This Pam-Michael exchange to get her out of the office is definitely one they had in canon, either on the day of The Job or possibly at multiple other points.
THE DWIGHT CUT-OUT. Awww, man. That is a heck of an icebreaker. Although I'm deeply concerned at the clear implication that Jim just had this... lying around.
THE VOICEMAIL. AND THEN HE CAME BACK. HE CAME BACK TO KISS HER. I am deceased.

Oh my gosh. This last paragraph. This last LINE: "And he thought about never needing to avoid her, or hide his feelings, or pretend he didn’t absolutely adore everything about Pamela Morgan Beesly." This is GORGEOUS.

Jim’s post-Beach Games thought process is endlessly fascinating to me... enjoyed this take on what he told Pam versus what he told himself after the fact.

Okay. I VERY much want to know what inspire Michael to go with Pride and Prejudice, because my immediate theory that he confused it with Pride and Prejudice and Zombies apparently doesn't work with the timeline.
Also, WHOA. Very Darcy-esque, and also a big moment for Jim and Pam. Romantic!

I thought you did a really good job of demonstrating why Karen isn't someone Jim would want to let go of easily here. And I *love* how aware you've made Jim of what Pam is going through during this awful episode for her and how much it weighs on him.

This is an interesting take on The Merger. I think it makes Pam's actions in this episode make far more sense without negating Jim's reasoning for reacting the way he does, which is a nice touch.

I like this take on Jim's attitude towards Karen - definitely someone he CAN like, probably SHOULD like, and someone he absolutely values enough to talk himself into dating.

Really like the touch of Roy sweeping up the glass shards when Pam comes back. That's some solid detail work, and feels very Roy - not the guy who wouldn't smash the glass in the first place, but MAYBE the guy who would eventually calm down enough to not let anyone cut their feet.

I've always wondered what a final interaction post-Casino Night would look like between them - because much as I think Jim totally disappearing makes dramatic sense, I don't quite see him getting away with it in the real world. Appreciate you letting it get a little bitter - feels like that's about where it would be, especially since Pam still has nothing to say.

Ha, you slipped this one in RIGHT before I started reviewing everything. Clever.
Congrats on the feature!
"Their lives were so entangled and intertwined, that it was difficult to decipher what was love and what was routine and comfort" feels like strong insight into what's going on with Pam. As is, to an unfortunate degree, her ducking calls from her mom as opposed to updating her.

"You can skip this story, it's just season 3, nothing special." Remind me to never listen to you ever again, ever. My heart broke so many times during this story. How COLD he was to her right before he left? I wanted to punch him in the face. I'm ignoring the utter heartbreak he just went through. That was rough. Ugh. And then Phyllis's wedding from Jim's perspective really just killed me. Him kissing Karen after seeing Pam walk out with Roy. Definitely a Wishy-Washy Jim move. I loved it. And then this last chapter. You really gave TPB a run for her money with the fluff here, but I loved every word. "You are home for me, Pam." I'm really not okay. "Welcome home, Halpert." Can you make this into an audiobook so I can listen to it repeatedly? Thanks.

Well my fave part was cardboard Dwight but the voicemail was a closer second than I expected. Lovely ending, thanks so much for sharing this story!
Author's Response: Cardboard Dwight is one of my prouder moments in life. I’m so glad you liked it! Thanks for reading and all your reviews! :)

I like that you have him having to double back to turn down the job. It's a nice touch.

I like this version of the conversation. It always bugs me that he doesn't explicitly tell her personally, and this helps.

Dang yo. Good use of the Austen! Especially the timing of the quote.

Oh this was a good chapter. Nice work on the angst especially for Jim as he's trying to move on.

Yeah that's... Sad. Jim and not answering texts, man...

That was a bit of a jump: when did he hear about Pam? I feel like knowing how long that took might be important. But this does do a good job of introducing Karen here.
Author's Response: I think I just knew I had plenty of sad coming, so I rushed it. You’re totally right, and I think I could have fleshed out his feelings while he was in Stamford a little better.

I like that last moment with her mom. Not that I don't like the rest; just that was very good.

I'm glad you went Pam pov here. It really worked for pulling us into her side of the emotions. And it gave us Jim being a dick without his self justification.

Super cute. Always fun to have a fresh look at the first date. I absolutly LOVED the cardboard Dwight. That was just a great. A really fun way to show that the Real Jim is back. Of course afterwards is lovely as well. They're finally open, honest, and most of all together. Just lovely.
Well done with your first story. That can always be a challenge but you did it nicely.

Author's Response: I’m so glad you liked it! I am sure the first date has been written a million times but it’s my favorite unanswered question from the series. And I’m pretty proud of Carboard Dwight. Haha

“Yeah, he really knows his way around a pair of beets.” This was such a fun exchange!
After the angsty build up, this fluff is super sweet. I love that he came back to kiss her. What a lovely way to end this!
Author's Response: Thank you for reading and reviewing!! I’m glad you liked the ending. :)

Excellent little scene there to get into Jim's mindset. His realization he wasn't being fair and hurt Karen is always tough.
However it seems the question "where do you see yourself in 10 years" really hit home. With that medal in his pocket the only future he can see is with Pam. Lovely images too. Short, but sweet and powerful.
