A little sad that it took Pam another year to really figure things out. Waking up next to strangers, trying to get lost in various clubs, not really knowing what she was doing. Clearly she was running from Jim and also herself.
I would agree with others who are asking for either an epilogue or even a sequel. After all the angsty build-up in this fic, the ending feels almost rushed in comparison. Now I'm very happy that Pam got her act together and went home to Jim. But I feel there's also more story to tell with Jim's side of things especially. His feelings of Pam running away a second time, how the divorce went down, his feelings with her just showing up and kissing him like that. Seems like great fodder for continuing the tale that's for sure.
Good job throughout everything with this one.

Aw! This ending was very sweet! Very Jam!
Pam realizing what her life had become, and taking the initiative to change it? There's the Fancy New Beesly we all know and love!
Sad to see this story end, but so happy it ended on this note!

Well, I'm glad they got their happy ending after all. Although really, this feels like it could have easily ended in disaster for Pam. I guess true love wins out in the end!

My joy when I saw there was an update was dampened a bit when I saw that the new chapter completed the story. I've really enjoyed this. You write beautifully and I was hooked immediately. So much so that I'd be happy for it to go on and on. Such an interesting premise, seemed very in character, well done!
Author's Response: I am so happy you enjoyed this story! I always looked forward to your reviews and I really appreciate the kind words on my writing. thank you for being such an amazing reader!

A very sweet ending.
I know that this story is over, but do you
think we could get an epilogue?
Author's Response: I'm happy you liked the ending, and yes, there is a possibility that an epilogue could happen.

OUCHY OUCHY OUCH OUCH OUCH!
Aw girl, this argument HURTS! And in ANOTHER PARKING LOT?! What is up with broken hearts in the parking lot?
Regardless, I loved this chapter, and I NEED to know what happens next!!!!!!
Author's Response: you will know VERY soon, the ending is on its way!

This chapter is so maddening!
However, it is pretty fitting with their
characters. Even though I want JAM
together, Jim is still legally married,
and it probably would be best if Pam doesn’t
get involved with that. Divorce proceedings
can take a long time.
Author's Response: exactly! its frustrating but sometimes these things take time. thank you for the review!

So yeah this one hits kind of hard. I really get the sense that Pam doesn't know what she wants. I know she loves Jim, it's just buried under a huge pile of crap right now. The fact she hasn't dealt with her feelings from Casino Night or from seeing him again on this return trip. She still has a ton of denial to work through. I also get that she would be really shocked with him showing up like this and saying that. Especially coming right on the heels of him saying his marriage is over. Big time feelings and it feels like she still doesn't know where to go. The momentary feeling of bliss when he hold her should have pointed her in the right direction, but she's still scared so she pushes away again.
So how will this all resolve? She's running away again. Will Jim get some steel in his spine and follow her? I hope so. Still it feels like for them to truly be happy, there's a metric butt ton of emotional baggage they both need to unpack. Great writing to bring that all out.
Author's Response: the next chapter will deal with them tackling their emotions as well as how they get together. HOW I'm going to write all that is still up in the air, lol. happy you are still enjoying the story, and I hope you like the conclusion!

Some interesting material here. There's been a not-particularly flattering picture of Karen drawn in this fic so far, and here we get some very strong indications that Jim's not exactly been a joy to live with either, which feels like a good choice. You also did well making the Jim-Julia relationship feel lived in.
"Pam used to sit in his passenger's seat, back when his car was shittier and his outlook on life was better. He remembers wanting to hold her hand as he drove her home, to pull her close and tell her that Roy could go to hell, that he loved her. But instead he stayed still, letting the radio say what he couldn't." That's, again, just very good writing.
Author's Response: thank you for the compliment and the review! I was nervous about how the Jim-Julia relationship would work, so happy it went over well.

"He fucked up, again. He never learns." Oh, why don't you just sh**t me already.
"He remembers wanting to hold her hand as he drove her home, to pull her close and tell her that Roy could go to hell, that he loved her." AAAAAAAAH! GOD this line here did things to my heart. Made it feel warm, yet blue at the same time!
This chapter hurt BADLY! OOF, I can't wait to see what Jim says!
Date: June 17, 2021 12:38 pm Title: I'm waiting around for you
It really feels like things are spinning around in a storm for everyone right now. Jim is hungover and wishing he was with Pam but still being a good dad. Karen is all buisness as soon as she gets home. Feels like she's at her breaking point to be sure thus her calling the lawyer. As we saw last chapter Pam is also hurt and confused. Good writing to bring all that out.
Hopefully with some time everyone will be able to cool down a bit and get some perspective while sober about everything.
Author's Response: thank you for the review! I love the way you describe this chapter as a "storm" because in so many ways, Jim and Pam are in the eye of a hurricane, hopefully things will call down soon.
Date: June 17, 2021 08:48 am Title: I'm waiting around for you
I think that Jim is definitely giving off
some mixed signals to both P&K.
Jim says that he wasn’t ready for marriage,
but he’s upset about Karen getting a lawyer.
Also he kisses Pam and then ignores her call.
It’s no wonder both women are upset and confused.
If Jim’s not careful he’s going to end up all alone.
Date: June 17, 2021 06:52 am Title: I'm waiting around for you
Ok, I would like to shake Jim for not listening to Pam's voicemail, though I get it. If he listens and she is telling him goodbye, that's it. Game over. Not listening keeps hope and possibility alive. I'd still like to grab his phone. There is a real possibility that, after not hearing from him for a week, she has gone back to Paris heartbroken again.
I also get why Pam walked away. He just found out his wife wants a divorce, he is drinking anniversary champagne, they are in his house with his wedding photos prominently displayed, his toddler asleep upstairs. . .not the best of circumstances to launch into a passionate love affair. He isn't divorced, he isn't even technically separated. Also telling someone you want a divorce and getting divorced are not the same.
Just soooooo good!
Author's Response: thank you for the review! and yes, their choices make sense, but still HURT (even I'm mad at Jim and I WROTE IT), hopefully things will start to look up soon. I'm happy you are enjoying the story!
Date: June 12, 2021 08:40 pm Title: A different night, a different story
Okay, ouch to taking that champagne bottle and drinking it, Jim. But I get it, being told over the phone that your S.O. wants a divorce would cause me to pop a bottle.
These two just never get the timing right, do they? I know how badly they'd want to deepen that moment there.
Hopefully, things work out for them both!
Date: June 12, 2021 04:33 pm Title: A different night, a different story
This was so good. The two of them finally sharing the root causes of why they are where they are rather than the flimsy, superfluous nonsense.
Really looking forward to how they end up resolving it.
Author's Response: I'm happy you liked it! I'm also excited to see how it ends, lol.
Date: June 12, 2021 12:37 pm Title: A different night, a different story
I think it's very telling that Pam is the first person Jim goes to. Even with them starting to talk about Casino Night and what's gone on since then, theres still a lot of pain covering up the feelings that are still there for both of them. However they are talking about it. That line that the table was the hospital, birth through pain seems very telling as to how things are going to turn out for them.
Pam realizing she's running away again was tough to read. However she's also right. He's drunk and even though they both know his marriage is over, it's still not right to tread there quite yet. I'm sure they will get there, but it'll just take some more time.
There was a lot of big movement from both of them, so that was good to see. Looking forward to the next update.
Author's Response: "we never did get the timing right" is Pams current mantra, but hopefully her tune will change in the next few chapters.
Date: June 12, 2021 09:43 am Title: A different night, a different story
I was disappointed that Pam walked away from Jim, but I understand why. She doesn’t want to be just a rebound for him since he just told her that he is getting divorced. Even though Jim said
that he and Karen only married because she
was pregnant, Pam could see that he was still upset about it. I want JAM to be together, but I think Jim kind of jumped the gun in this chapter
by kissing her. The timing just wasn’t right.
I also think that this chapter shows that one of JAM’s biggest problems was their lack of communication.
Author's Response: "five years but they were just up front about their feelings" would be the shortest fic on Mtt because you are 100% right, they currently have awful communication. hopefully that will change shortly. glad your enjoying the fic so far!
Date: June 12, 2021 07:44 am Title: Prologue: what she left behind.
I’m not liking her leaving Jim, again. After 5 years of missing him, she does it AGAIN. And then says to herself internally to let him go? Yeah, don’t like it, just sayin’. She doesn’t need to jump into a relationship with him, but clearly they still love one another, 5 years later Jim and Pam need to get it together to be a newer, improved, not going to hold back Jim and Pam. Enjoying reading this story! Please update soon and please don’t let them stay in this rut!!
Author's Response: so happy you are liking this story! and don't worry, they will be out of this rut soon enough. it's just all about trusting the process right now.

Jim and Pam splitting Jim and Karen's anniversary champagne is a nice touch. So was the uncalled jinx.
Author's Response: I couldn't resist the urge to include that Jinx, easily one of my favorite S2 jam moments. I'm glad you enjoyed the chapter!

Please update soon.
Author's Response: I will! Life has just been hectic lately, but I promise a new chapter will be up shortly. Happy your enjoying the story so much!
Date: June 05, 2021 06:07 pm Title: What he lost
This feels sadly Jim-like - he had his moment of grasping for something he really wanted, and it didn't work out, and he went back to letting himself be swept along in life. Distressing. But it looks like Pam has jarred him loose again.
Date: June 05, 2021 08:00 am Title: What he lost
I must have missed the context clues about a shotgun wedding, but now it makes sense.
I just feel so bad for Jim and Karen (mostly Jim), muddling through a marriage that was doomed to fall apart.
I’m happy they wanted to do if for their daughter’s sake, but who are we kidding? The moment Pam reentered his life, we knew it was all downhill.
To find out she wanted a divorce via a phone call? Not the best way to relay that info, Karen.
Great chapter, cannot WAIT to see where this will be going nexf!
Date: June 05, 2021 06:01 am Title: What he lost
Nice to get some perspective from Jim. Seems Casino Night really threw him for a loop. Especially with Pam leaving the way she did. So in that sense it makes sense that he'd latch on to anything that even remotely helps to ease off the pressure he's feeling. Even if he knows from the off that it's not love. However then Julia showed up. So good for him for making sure he's doing the right thing.
However this also confims that all was not right with him and Karen, and really never was. Clearly Karen felt that too.
So it seems that their marriage is ending. Gotta wonder how this will effect Pam and her new found desire to try and really get over Jim.
Date: June 05, 2021 05:07 am Title: What he lost
Seeing things from Jim’s POV was interesting.
I had a feeling that he and Karen had a shotgun wedding when Jim told Pam that Julia was there when they got married. I have to say that I’m surprised that it was Karen that brought up a divorce first. I thought she would at least put up
a fight fight to keep him like Karen did in canon.
In a strange way seeing things from Jim’s POV
makes me think that Karen has been feeling trapped in their marriage as well. Since Karen
has also wanted out at least it doesn’t make
Jim a huge asshole for wanting to be with Pam.
Another thing I’m wondering about is if Karen has a person that she has feelings for, like Jim does for Pam.
I will say that I’m surprised that Karen left the baby even though she told Jim she need time.
Was Karen also feeling trapped by her daughter?
I wonder what Jim will think when Pam tries to move on now that he is about to be single?
Their timing was always off. Could we get some more chapters from Jim’s side of the story?
I like seeing Pam, and Julia, through his eyes.
Please update soon.
