Ugh, come on, William. You were doing so well right up until the end there.
It is nice to see that however susceptible Helene is to Roy's lies she is still firmly in Pam's corner.
The Jim-Pam banter about the mess is spot on.

Again, just varsity-level emotional manipulation from Roy.
I like the chance for Pam to let her inner monologue out that Rosie provides, and the Jim-Pam scene here is notably touching.

I thought Michael actually came off very Michael-like in this chapter. This also seems very much like Dwight - he obviously wants to be there for Pam and just doesn't really have the slightest clue how to do it. Angela and Kevin are dead on.
I'm less sure about Phyllis, just because at this point in Office canon she seems like enough of a JAM shipper that she might find this all romantic rather than unethical, but she's also pretty hard on Pam a lot of the time, and her voice sounds right.

This story is so great. I finished chapter 35 and almost hate to read it now that it says finished. I dont want to be done with it. You did a great job with characterization. :)

Super annoying but realistic about the situation with the cops there. I've talked to women who were in similiar situations and they often felt like the police and courts not only couldn't but wouldn't do anything to help them. It left them feeling even more helpless. So I'm glad here that Pam is able to convince the cops that Jim is not Roy and get that settled.

Lots of guilt feeling with William there. I'd probably feel the same if I were in his shoes.
Roy remains the absolute worst.

Oh Micheal. Why do you have to be so Micheal from time to time. I really like that her parents showed up. To make it clear they're on her side and in her corner. Really glad she is started to get more people supporting her.

Good for Pam here to tell the truth to her parents. It's a big relief that they switch sides to support her. William wanting to protect his daughter rings really true. Nice chapter here.

I like Rosie. She's doing a great job of pulling things out of Pam in a way that feels designed to heal, cope, and progress. That can be challenging.

I think you got Micheal pretty good here. The whole trying to be funny, but it comes out wrong aspect of him seems on point.
Really don't like Angela or Phyillis here. Angela of course since she's just adding salt to Pam's wounds with her holier-than-thou judgemental hypocisy. Same for Phyillis but to a lesser extent. Now of course they don't know the whole story, but it's still mean of them to assume they do and attack like that.
Jim continues to be wonderful.

Again, the emotional manipulation Roy performs with Pam's friends and family is just absolutely brutal to read. Poor girl. I'm glad she has someone in her corner.

The sections of this with Pam's mom before she accepts that Roy is abusing her are really just so difficult to read.

Very much appreciate you having Jim make the choice to work to prepare himself to be as much of a resource to Pam as he can here, as opposed to letting him just stumble onto the right answers.

You know, there are a lot of very hateable versions of Roy in JAM fanfic - I honestly think yours might be the most vile, and I mean that as a compliment.

Definitely some interesting choices being made here, especially with Jim - seems sensible enough that he's sort of stumbling with exactly how to help Pam, even though his intentions are obviously good.

"There was no one in the world but her and Roy. She knew this as surely as she knew the earth revolves around the sun."
One thing I think you do a good job of throughout this fic is painting how isolating Roy's abuse is for Pam - and that starts right from the beginning.

So I kinda cheated. I went over to FFN and read the rest of this story cause I was dying to see where it went. I'll try to keep reviews on topic for each chapter or chapters though.
I'm glad here that Pam finally admits the truth to her Dad. I feels like slow progress on her part, but it's still progess.

Nice chapter here. Good to have a bit of brteak from all the heaviness. A nice walk in the rain, get some anger out, and then a nice evening at home. There's still a lot to get through, but this was a greak break.
Date: September 14, 2020 11:30 am Title: Chapter 25
The shadow of Roy is long. He's not there physically but he's still trying to get everyone against Pam. Sadly, save Jim, it seems to be working. I really hate that even though Pam is the one with bruises on her face people seem to think Roy was somehow ok in hitting and hurting her. Doesn't matter if he's drunk or sober, NO IT'S NOT!!!!!
I know I keep saying this, but it's true. I'm really glad that the best person who could be in Pam's corner, is. Keep it up Jim.

I get why Pam's not telling her Mom things over the phone, but I also have this feeling that maybe it would be better if she did come clean. She's angry that her Mom's not on her side, but her Mom doesn't have the whole story yet. Hopefully that's something to get fixed sometime soon.
Roy's still a jerk. May want to see about expanding that PPO to any of Pam's family as well.
Jim's great as always.

Love that Pam is progressing with her recovery. The nightmares seem really troubling thus far. Understandable of course. Glad she's first off agreed to talk to the counselor and to start opening up about it all to them.
Jim is still being great. Yes he loves her, he wants to be in a relationship with her, but to push that now would be taking advantage of her and he knows that. That's the last thing she needs. Really glad to see Jim acting like this.
Date: September 12, 2020 01:18 pm Title: Chapter 20
Great progress on Pam's part. Getting away from Roy. Calling the cops right away. Not letting him in. Loved that though she's scared, he doesn't control her anymore.
Still love this Jim. That he's there to do everything to protect her.
Their discussion there was great. How Pam is opening up more. Realizing everything. Seems like a lot of progress. Good job that Jim is just there to listen to her, be there for her. Loved it.
Date: September 12, 2020 01:08 pm Title: Chapter 19
So that's annoying with Toby. Knock it off.
Pam still needs time to process things. Gonna take some time though. Though having her hear her Mom say that about Roy would clearly sting.
Oh holy crap. This can't be good. Glad she didn't let him in and reached for a phone right away.
Date: September 12, 2020 11:22 am Title: Chapter 18
Yes it's going to be a long road. The nightmare shows that. However she does show signs of progress. Letting Jim take care of her. Agreeing to the safety plan. Lots of good progress. Hope to see more of that. Likewise I hope any and all bail is denied for Roy. Let him rot.
Date: September 12, 2020 11:16 am Title: Chapter 17
Finally! Get that creep behind bars and throw away the key. Now hopefully Pam can really start down the road to recovery. One where she's not jumping at shadows. One with her best friend at her side. One that shows her light and hope.
