"Kissing Jim has become her new religion." Amazing.
"Her favorite part is how she can feel him smiling when they kiss; as if the act itself is physical evidence of how happy she makes him. And it’s contagious. Sometimes it feels like they’re doing more smiling than kissing these days." Also amazing, and very, VERY them. Exactly how I'd picture that summer for them.
I also picture them doing a lot of what you have them doing here... having awkward conversations about things they needed to, or things like their sexual histories that have been Very Off Limits to them in their old friendship. Like Pam has probably wanted to know who Jim's been kissing for a long time, but would never have asked because of reasons.
I like the way you phrase Jim's question, too, which is another thing I'm sure he's been thinking about for a while. Not just why not him, or why so long, but why Roy?
It feels like you found an accurate head space for Pam - she doesn't have this clear-minded, well-reasoned if poorly-founded monologue in her head about why she's making the decisions she's making. She just kind of makes it and tries to figure out why after the fact.
"Pam Beesly’s entire life has centered around this very notion: I can’t." Ouch. I mean, true, but ouch.

This was so lovely. I would never have known that this was your first story! The way you move from the little moments of elation and disbelief to sadness and the lingering regret and heartbreak they both feel was just so well written. All the little moments, the funny and the sweet and the nervous, were beautiful. Looking forward to more from you!
Author's Response: Thank you for commenting! I really appreciate it :)

Loving this, you’ve captured them so well, and I love the fluff/angst combo.

I almost cried three times while reading the casino night part. You did so unbelievably well with that. My heart was breaking right alongside theirs and I didn't want it to stop. This story is just amazing.
Author's Response: That means so much to me, thanks!

Another great installment. I really like how they're being so open about everything. They have a lot of emotional baggage to unpack and you're writing it in a way that's careful, tender, and yet honest at the same time.
The flashback to Casino Night and its aftermath was very well done. One can really get the turmoil she was going through during the call to her Mom, the Kiss, and trying to navigate afterwards. How after she had a glimpse of what her heart truly longed for and needed, there was no way Roy would fit in with that.
You're doing a great job of mixing the bitter and the sweet in a very realistic way. Looking forward to more.

MY HEART.
And I mean that in every way possible. You made my heart melt with the sweetness and fluff: "Sometimes it feels like they’re doing more smiling than kissing these days." UGH. MY FREAKING HEART. I know I smile when they kiss.
I felt a literal pang in my chest reading Pam's post casino night experience. Your double use of the "I can't" had me gasping out loud. Brilliant, I say.
I love reading them working together to figure all this out, and then sharing that sweet moment at the end. It makes my heart soar (with the eagle's nest). You have such a way with words. I cannot wait for more!!
Author's Response: Thank you, your comment made my heart soar (with the eagle's nest!)

This was written so beautifully. I really felt both of their emotions the entire time. Words cant really accurately portray how much I loved this, but I hope you know I really did. I hope you keep writing because this was fantastic.

First of all welcome to MTT. Always fun to have new writers here.
Starting out with The First Date is a great way to go. I loved how you treated it. Pam's nerves getting to her as she gets ready seemed very real. I think that may have been one of the quickest in and out at the restruant for the first date I've ever read. After the big admission from each other about how they both love each other, yeah get going to more interesting parts of the night.
Nice to see Pam put on the brakes when they get back to Jim's place. She wants to do things right and he's right there with her. And they start out with some good open and honest communication. Some tough emotions, but it's setting the stage for a great relationship. After everything they've gone through, they can still trust each other with everything and that's lovely to see.
All in all very sweet, romantic, and heartfelt. Looking forward to anything new you write as this was fantastic.
Author's Response: I'm so glad you enjoyed, thank you!

Another fic where - yeah, they take it slow - lot of built of sexual tension there and yes, they know they're in love and have both already shared with each other, but lots of reasons to wait too. I think you managed to address both the wanting to jump right in and knowing they shouldn't. Glad they waited.
Yeah, another fic where the cameras are addressed, especially since the doc team knows this date is about to happen. I like how you managed to have them evade the spys.
Overall it was a beautifully told first date story, where you touched on everything that needed to be, stayed in their characters and left a beautiful picture in my mind.
Welcome to MTT and wonderful job. Looking forward to future stories from you.
Author's Response: Thanks for reading! More to come.

"That Freedom Fries guy did not count." This was so perfect. I laughed out loud.
"If she’d been honest with him from the start, they’d have done this years ago." It's so real. And so raw. And it hurt.
"and now she knows exactly why his ears are pink." OOF. YA she does. Loved this whole image.
"She’s hungry, all right, but not for surf n’ turf." Literally laughed out loud.
“I’ve never settled for being second best. I’m mad at myself for letting you take that away from me.” Okay. So. This entire website has made me sympathize with Karen. You just did it again. This line. OW.
“But things like that don’t happen to me." This absolutely broke my heart. The fact that she's just used to it by now? Poor bb.
Hi. This is your first time writing? I do not believe that in the slightest. This was BEAUTIFUL. The imagery. The way you weaved them together and made this so real? Loved it. More please.
Author's Response: I copied this from Ao3 so I should have been more clear, but it’s not my first time writing (I’m very active in the X Files fandom) but it’s my first time writing The Office. Thank you so much for your lovely comment, everyone here is so kind and welcoming! And I do have more chapters coming :)

Welcome to MTT!! This was so good! It felt real, and so true to both of these characters we know and love. I love how we see a mix of Fancy New Beesly boldness as well classic Pam nervousness. All of it was perfect! Well done. :)
Author's Response: Thank you! I’m excited to join the community :)

Ah, yay! I'm happy you brought this one over!
You did a really good job with the vibe and the dialogue between them - it's not too talky, they're not too perfect or well-spoken. There's some awkwardness, some intensity, they're alternating between hesitant and bold. It's imperfect and they're a little insecure. It feels a lot like them.
I always appreciate when people acknowledge the camera crew, kudos on bringing in their well-earned paranoia about it. I like Jim's scheme here - brutal, but efficient.
I like this take on the terrace story... obviously it's important to her, but you can definitely see her in that scene trying to remind herself that it's Roy who she's building her future with, and it's definitely a new perspective on it to see her aware of that.
Congrats on your first Jam fanfic, and welcome to MTT! We're happy to have you here.
Author's Response: Thanks for reading!

You had me hooked with the title on this one, and then the writing was just so beautiful and real that I couldn't stop reading even if I tried.
I love the way you navigated us through the date and through Pam's self-consciousness. And then, oh my gosh, them leaving early and KISSING LIKE THAT. I think I gasped out loud. The scene at Jim's place is so so good. (Stevie Nicks really makes it for me, but I digress.) I'm not an angst girl, but I'm making an exception for this because you did it so well. I love the way they unpack their feelings for one another and their regrets and past fears. So sweet, so real, and so very jammy. Welcome to MTT! I hope you write more!
Author's Response: Thanks so much for your comment, and I couldn't resist the BN song. It fit that moment too perfectly!
