This was a very beautiful way to end it. The whole thing really was a very very good take on something that is very heavy. The simplicity in how youve written it and how the scenes are really hit me. Because in reality that is how it looks outside, we know Jim is struggling but the world is turning and he's getting better. Truly a journey. I hope my comment makes sense, this is just a really refreshing take on a subject matter like this. I really appreciate it's nuance and poignancy
Author's Response:
I've read all your reviews on this, and I'm happy you enjoyed it. Honestly, I find this to be one of my weaker stories. I think it's too melodramatic, and I was probably reading too much into Jim's state of mind. Like, he'd struggle with his work/life balance and letting Pam down, but not debilitatingly so. Heck, I decided not to use this as a companion piece as part of the rewrite, unlike "Manager for the Day." Even so, it's nice to see some positive reception on an old story of mine.
Thanks for all the reviews!
PS: You got it, that was Jane Lynch. She'll be in the rewrite, too.

A nice way of showing that this is a marathon of a journey, not a sprint. Healing's not going to come instantly, but he's on the right path.
Author's Response: Exactly. He's wising up, knowing what he's done wrong and where he can improve. It's a tough journey, but worth it. Speaking from experience.

Always love a good Dadddy Jim moment and this one is great. He's right there for the people who really need him and it's great.

I like this. There in S9 Jim and Dwight really did become a lot closer and this brings that out nicely.
Author's Response: Thanks! Their alliance is a strong one.

I can imagine he's nervous, but hopefully in a good, ready to really figure this out kind of way.
Author's Response: Yup! At this point, all he wants is to better himself.

This looks to be a nice little side trip from your main story.
Jim sleeping in till 1pm seems to feel right. He's been under a lot of stress and now his body is already playing catch up.
Author's Response: Thanks! Yeah, boy needed some rest.

Yes for a solid Dwim friendship scene, complete with Battlestar Galactica.

Something that occurs to me - how much is the couples counseling going to play into Never Give Up? Is this going to serve as something of a replacement for that?
Author's Response: Not to go into spoiler territory, but yes, couples counseling will be addressed very soon.

I like this touch - that a lot of what Jim was missing were things that drive parents up the wall sometimes.
Author's Response: We didn't get a lot of Dad Jim, which makes sense, but it's a joy to write.
