I just read Warrior 4’s review, and I agree that I would love to see Pam’s family rip into Roy’s mom for raising such a monster. Especially since Roy’s mom is such a bitch.

You don’t have to worry about trying
to wrap up this story because I would
be happy to see it go on forever.
Jim was right that Roy didn’t really deny the abuse.
Roy is definitely the type of person who doesn’t see it as abuse if it’s to punish the other person.
Also will there be some sort of epilogue?
I’m out of jellybeans for this story, so here’s a 🫖.
Please update soon.

Loved that Murphy was able to get to Roy here. That he's been able to show time and again Roy's character, or lack thereof. Also there's something else I just realized. When Pam was on the stand Roy repeatedly jumped up and shouted at her in a frothing rage. Pam stayed outwardly quiet. Something I'm sure the jury could see as well. Jim's insight there at the end is also telling. Roy never admitted what he did, he also never denied it.
Yes this story is getting long, but I'm okay with that. It's your story to tell and it feels like we've needed all these moments. Though I do really hope there's some scene coming where Team Beesly lays into Roy's mother for raising such a monster.

Yeah rough to hear that testimony from Roy. However I think by now the damage has been done. Roy has already had several near violent outbursts and Murphy has proven that when stressed, Roy still gets angry. The line of questioning about how a guy Roy's size get's taken down by Pam, yet it's Pam that sustained all the injuries is a good one. Murphy has done a great job of getting Roy to get to an emotional state of anger and willing to lash out. He's also had Roy admit to violent instances in the past even if there were no charges. Very easy for a juror to see that Roy is NOT the victim and deserves to rot behind bars.
Even still it's still taxing for Pam to be sure. Really glad she has the support of her family and Jim to help her get through all of this.

Hi 😊
I've been following this story a few months now and just recently became a member to this place. I can't begin to tell you how much I just love this story. By accident; I found this one first before the original one and I decided to go back and read that one, also. Big mistake on my part, as it was very hard for me to get through the actual abuse taking place AFTER reading the recovery process in THIS story, first. My own fault😬 These are SUCH good stories though, honestly. You are doing a great job and I look forward to every new update! Roy, you've got no idea whats coming to you, you *Bleep*. Jim has been such a sweet soul to Pam this entire time; I can't imagine what kind of a toll it's all taken on him, but he stays strong for her, and I love that.

I thought you did well with this chapter. You have a very clear idea of who Roy is and how he's fit his behavior into his sense of self, and it comes through. And you've done us the kindness of giving Murphy a good sense of him too. The tension of the scene was ramped up well. And I'm glad you gave Pam a chance to react here, making sure we remember this is HER story and not a courtroom drama.

No, not a good chapter, a GREAT chapter. I understand it may have been hard to write but you conveyed the situation and characterisations so well.

It was a great chapter!!!

It doesn’t surprise me that Roy actually believes the things he’s saying about the abuse.
I think it’s common for a person to not see
it as abuse if they think they have been in
wronged in some way. It’s kind of like when a
person with an addiction will look for any excuse they can to use their drug of choice.
It’s always someone else’s fault.
The members of the public who were in the courtroom were jerks. Even if Pam had been cheating with Jim, that doesn’t give Roy the right to hurt her. The scary thing is that there could be people on the jury that thinks the same way.
Why didn’t Murphy show the pictures of Pam to the jury? Please update soon.

It may be a filler chapter, but it's also a very nice and needed break for Pam. She just endured a brutal time on the witness stand. Taking some time off and away from all that is a great idea. I also get that she might have a few flashbacks here. After having to remember all she did on the stand it would stand to reason that memories would come to the fore. However Jim is there to show her that her story is not over, it's still being written, and she's found a true love not the perversion of love she had before. Nice work.

Well, it may have been a filler chapter, but honestly it's a nice break for Pam (and to a lesser extent for Jim), and a very sweet moment. A glimpse of the future beyond all the courtroom drama.

It’s a sweet filler chapter. Nice to read that Pam is getting a glimpse of what a happy, normal life could be like.

YIKES. A very dramatic ending to Pam's testimony. I thought you played out the tension well here leading up to Roy's eruption - well-constructed. And it's nice to see both Roy and his lawyer get some well-deserved comeuppance here, too.

Great chapter. I think you wrote this very plausibly.

Roy just keeps shooting himself in the foot.
His actions in the courtroom are showing
Pam’s truth to the jury. I am a little surprised that the judge kicked out Thorne as well.
I think that Thorne knows Roy has ruined
his own defense.
Oh also the office hasn’t been mentioned in a while. So I’m a bit curious as what is going on there. Also will be there be an epilogue?
Date: July 24, 2021 06:34 pm Title: Chapter 40
Finally Thorne gets what's coming to him. Besides badgering the witness, which is against protocol, he's also asking questions that were already answered. Another objectionable protocol breach. However what he did was also criminal in that he showed contempt of court. Really glad the judge finally put her foot down and had Thorne and Roy finally removed from the courtroom. In fact as soon as I'm done writing this I'm going to go re-read that part because I liked it so much.
Feels like that was the last big test for Pam. There may be smaller tests to combat in the future, but that was the big one and she passed. She made sure everyone know what kind of monster Roy was even while a scumbag lawyer was trying to twist her words.
Then after all that drama, there's Jim. He just knows she needs peace and quiet after a day like that. To just sit still and be together. Lovely way to end this chapter. Really great job with this one.

I thought this was wonderfully written but was a hard read *because* it was wonderfully written. You make the emotions pop out from the page in the most realistic way. And a very uplifting moment at the end that Pam knows she's beaten him, whatever the outcome.

What a beautiful way to end the chapter!

Murphy could have also raised the objection that Thorne was badgering the witness. Also how many chances is Judge Summers really going to give Thorne? She keeps saying things like "this is your warning," but then he goes right back into his slimy tricks. Thorne crossed the line many times there. Hopefully Summers finally puts her foot down and rakes him and Roy over the coals.
Tons of emotions with Pam here. Going through the highs and lows of everything. Really glad she and Jim had a chance to have a moment before her cross-examination. I really get why she'd be feeling so lost. To have to have everything, her history out there in the open, and for Thorne to try and use it against her like that would be hard for anyone.
However finally she breaks Roy. She's not the same woman she was when she was with him. She's found her courage, she's found true love, she's found herself. She's found a fire in her burning so hot and strong that a creature of darkness like Roy is powerless against it. Loved that moment.
As always I'm really looking forward to the next update.

Overall story jelly beans accumulated here.
Date: July 11, 2021 03:22 pm Title: Chapter 39
The holding room scene between Pam and Jim is so evocative. Two exhausted people checking in, staying in touch in the brief moment in a difficult day. It deserves a jelly bean on its own merit.
The layers of filth metaphor and Pam recognizing the filth is all Roy's is so good. The dirt was only clothing she donned while she was with him.
The last four paragraphs are a marvel. Pam finds the courage to face down her abuser. Such a very hard thing to do.
He folded like a cheap suit, and she has every right to feel vindicated, euphoric even. A victory lap around the courtroom wouldn't be amiss in that moment though I doubt the judge would take kindly to it. I don't doubt the judge who has probably seen her fair share of domestic violence cases saw that moment as well and recognized it for the turning point it is. Victim-no-more defeats abuser.
Good onya.

This is a very lovely moment you've created with Jim at the beginning - reminding her that there's a future to look forward to after this painful journey through her past.
