Yeah, Roy's afraid of being stuck with her whereas Jim's afraid of being without her. Glad we got the truth out. Now... how many hotels until it's a honeymoon?

Ouch, I hope he doesn't keep on stringing Karen along given that he already doesn't have time for a real relationship... And I'm sad for Pam more than I am disappointed. Hopefully they can become a little less broken as time goes on...

Ouch. As you say, hurting people is a part of how they get where they get, but still. Hurting like this though does feel worse. Poor Jim especially.

I don't know the source material, but I'm liking the concept. Good AU setup, interested to know where we go from here!

I'm gripped! Love how you've brought the three of them together, and really looking forward to seeing what happens next.
Loved competitive Jim's high school basketball dig!
Author's Response: Thank you! Glad I grabbed you. Chapter 7 is up now.

Ugh I just hate Roy. I can totally see him nonchalantly burning down their house and absolutely not taking responsibility for it. You wrote all the little elements of tension so well! They made my heart race. There were so many good parts in this chapter but I really loved this line.
“The planets and her chakras might be in the right place, but the reality of her world was in the ring on her finger and the small rental house she shared with Roy. ”
Author's Response: Thank you! It's always great when someone has an emotional response (especially if it's a positive one, lol). Thanks for telling me the line you liked. That's so rewarding :). Chapter 7 is up now. Hope to see you back here soon.

“The planets and her chakras might be in the right place, but the reality of her world was in the ring on her finger” Damn. I so get it, where Pam is coming from, but at the same time I wish she could let Roy go. It’s not fair on either of them...
“I love you. I want you. I’m here because of you.” Oh my heart.
A bridge maybe, but this chapter feels all sorts of important. It was really interesting to see Jim and Roy in the same place. I can’t imagine being forced to stay in a hotel and having my significant other leave me to stay with his brother instead. This may be my new least favorite Roy thing to ever exist - I can totally picture it playing out just like this. How lonely and isolating for Pam, but at the same time I can see how she would feel as if she deserves it in this world...
Really curious to see where you go from here...
Author's Response: Thanks, Jenna, both for this review and the awesome one for ch. 5! I really appreciate it. Glad too we could clear up that whole Erin/Aaron thing, lol. My American ears still hear them the same, even with your wonderful accent. Yeah, about Roy. Sometimes I write him as a real jerk, sometimes over-the-top, and occasionally as an oblivious guy who truly loves Pam and is hurt by her. So many ways to go--I'm sure as a writer you know what I mean. Here, he's definitely on the jerk side, but then, so is Pam. I hope I'm getting across how much she hates herself right now, but can't help but love Jim. It'll all work out, I promise. Thanks again for your insightful words. Always great hearing what you think. More soon!

I get why you call this a bridge chapter. Really interesting to see this dynamic between Pam and Roy. He's suspicious of something to be sure. However the fire seems like it's pushed those suspicions to the back.
Pam's warring emotions of course are center stage. Great writing to get all that out. Though if she is having doubts about Roy, and it seems like she is, hopefully all this serves as a big eye opener for her. The fact that after their house almost burned down and he thinks a sandwich, a kiss, and an ass grab makes things ok? And to say he's still going to stay at Kenny's? I really hope Pam doesn't ignore those gigantic red flags. Regardless of length of relationship or not, Roy's showing how much he can't be counted on there.
I kinda liked that here at the start Jim isn't doing to overtly rock the boat. I mean we all know he is just by being there. However to anyone but Pam he's just a new guy who seems nice. Of course there are big waves still come.
This was a great twist to keep them still in hotel rooms. I know you're basing this on a movie, but it's still a creative way to accomplish all that.
So now the plot really thickens. It should be really interesting to see where we go from here.
Author's Response: Thank you, thank you, for your reviews of both ch 5 and 6! Yes, Pam is definitely still torn, but having Jim there is going to highlight all those red flags you mentioned. Yes, Jim's hanging back, approaching Pam like she's a frightened animal, not wanting to scare her away. But he has plans, for sure. I can never fully express how much your reviews mean to me. I only wish I was better at giving you an adequate response. :)

Wow! I was expecting more JAM, but I love this chapter the way it is. It is amazing how you manage to go from angsty to scared to plain sad. And now they all work together!
I'm eagerly waiting for the next chapter. Thanks!
Author's Response: I'm glad you liked this chapter, and I also thank you for your great review of ch. 5. I felt the need to step back from some of the passion in ch. 6 so Pam could start to work things out in her head, especially by talking it out with Isabel. Yes, now they're all on the same playing field, things will start to take some turns. Thanks again for all your enthusiasm. More soon.

Wow! You had so many good lines in this chapter! My favorite was “everything was as it should be. Except it wasn’t, because she was engaged to Roy and Jim had a girlfriend.” Ugh, so perfect. Their hearts are perfectly connected, but they can’t acknowledge that connection without getting in trouble. Can’t wait to read more.
Author's Response: Thank you for this, and for the equally awesome review of ch. 5! It's so gratifying when readers point out the lines they like, so that's very much appreciated. I'm so glad you are continuing to enjoy this. More soon :)

I’ve read chapter 5 at least a dozen times at this point. It’s seriously sooooooo good. The part where he’s holding her as they look out the window made me tear up. I can’t wait for the next chapter.

I am so excited to see Jim fight for Pam's hand. I demand a du- wait, sorry, wrong genre.
I am still excited though.
Author's Response: Yes, it's always great to write Jim with a little more courage. Thanks so much for the review. CH. 6 is up now!

This is heartbreakingly, achingly, astoundingly beautiful.
Author's Response: Wow! This is wonderful, especially coming from such a great author like you. I really appreciate your thoughts, and so glad I could please you. I hope you get the chance to check out ch. 6, which is up now.

This is all sorts of achingly beautiful. It’s such a terrible way to start something (what with all the cheating) and yet their are still such profound moments of sweetness. It’s really lovely writing to weave those threads together and still make them mostly likable versions of themselves.
Okay, this is perhaps the most ridiculous thing to comment on, but I will never get over how Americans pronounce “Aaron” - it sounds nothing like “Erin” in Australian English... Your joke stands, but it’s a nope on that pronunciation from me.
Jim’s reassurances are so very sweet.
““But I can’t.” Oh. Big Casino Night feels. Ouch.
I never really doubted that he’d take the job, but I’m so very glad he did & that it’s so he can fight for her. Yes please. I love a confident Jim who actually goes after what he wants.

So yeah, all sorts of ups and downs with this one. Getting back to my analogy from last time, it looks like more dominoes are starting to fall. With that comes some unintended consequenses. This time in the form of Karen. It feels like she kind of knows Jim is stringing her along. Kinda glad she has the wherewithal to realize his heart's not in the relationship and get out of it mostly easily. That was a nice change of pace.
Pam and Jim though are still all over the place. Their hearts say one thing, their situation says another, and it's all a great big mess.
The fact that Pam can repeat Jim's declaration to him like that and at the same time reject him is both sweet and heartbreaking at the same time.
The other big change I really like is that Jim's determined to fight for her this time around. That's one thing I would have liked Jim to have done a bit more in early seasons of canon. If you really love her sometimes you have to fight for her. So I am looking forward to that. However it also feels like we're not out of the storm yet.
Really interested to see where this one goes.

WOW. This story just keeps amazing me! To finally see the vulnerable side of this “take charge” Pam when she asks Jim what he likes about her, to hear her say that she thinks she’s ugly, was heartbreaking. And that little twist? “I love you too but I can’t???” WOW! I’m so excited to see Jim on a mission! This is so good!
Author's Response: Thank you so much! I guess no matter how confident Pam (or Jim) may seem, they are still who they are, and I tried to capture that here. I've posted ch. 6. Hope you get the chance to read it soon.

Omg! Talk about emotional rollercoasters! This chapter has taken me all over the place. First the meeting, then the small talk, then just sadness... and then, phew. Is it summer again? And then... ouch my poor heart.
I loved that you made Pam say it back, thus making Jim act. It was the cherry on top of an amazing sundae.

You've made this into an interesting AU exploration of their communication issues in canon, which is a nice touch.
Author's Response: Thank you! I'm always glad someone sees a little of the show in my fics. Hope you like ch. 5 too--it's up now.

I would read 100 chapters of this! Can’t wait for more!

The backstory of this Jim and Pam is so layered. I’m really loving where you are going with this. Plus I nearly spit out my drink at Jim’s “D-wight”. Perfect callback to OL :)
Author's Response: Ha! Glad someone caught the "D-wight" lol. Thanks so much for the review. I'm so glad you are enjoying this. Please check out ch. 5.

Awesome chapter. I love how he found out, even if it would have been better to come from Pam. That was a “oh crap,” moment. And he was justifiably angry, seeing him let that out was a nice twist, as was her pushing back on the double standard. Really curious what happens next!
Author's Response: Thank you so much! Glad you liked this chapter. I just posted ch 5, so your waiting is over.

Another great chapter! Really looking forward to seeing how they resolve this.

“to have her heart and mind completely out of sync” This is Pam of the early seasons all over - she’s just far more conscious of it here.
Oh, I love it’s a “this is Pam,” that gives her away.
“Get up on the wrong side of the warehouse guy?” Why is this so funny?! This may just be the best slightly inappropriate Michael joke of all time. It’s perfect.
Way to have Jim make an entrance.
Dwight’s reaction to him is so very well done.
Jim’s anger is so very real. I love that it’s coming from genuine hurt and not pride like Pam assumes. It’s sweet in a way.
Sleeping together without sleeping together is somehow a whole new level of intimacy. It’s certainly going to make things interesting if Jim takes the job in Scranton...
Author's Response: Thank you! Your review made my day! Glad you got a laugh--it's fun writing Michael sometimes, but it's a very fine line, as I sure you know, between making him over-the-top and funny in the right way. Glad you liked Dwight in this chapter--it's a real compliment if you say I got him down. I hope you continue to enjoy where I'm taking this. Please check out ch. 5!

Omg, I am seriously loving this story! So good and each time I read a new chapter I want more, I can’t wait to see what happens next!
I really love seeing this side of Pam and Jim because it’s so real. I had a feeling Jim would find out Pam worked at Dunder Mifflin and it would be tied to Michael:)
Thanks for writing such a good story. And I’m glad to know there’s a happy ending in the future.

First of all, I hope you're feeling better and that, whatever it is that's troubling you right not, solves itself, soon.
This chapter made me sad in a kind of sweet way.
First I though, "well, Miss Beesly, you're so busted!" but I though Jim was going to be easygoing about it. I like it better him being angry, because it shows how deep his feeling are for Pam. And also, I like the contrast of Pam panicking when hearing his voice (and Dwight... oh Dwight, so himself and yet somewhat protective of Pam), versus how Pam stands for herself in the interaction in the car.
Also, that kiss was HAWT!
I do wish Jim'd woken up sooner to at least talk to her, but it all makes sense. I can't help but wondering... is he considering moving to Scranton because of one Karen Fillipeli with whom he might have broken up? I'll keep my fingers crossed.
Amazing chapter! Holding my breath till the next one.
Author's Response: Glad you liked Angry Jim. He was definitely fun to write. I hope you like where this is going, that there are a few surprises along the way. You can let go your breath now--ch. 5 is up now. :)
