I would say it's both super cute AND major depress-o. It's very JAM in the sense that it's very real, you know? In many ways much moreso than the comic set-up of the episode. We don't see them wrestling as much with the idea of becoming parents as their situation suggests they probably would have, and I'm glad you've taken on filling that gap.
I do think folks start thinking about their mortality a lot during pregnancy, and it certainly makes sense that this revelation would send Pam down a dark hole a bit.
The bits of them taking care of each other are lovely... and the fact that they've both been shielding each other from their feelings for the other's sake is sweet and very them and very ominous if you know what's coming in canon.
I also feel like I can really easily imagine Jim's side of this story without getting a look inside his head, which was neat.
Jim's interactions with Cece are ADORABLE.
And finally: WAS THE WHEELCHAIR RACES A RESTART SHOUT OUT.

Lady. I should've known you were up to something with the casual epi mention. What a heartfelt glimpse into their night. It's canon now.
"What will happen if I’m not there to protect them one day?" - "If I'm being really honest, it's a love letter to my kids." ;)
For what it's worth, the Farmer Jim nudge made my smile stretch too.

Hi this broke my heart and made my life complete all at the same time.
He picked someone else over me before.
What’s to stop him from doing it again?
I mean, really just killing me right off the bat there, AG. Pam was so perfect throughout all of this and their fears and concerns were so real and genuine and ugh. So good.

"It’s silly and irrational and I know I know I know that it is, but I really don’t see that until Dwight is sexually harassing him for the cameras and suddenly we’re standing in a Rite-Aid in the middle of a work day because somehow, this blood pressure machine will make a fine lie detector test." I love how succinctly you summed up Pam's state of mind and made me laugh at the same time. I'm already in love with this story.
"He doesn’t ask questions when he sees me. He doesn’t even miss a word in the book. I’m sure he has it memorized by now. He simply glances up at me with those bright green eyes, winks, and tilts his head subtly at the footrest of the glider chair as he shifts his feet to the floor, knowing I probably wouldn’t make it up off the ground with our son at this point.
I wonder, as our daughter’s bedtime comes and goes, if he gives in to her request for four more books for her benefit or for mine. He does it all with a smile. With his dress shoes still on, his tie only a little bit loosened due to Cece fidgeting with it as she falls asleep." This entire dinner/bedtime routine scene is adorable and lovely, but this particular moment is a real punch to the ovaries. I can't even pretend to make fun of the term "dress shoes" like I've been planning since Friday night because this moment is so perfect and I kind of want to hide out in the hallway and listen to Jim read bedtime stories, even if that is a little creepy.
Pam's slow realization through the evening that Jim has been doing more and more of the work at home and at work and just -- Stop this. Stop making me feel all of these swoony emotions over a fictional character. (Just kidding, please never stop.)
This ENTIRE conversation in their bedroom is just so, so perfectly done. I'm continuously impressed with how you can take a scene from any episode of this show and turn it into something so real and true to the characters and to real life. And his asking what is he's not enough here just makes her asking if she's not enough that much better.
"And I know that the way he is making me laugh right now, echoing beneath our bedroom sheets that smell like his cologne and my perfume and our daughter’s stale Cheerios, quietly so that we don’t wake her, is so much better." Way to really get in one last punch on your way out the door.
I'm so happy you decided to write this! Please keep writing all the one-shots based on all of the random scenes. We need them. And now I guess I have to go see what Farmer Jim is up to.

This has just about everything. Daddy Jim, sweet intimate moments, fun banter, bullying Coley for more Farmer Jim, all great.
Also a very real kind of situation. The thoughts and fears of both of them just feel very real. Pam's emotions all over the place due to her pregnancy. Jim hoping he'll be enough for both Cece and Phillip. Clinging to each other. I remember being in a very similar position as you portrayed Jim in here before my daughter was born so it really hit home.
Bravo. Really well done with this one AG.

Well. This was just beautiful. Is there a word for “fluff but kinda heavy with serious subject matter”? ‘Cause this is the definition.
I’m not a parent yet, but I’ve had friends confide in me about the exact same fears, and it’s so freakin real and you captured it perfectly.

This was so lovely!! (I would definitely say super cute rather than depressing). I felt like that whole episode with Jim's blood pressure was quite rushed, so it's really nice reading something that gives it more context, and actually dives into why Jim might have been feeling stressed, and his insecurities about the second pregnancy. Them telling each other their fears and comforting each other was just beautiful, and I loved the little thing of him making an effort to clean the mirror for her. Also, Jim being a good dad with Cece is my favourite, and the way you've written it here is adorable. I also loved, loved Pam thinking he's going to be a good dad not just because he'll be fun, but because he'll teach him how to be as kind and loving as he is. And her not doubting his ability to do that for a second. And I really felt like I needed this line after Cathy: "There is no reason to when she gets his second-rate Zoolander jokes and I get to make up silly scenarios with my husband about our children putting us into a nursing home one day, already placing bets on who will win the wheelchair races." This was just all so great!

Okay, you can do it all. I already knew that, but this really settles it. This was heartbreaking but in the sweetest, most perfect, and beautiful way. I loved it so much, AG! Amazing.

Wow. As a writer, you certainly have RANGE. You write things like Slow and Alcoholic Jim and this too. This was so beautiful.

“I’m watching that episode with Cathy” she says nonchalantly one day and then the next she says: “hello, here is a very real and vulnerable look at their fears that we don’t get to see” and it was heartbreaking and perfect and holy crap, lady.
