I’m sorry it took me nearly a year to read this because it’s a delight. You captured their early relationship vibe so well: everything is so fun and exciting and they wanna stay in their little bubble forever but they know they can’t and it causes just a little bit of tension.
I love the story of how they landed on ‘birdcage’ as their safe/code word (and am nostalgic for the days of Netflix by mail and my very finely curated Queue) and I like the idea that Oscar figured it out early on, or rather the first to catch them mackin in the Cugino’s parking lot like a couple high schoolers (this is my headcanon now). Everyone’s voices are great, the situations you get J&P in are fun and feel true to the show and of the course the bits of steam are *chefs kiss*. A fine addition to the ‘summer of ‘07’ collection

"They haven’t had an actual conversation about exclusivity since they started dating. Maybe it’s because that very first night something intangible – yet powerful – had passed between them, like an unspoken vow: they belonged to each other and they both knew it. A verbal designation seemed superfluous." I LOVE THIS.
“What?” she asks.
He shakes his head, smiling. “Nothing.”
“No, tell me. What is it?”
“I just really want to kiss you right now.”
“Because of this?”
“Because of everything.”
Ugh. The BEST kind of ugh.
I will always always always love fics about the time they had to keep things secret and this is no exception. As always, you nail the playfulness and the sexiness and the playful sexiness. 😂 I loved it so much!!

This was such a fun read. Oscar is so spot on! I'm a sucker for a fic that shows jam navigating the first summer of their relationship, this did NOT disappoint! Just brilliant!

You doesn’t love a domineering and possessive Jim? I’m all for it.
Author's Response: 🔥🔥🔥

Okay, I vaguely remembered the birdcage thing, I’m gonna have to rewatch the superfan episodes again.
But anyway, this is such an amazing read! It felt genuined how they were so excited to be finally be dating and getting to experience it all without the presence of a camera crew.
The Michael and his Netflix bit was funny (wow renting out Netflix… such a time portal jump). Those two are such troublemakers. Although, it’s just as funny that they’re going at it like rabbits that they don’t even finish the movies.
Oscar was a fun add. Him knowing all along was so… him.
Great job!
Author's Response: I was wondering if I needed to add an explanation/ disclaimer for those readers who never got to experience the joy of mailing their Netflix movies back 😆 Glad to send you down a time portal. Thanks for reading!

This was so fucking sweet and clever and hilarious. You get ten points, a gold star, and a thumbs up. I don't really know how to compare those units, but five jellybeans ought to do.
Author's Response: Yay! Thanks! Glad it checked all your boxes. TWSS.

Okay, STRONG opening line and opening exchange. I'm guffawing. And I love the idea of Pam repeatedly asserting girlfriend privilege and how charmed Jim is by it. AND you brought it all the way back around!
"That she’s never been more in love than she is right now, sharing a bag of pretzels with her best friend Jim in their boring break room." That's so them.
"How about the next Michael movie that shows up will be our code word" YOU DO FOSSE, FOSSE, FOSSE! MARTHA GRAHAM, MARTHA GRAHAM, MARTHA GRAHAM! This also feels like it fits the crafted scenario as a movie Michael would definitely watch but not want anyone to know he watched.
“Do you really think anyone here cares what we say? Or even pays any attention to us at all?” Delilah: *Jims the camera*
"It honestly doesn’t bother her, but the fact that it bothers him makes her love him even more." Too cute.
Very solid Oscar voice - him starting with the part that sounds clever and throwing in that he just happened upon them once as a side note.
This has a remarkable feeling of early Season 4 canon, right down to its socks.
Author's Response: Haha I love that Delilah is just hanging around in the background in all my fics for you whether she’s in them or not (she’s always in them). Thanks for the review, DJC!

So, this started out cute and steamy at the same time. Pam being able to make Jim do a spit take like that, for those reasons, at this point in their relationship is just all sorts of fun.
It feels very them that they'd want to put in a system like this. Even without the steamy undertones it feels like something they would do. Almost a feeling of "why haven't we done this before?" The fact that there are still one or two people who would be on to them, like Oscar, is probably the reason. A good Oscar voice too. Direct and to the point with Jim and Pam because he knows of everyone in the office they're the one's who could deal with being direct like that.
The then get into reasons for a safe word as opposed to a code word. They're probably new to that sort of thing, but I'm sure it'll only get better with experience.
Lots of fun through all of this for sure.
Author's Response: Thanks for your review, as always! It was fun writing Oscar in particular so I appreciate that he rang true for you.

Ok this was too cute and too funny. I started making a list of everything I wanted to call out in this review but it would have basically been putting the whole fic into this box.
The dialogue is SO spot on, it just feels like canon. For all of the characters.
I loved Oscar calling to interrupt Michael’s public congratulations.
Such a good job with this one! Loved it!!
Now you know I don’t have the superfan episodes, tell me more about this dominant Jim…
Author's Response: We love some dominant Jim. 😏

I really enjoyed this little peek at the early days of (official, yet still under wraps) Jam.
*They haven’t had an actual conversation about exclusivity since they started dating. Maybe it’s because that very first night something intangible – yet powerful – had passed between them, like an unspoken vow: they belonged to each other and they both knew it. A verbal designation seemed superfluous.*
This seemed to ring true.
So I really bought the the whole bit with Michael, Pam and the Netflix movies. It was a fun and very them way to pick the word and this made me laugh- you really nailed both Michael and Jim here"
*Michael glares at him. “It’s none of your business, Jim. I forgot.”
Jim looks confused. “It’s none of my business, or you forgot?”*
Yeah, I buy Oscar knowing all along but also this was fun: *“I also saw you in the Cugino’s parking lot last week making out in Jim’s car.”*
NOt up to that Superfan episode yet but I think I know the reference having seen some deleted scenes but I like where this one went in the end.
Two thumbs up - but what else would I expect from TD.
Author's Response: Glad you liked it! The Netflix thing struck me as totally something Pam would do, even before she was dating Jim. And the Superfan episode is (DM Infinity part 2 if you want to check it out)

Only you, our canon-complicit queen, would find the best answer as to where this term came from. UGH TD, this was everything!! THE SPICY ENDING 😍😍😍 Loving this turn to the kink side for them. This was amazing
Author's Response: Thanks, girl!
