OMG. I have binge read this all day today and I could NOT. STOP. READING. It was everything! Paris and Jam and the angst and the sweet, sweet, sweet resolution of their angsty path. It was incredible! Such an amazing AU. I laughed at Dwight and Henri, felt my heart swell at the charmingly adorable Michael, and just loved this. Amazing! Thank you so much for this sweet work of art!

Oh, I'll miss the college flashbacks a lot. However, I'm excited to read the rest!

Argh, this story was so perfect it almost hurt! I love how you wrote these two; even with the situation reversed, you still managed to capture all that pining and longing and love that kept me hooked on the show to begin with!
Author's Response:
Thank you so much! That's so lovely to hear - I'm really glad you enjoyed it :) The pining and longing was definitely what got me Hooke don the show too. Thanks for reading, and for taking the time to leave feedback - I really appreciate it!

The comment about ‘not being a woman who only eats salad’ was actually so perfectly Ryan lmao. (Definitely made me want to slap him though!)
Author's Response: Haha, thanks - I'm glad you thought it was in character, I definitely felt like I could see him coming out with something that awful/irritating. And I was going for a generally slappable Ryan, so glad that came across lol.

Ah, thin walls. You’re throwing me right back to my first year of uni with that. *shudders* at least you showed Pam some mercy haha! 🖤
Author's Response: Thanks very much! And yes, haha - thin walls at uni is definitely an unfortunate memory I can relate to...but I didn't want to be that cruel to Pam (I figured she's probably miserable enough at this point). Thanks so much for the review!

Absolutely loved this. So beautifully written. Vivid and beautiful characterisation. Thank you for writing this x
Author's Response: Sorry for the slow reply - but thank you so much! I'm so thrilled to hear you enjoyed it - thanks very much for taking the time to leave a review, I really appreciate it :)

Ughhhhhhhhhhh I want to just shake them lol!
Author's Response: Haha, thanks and sorry! I actually had to check which chapter you were talking about lol, I realise I've probably got several chapters in this where they might need shaking...

OK, so I was a UK student (in the 90s). We never went to Magaluf. But I did stay with a boyfriend in Palma Nova once. Split up with him there. Probably for the best as I met my now husband a few weeks later.
Just discovered this great story when I should be doing Tax Regulation training, even through the angst and the keeping them apart is driving me NUTS - it’s a must-read.
Author's Response:
Lol yeah to be fair, I think Magaluf is where everyone went when I was a student...which is probably out of date by now, not sure where the go-to place is these days. And nice! Sounds like that was definitely for the best haha.
Thanks so much for taking the time to review, really glad you're enjoying it (and sorry for the slow reply!) I have previously also managed to get through a surprisingly high volume of reading anything but the accountancy training modules I was meant to be reading, so know the feeling 😏

Absolutely loved the whole fic. Thanks for writing it.
Author's Response: Thank you so much! And thanks so much for reading and taking the time to leave reviews - I really appreciate it, I've loved reading all of them! :)

I was really hoping he would end up going to Paris. I think you chose the perfect impetus for it. Loved this.
Author's Response: Thanks so much! So I did think it was time for Jim to step up after several chapters of Pam pretty much driving everything, lol. I'm really glad you liked it!

I'm really glad you had Pam go to Paris. I'm really glad that Karen is professional Karen here. And Michael is very in character.
Author's Response: Thanks very much! I did feel like Pam needed to do that after everything that happened in college. And I pretty much loved writing every moment with Michael haha, so really glad he seemed in character!

I think you did really really well with how this fallout works.
Author's Response: Thank you so much! Yeah, I think it sort of needed to happen - and as much as I wanted to get Jim and Pam to a happy ending after all the angst, I thought there was also a small element of this being a mess of their own making, with consequences...
Date: May 02, 2021 07:36 pm Title: Chapter 25
Yeah honestly Karen deserved that. I am very much rooting for these folks. That should not be a surprise given that we are on a Jim/Pam site but I'm rooting for specifically your versions.
Author's Response: Ah, thanks very much :) And yeah, she sort of had it coming...
Date: May 02, 2021 07:19 pm Title: Chapter 24
I mean I can see a chapter count and this story has enough angst in it to make me feel like a corner has not necessarily been turned. But I like where this is going.
Author's Response: Haha - an *almost* corner? They're getting there. Slowly. Thanks!

Again Jim is way too passive here but I do get it in this case because Pam is asking him to be. But I really do think you've latched on to the weakness in Jim's character in a really interesting way. I really really enjoy this fic. Despite not usually being a connoisseur of angst.
Author's Response:
Thanks so much! That's really lovely to hear haha - I don't know that I was totally intending for it to be quite this angsty when I first started writing, but...
So I did go back and forth a bit on how quickly Jim would want to act if he was in this scenario. I think his instinct would've been to break up with Karen immediately - I think he's passive up to a point, but once he's realises he wants something he goes for it - but yeah, I also think he doesn't like making things difficult for people. I couldn't have seen him voluntarily carrying on with something like this for several weeks though, which is sort of the timeline in Something Borrowed.
Date: May 02, 2021 06:51 pm Title: Chapter 22
This is totally fair, and definitely something Jan would do. Interesting that Karen doesn't seem to have called Jim or anything like that... But then again the relationship is really not that great. Poor Pam.
Author's Response: Thanks! That is something I wanted to have a bit of in this chapter - it's not just that Karen isn't really there for Jim, it's also that Karen doesn't look to him for comfort/support, and he doesn't know how to offer that to her in a way that works for her. And her not calling him is just part of that. Which is a big contrast to his relationship with Pam. And I know, I think I've let Pam be screwed over by the timing quite a lot in this fic, oops.

So I really enjoy how you use elements from both season two and season three here in a really productive way to make your own AU make perfect sense. I love what you did with the place.
Author's Response: Thank you very much! I'm really pleased you think it worked - although it is definitely easier when a lot of the excellent material is already there, haha.
Date: May 02, 2021 06:39 pm Title: Chapter 20
Ah there's the Jim and Pam banter. Love the choices you've made in this chapter and so glad you included Michael.
Author's Response: Thanks so much! Really glad you enjoyed it :) And yes haha, I did want to bring Michael in at some point...
