100% would’ve been a blindingly effective wake-up call for Jim. I appreciate that you gave Karen her due in this one and gave space to Jim admitting to himself that he’s been a jerk to her – and you preserved him busting into her talking head to ask her out! Really, in this scenario, the camera crew has earned being able to capture that moment.

So one of my favorite things about your stories is that more often than not, they introduce me to new music and so far, I've never been disappointed in any of it. This song is fantastic.
Oh how dare you. First, you incorporate one of my all-time favorite scenes - the one of Dwight comforting a crying Pam - and then you give us the idea of a backwards going montage of all the times Pam's been miserable since Casino Night.
I'm fine.
"He sees it now, the way her smile looks a little worn around the edges, the way it doesn’t light up her eyes like it used to. He misses her real smile, the one that crinkles her eyes and pinches her nose. He misses his own smile, the one that curls at the ends and almost splits his cheeks in half." Hey, remember when I said I was fine? Lies.
"Come over on your lunch break. *so I can break up with you*" Did I laugh? Absolutely I did.
"Pam’s eyes flit to him, shock is quickly replaced with a quiet steadfast affection. He smiles, and it’s real. " Again, I say how dare you.
And THAT ending? Pam hinting she knows about the video and Tom's shenanigans? And the entire paragraph where they kiss and seriously, you take these scenes we've seen a million times and turn them into these magical moments and just always keep writing Jim and Pam, okay?
Author's Response:
It’s a great song! Although, the amount of time I spend in my iTunes library trying to come up with fic titles is a problem...
Bless you and your kind, kind comments. I had a lot of fun with that ending, I’m glad you picked up on what Pam was putting down - so to speak.

This is an absolutely adorable and completely satisfying one shot!
Author's Response: Thank you! That’s so lovely of you to say & definitely the goal of a one shot!

Well this was a.dor.a.ble. Thanks for putting it to (paper? screen?). I like the way you have it happening, and it makes sense that Karen would be pissed but much less so than after all that time in the real canon. Good work.
Author's Response:
Thanks Comfect! I figure at this point Karen probably just thinks Jim is a little non-committal. Plus, she doesn’t have much of a grasp on the Pam history so the levels of hurt/jealousy are a little lower.
I’m glad you enjoyed it!

Okay, so this was lovely. As we start out you've captured where Jim is really well. In one sense he's just going through the motions. Wake up, pack a lunch, go to work, go home, go to bed, repeat. The same thing day in day out. There's something missing from his life. He knows what it it, or should we say who it is. So there's Jim stuck in the proverbial doldrums trying to spark something, anything. Casino Night hit him hard and made him numb so now in the interest of self-preservation he's blocked out Pam, and started up with Karen. Clearly not working out for him and you capture all that vividly.
But then there's a hint of a breeze on the horizon in the form of Tom the cameraman and his video. The video starts to fills the sails of Jim's ship of life right now, but there's to much ballast to really get the ship going again. However, this breeze does awaken Jim to exactly what it is he needs to pitch overboard.
So he does that. He's sailing back to familiar waters but at the same time different. It's as if there was a rocky shore line that was his previous relationship with Pam. Once he crashed on those rocks. Now as he sails a similar course there's a fog that prevents him from seeing more than a few feet off his bow. However in that instant when he asks Pam to dinner and the especially when she throws herself into his arms, the fog is lifted. Where once jagged cliffs had been is now a clear horizon full of adventure and possibility.
Bon Voyage Jim and Pam as you set out on the seas of life together now.
Author's Response:
I so enjoy how you manage to articulate what is happening in a fic when my thought processes are usually, “let’s get some words out & see what happens.”
Thanks reviewing & providing this metaphor that fits so brilliantly.
