Sad & emotionally difficult chapter for sure. The constant hits Pam takes from Roy being the sad oaf he is. Good set up for the last line, that is for sure!
Author's Response: Pam said at the beach she shouldn't have been with Roy but she didn't care about any of the reasons till she met Jim. I wanted to explore that a bit, which sadly yes a bunch of hits for her. Though things will start looking up from here.

OOOOO!!!!
Jim’s interview is exactly how I would expect Michael’s interviews go! Excellent “I know that you know that I know” circle of silliness!
Larisa is a budding psychologist?!
Jim learned how to be a good boyfriend!!
Next chapter, next chapter!
Author's Response: Yup, laying a lot of groundwork here for things moving forward. I remember having a lot of fun writing that bit with Michael. Glad you liked it.

Oh wow. Didn’t see that coming, what a very interesting reason why Pam didn’t finish college. Kenny is exactly how we would expect, of course, becoming violent in the news of Dads death. Roy being responded tracks well, what a heart wrenching chapter. So many moneys of shame and guilt to keep people ‘plodding’ along…
Author's Response: This event is going to have some long lasting ramifications for sure. I didn't like having them all go through it, but life isn't always happy. There will be good times coming though.

I adore the way their names came out, how sweet and intriguing! And I think it is the simplicity of the life-path that is most compelling. As the reader, you can see yourself doing all of these things from chat rooms to awkward proms and even the space we all went through with nicknames or different spellings of our names.
Well done :)
Author's Response: Thanks. I had to get them to Pam and Jim eventually. Also start them down the path that will take them from these teenagers to the adults we see in the show. Still there's always something compelling about our formative years. Things that will always stay with us.
Date: July 11, 2023 04:00 pm Title: First Meeting
AWWW!!! How sweet and well put together, I am roughly their age and this brought me right back to my own high school.
More more!!
Author's Response: Glad you liked it. It was a lot of fun envisioning them at that age. There's a lot more in this story so I hope you enjoy the rest too. Thanks for the review.

Oh Jim is unbearably cute here!! And it contrast Roy and Packer are so sleazy. I felt so sorry for Pam and so happy that Jim looked out for her. I feel like this is getting to the meat of things in the way Jim feels, you did such a good job of showing how deeply he's fallen for her, all the little things he notices and he looks out for her.ge understands her moods and when she's unhappy. You've done a great job here.
Sorry for late reviews, I've been working on my own stuff a bit too. But this is great!
Author's Response: Thank you. Clearly by the time the cameras showed up Jim and Pam had a really good relationship. It was fun to bring that out for sure. Especially contrasting Jim with Roy and Packer. Yeah, Jim's really far gone for Pam by now. She needs a bit yet though. Still there's lots of opportunity for them to have fun.

Awwww what a sweet chapter. Pam already knows he likes her and she likes him. It's also true to canon Pam, that she is unconsciously leading Jim on a little because she likes him and is so flattered he likes her.
Blue balls!!! Hilarious team JAM prank. So typical the boys got kicked out, so funny 😀
Author's Response: Yes, she's probably unconsciously leading him on a bit, but at the same time despite everything they are really good friends. That kind of friendship take some time to develop which was the point of this chapter. Show their friendship growing. And any chance to get one over on Dwight is a good one. Glad you liked it.

Pam, Pam, Pam. Describing the reasons that she should be happy with Roy... she didn't mention love :( and she's so down on herself. Roy doesn't make her feel good about herself. I like that her and Jim both seem to be learning from each other, teaching each other. But poor Jim. Could feel his heart exploding when he saw Roy. I thought that scene in particular was very well done. I felt really sad for him. That was the moment in this story that it becomes so clear he's in over his head with his feelings for her.
Ps the parallel relationships P and J have with their younger sisters is really something great here. Good job
Author's Response: I mean considering this is a canon correct story, the angst had to start at some time. Both Pam adding basically having to convince herself she wants to be with Roy despite how Jim makes her feel and Jim finding out about Roy.
Glad you're liking the inclusion of the sisters in this one. They'll play a bigger role as the story goes on.

Aww. I'm surprised they didn't suspect they were Jamie and Morgan. However that's true to life isn't it? I never thought about Jim being so nervous on his first day . Maybe in his gut he subconsciously knew it was the day that would change his life forever
Author's Response: That would just be to easy, wouldn't it? They'll get there, but since this is canon-correct, there will be more than a few bumps till they're ready for each other. But yeah 100% a life changing day for both of them.

Penny and Pam have such a gorgeous relationship here, although it seems like Penny is the older/wiser.
Roy's reaction to potential fatherhood reminds me of something my history teacher said, 25 years ago. He said a man has to place a great deal of trust in a woman when they become pregnant because all they have is their word as proof who the father is. I never forgot that, perhaps all men have seeds of doubt- or is it just perceptions of our society? In the case of Roy here - red flags, red, burning, flaming flags all over the chapter. Helene sees them, Penny sees them, even Pam and Roy see them but no one is opening their eyes yet fully to put the pieces together. That Pam and Roy won't be happy. Pam seems to see Roy as her settlement as she can't have the Jamie she's built up in her mind to be the perfect man. And Roy I get the sense wants a substitute mother in Pam. :( great chapter!!!!
Author's Response:
No reason to suggest Pam and Penny had a bad relationship so that's why it's in there like that. Maybe it got a little strained the longer Pam was with Roy, but sisterly bonds are pretty strong. Most of what happens in this chapter comes from Pam's line in "Beach Games," that there were a lot of reasons to not be with Roy, but she didn't care about them till she met Jim. Granted it still took a while, but it also took her a while to really build up her courage. I agree that by the time we see Pam in canon she's settled with Roy. She probably hasn't thought there would be any other option. Roy I've always pictured as mentally stuck in the glory days of high school along with a big helping of laziness. He's not willing to change unless there's no other option or he thinks others will think less of him. So he may try to do the right thing from time to time but for the most part it falls flat. Thus Pam isn't as important to him as she really should be. Glad you liked this chapter.

I know I’m late, but this has to be one of my fav I’ve ever read! This is so sweet, I love the use of their names too!
Author's Response: Aww, thank you. I'm glad you like it and also took the time to leave a comment. I remember having a lot of fun creating this story so I'm thrilled to hear others like it so much too.
Date: January 08, 2023 09:23 am Title: Looking Ahead
Aww. I'm glad Jim wasn't really into Jess, because she really just let him down without any real care. He didn't chase after her, but she didn't ask him to come with her either. But now we get to see what happens when he meets (re-meets) the receptionist!!!!! Good job
I like Larissa in this story. Such a wise girl. Great relationship between them.
Author's Response: Same as earlier

I love this back story for Pam. Roy is still thoughtless and self consumed like he was for most of the series. It's actually how I imagine their first time would have been too. I'm glad she has such good people around her in this story. The foreshadowing with her connecting with Jim just makes me want to read and read and read more. Thanks for posting x
Author's Response: Glad you liked this backstory for Pam, even it's kind of a downer. Roy take a long time to mature and I wanted to really create a reason why he may have stalled past high school. Sadly Pam get's somewhat caught up in that too. Can't wait to see what you think of the rest of the story.

Great story. Love the time switch and how it all ties in to canon events. D.B 🤣🤣 It's like Pam and Jim were always in tandem with each other even before they knew each other. I'm excited to see where this goes
Author's Response: There's quite a bit of backstory within canon to help flesh out their pasts, to a degree. But yes, for the most part Jim and Pam think in tandem. When their fears and doubts don't get in the way that is.
Date: January 01, 2023 09:42 am Title: First Meeting
Love this!! What a sweet meeting. They are still in character, it feels like they are destined no matter how they would meet. d84;
Author's Response: Thank you! Glad you're here for this one. And yes, soulmates like Jim and Pam would always be destined to be together.
Date: February 09, 2022 08:03 am Title: Epilogue
This was such a great way to finish off the story. It’s been such a fantastic read. I’m looking forward to reading the next in the series. Congrats on such a great piece of writing!
Author's Response: Thanks for all the great reviews.
Date: February 09, 2022 07:58 am Title: The Hunt
Ughhhh I loved this SO SO much!!! What a chapter!
Everything was just perfect, the scavenger hunt was wonderful! Jim not being able to figure it out, bless him, but I’m so happy Pam got to see his reaction.
I loved the ‘I love you Jamie/Morgan’ like. Just so great.
Thank goodness for the epilogue as I’m not ready for this story to be over yet!
Author's Response: I had a lot of fun coming up with everything for this chapter. Glad you liked it so much.
Date: February 09, 2022 02:27 am Title: Memorial Day and Beyond
Omgggg Pam knows!!! I’ve read this chapter twice and it is so good!
So clever how you set up the whiskey tasting to kick start the smell memory.
Can’t wait to see how Pam tells Jim!
Author's Response: Thanks. As much as I would have liked them to find out earlier, I wanted them to be together before they found out. Which mean all the heartache with the close calls and whatnot. Waiting till they're truly together makes it sweeter in my opinion. Glad you liked the whiskey tasting set-up. Jim's reveal will be a lot of fun I promise you that.
Date: February 09, 2022 01:57 am Title: Clearing the Air
Another great chapter here.
I think it’s very realistic that Karen wouldn’t have initially believed they’ve broken up. I’m glad Jim let her have it for all the things she’d done.
Jim, how could you not remember the rain check???
Author's Response: Very cathartic for me to have Jim tell Karen off like that. Glad you liked it. To be fair to Jim high school was a long time ago and to his knowledge he threw out his box of Morgan stuff about a year ago.
Date: February 09, 2022 12:29 am Title: Refining Fire
Wow a lot of great advice here again, and really glad we got to see Ethan again!
It’s amazing that you have so much first hand knowledge of these kind of things, with clearly one memory being hard to go back to, so thank you for sharing.
Another great chapter
Author's Response: Thank you. Yeah there are some not so nice parts of my job. Thus me building a big support system. Glad you liked this one.
Date: February 08, 2022 07:59 pm Title: Visitors
Oh poor Jim, but amazing family there to support him. And Jonathan! I like that he’s the weird Florida cousin hehe
Can’t believe he shredded the letter, I was like nooooo what are you doing!! I had visions of him at the land fill looking for strips of paper, a la Michael and Dwight.
Author's Response: Nice catch with Johnathan being the cousin from Florida. I think you're the first to catch that one so well done. It hurt me to write Jim shredding that letter, but it's where he was at the time. Don't worry better times ahead soon.
Date: February 08, 2022 03:07 pm Title: Choosing to Move
Such a great breakup here, you captured both Pam and Roy really well.
The letter was great too. Can’t wait to find our Jim’s thoughts on it
Author's Response: Thank you. Considering how much effort I put into writing the start of the Roy/Pam relationship I wanted to put similar effort to the end of the relationship. Also a lot of fics will skim over the breakup. I didn't want to do that. As for the letter...you'll soon find out.
Date: February 08, 2022 02:55 pm Title: Aftermath
This was a great chapter. The advice from everyone was so good and you explored it all so well.
The standout for me though was this “Pour cereal into a bowl, pour in milk and eat, that’s how.” Amazing.
Author's Response: Figured it was time for Pam to get some much needed perspective on Roy. From both friends who know him and others who don't. I had a lot of fun having Helene cut down Roy like that. Guy deserves it.
Date: February 08, 2022 12:05 pm Title: Bonus Gifts
Aww she’s got the teapot! I liked how you added the reminder of Jim almost dying as to why she initially gave the teapot away.
I’m desperate for the reveal though!!
Author's Response: Clearly Pam knew who gave her the teapot and how disappointed he was when she didn't get it back. I liked being able to add in some extra backstory as well. Give even more meaning to the teapot and all.
Date: February 08, 2022 11:44 am Title: The Party
Really liked this chapter, loved reading all their internal thoughts.
Pam was so close to seeing her own picture!!
And we’re done with the bonus gifts!
Author's Response: Even in the early days Jim and Pam had tons of cute moments together. It's fun to expand on some of them or look into their thoughts. Yup, another so close but so far moment for sure.
