How could I possibly get bored? This is the cutest. I love this little gift exchange. And the hug! Oh bless them
Author's Response: Aw thank you so much! Was in need of that reassurance haha!

Love that it's back to Jim and Pam on the swings. Back to Jim being able to pick up on what Pam is offering and he's responding in a way that draws her out. He's back to being able to get her and she responds right away. Very glad to see that they're both getting their heads back on after a bit of a rough patch. There will probably be more bumps ahead, but for now things have calmed.
To use my lighthouse analogy from a few chapters ago, where Jim's light had dimmed for a bit, it's now shining out clear. Pam has seen it and the winds and waves have settled a bit allowing her to make better progress towards shore.
Author's Response: Thank you!!

Absolutely don’t apologise for any delay! Although I had been missing this, but then realised I missed a chapter 😱
The bobble head!!! Can’t wait to see what happens!
Author's Response: Thank you so much! So glad you enjoy it!!

Again, you use the most profound metaphors. This one really struck me, about Jim being okay if Pam didn’t use an umbrella in the rain, that he just helped dry her off. That’s exactly what she needs— someone who will just help her, regardless of how she encounters the rain, judgment free. I’m bummed that Pam and Jim weren’t able to connect over the summer— could they have been pen pals or something??—but I am glad they are back together in class now! But the swings and the appearance of Karen are telling me this might not be as happy a reunion as I hoped for… hopefully it doesn’t slow Pam’s progress down too much!!
Author's Response: Thank you so much! It was harsh to have them separate over the summer but I wanted to emphasize that Pam was unable to advocate that she wanted to stay connected.

She lipped thank you!! This seems like a major breakthrough for Pam!! Jim is just the sweetest little kid! And he’s so observant… his big smile when she mouths thank you… what a great kid Gerald and Betsy are raising!! Despite the fact that Pam was too nervous to eat the yogurt, it’s okay— she’ll do it one day— because Jim will keep bringing it! I can totally see them off in a little corner of the school cafeteria with your words— just the sweetest picture! Thank you for this sweet story!
Author's Response: Thank you so much, so glad you enjoy it!

Sweet! Interesting hearing the vision of dad, how it changes the dynamic for Pam too.
Yay!!! Paint set gifts!!
Author's Response: Paint set time!!

Kind of feels like a bit of some backstory for why Pam's quiet. She gets intimidated by her father. Makes a certain amount of sense when you thing of it.
Awwww, Jim look at you go. Looks like he's made his choice as to which girl he is going to invest his time it. Well done, can't wait to see how Pam reacts to that.
Author's Response: Thank you! I’ve always felt there was more to Pam!

Lots going on here for sure. Wow. That Dwight sees that Pam is really trying and also is doing his best to run interference against Karen is really very nice. In his own Dwight-ish way he's looking out for Pam which is really nice.
Then Jim has a few of the clouds pulled away from his face. Karen is the pretty one but is jealous that Jim would be more apt to go for someone she see as plain, like Pam. Thus all the chirps in Jim's ear. The same with Jim loathing the idea of a long talk with Karen, nice adaptation from canon. That Jim would rather be with a Pam who doesn't talk instead of Karen who talks all the time is telling as well.
Really nice to see more and more progress from Pam. Her courage is building now that she realizes there are people out there other than family who will be in her corner. Lovely to see.
Author's Response: Thank you so much! It’s so fun to put in small hints to the show.

Feels like for the first time in her school career Pam is truly excited to get up for the day. Really nice to see that bit of progression. Kind of annoying that Karen is trying to hog Jim like this.
Then when they get there it's like she's become a new person. Quiet not because of fear but because of wonder. Looks like Jim is clocking that too. Especially with the hope in a frame watercolor there at the end. Nice use of it too.
Author's Response: Thank you so much! She’s getting there!

I can only imagine how daunting someplace like the cafeteria at lunch can be for someone like Pam… so loud and different from a controlled classroom setting and especially having to find a seat based on your social connections… enter our Jim— PAM’S Jim!
And the swings!! What a great image to jog Jim’s mind about his connection with Pam— and the swing imagery is just reflective of the two! And this beautiful sweet callback to mixed berry yogurt! OMG!!!!!
Author's Response: Thank you so much, your so sweet!

What a great description of Jim and Pam in how he felt rewarded for reading her through the silence of not speaking… similar to when they spoke without words— only glances and looks throughout the show. I work in the operating room and even before masks and the pandemic, I totally got this—you can have entire CONVERSATIONS without words, simply glances, eye rolls, smile crinkles, etc! Def in contrast to Katy’s babbling constant chatter. And yes, Pam is making progress! So glad she’s realized that she can speak without words! That used to kill me about the pandemic. When people would complain about “missing smiles” and “facial expressions”… you can read soooo much non verbally from the eyes up!!!

*CHEERS AND OVATION!!*
You captures how I felt when I was in my first art gallery and I love that! You can read brushstrokes and lines and understand the artist and the message they covey without any words …. LOVED THIS!!!
I am so very excited to see where this is going!!
Author's Response: Aw thank you so much! Art has always been a huge comfort and method of using me voice when it seems too hard, so I really enjoyed putting it into words!

Another awesome chapter. And no, youve not been too harsh with Karen, I could totally see how acting like this. Love Dwight in this. And Jim having the best bus ride of his life? Heart eye emojis all round
Author's Response: Thank you so much! Glad y’all are ok with Karen haha!

Oh Mr. Scott… what a sweet teacher.. and then he goes ahead in true Michael fashion oversteps both in role and in subject matter his first graders… on the other hand, wouldn’t it be fascinating to have The Classroom? Mr. Scott as first grade teacher with Jim, Pam, and Dwight as students?? Oh wait… you’re writing that!!! lol. And then we end with this sweet swing imagery which, to me, everything about Jim and Pam. Just darling! Thanks for bringing me back to old school days with my brand new school supplies— I could totally feel Pam’s heart beating with pride as she pulled out her new sketchbook for Jim— her WORDS!!! Thanks again!

You have the sweetest metaphors to describe Pam’s mutism— they are so descriptive and thoughtful. I love this ride home with Helene being cautiously optimistic, Penny singing Pam’s praises, and Pam bursting with pride— all while Helene must negotiate then safely across town in rush hour traffic! Helene, PLEASE stop on the way home to get pencils, for the love of God!!! Pam needs to draw!!!
Author's Response: Aw thank you!

How sweet!
I think my only suggestion would be… slow down b29;a039;
I know you mentioned missing a day to post.. life gets that way! Don’t rush these sweet characters and your wonderful story. Give yourself time b29;a039;b29;a039;
Author's Response: Oh thank you! I was getting nervous y’all were getting bored… but I’m happy to know you want it slower! Truly thank you!

Oh god, Pam being so excited for the field trip, only to sit in the corner of the bus and watch the trees. My poor heart!
The watercolour of the building!!!!
Have I mentioned I adore this?

More hard times ahead. Seems like Jim is trying to be friendly with everyone, as he does. Not quite sure if Karen is being deliberately mean here. What I do know is that for Pam to see someone erasing one of her few means of communication would hit hard. No wonder she's starting to regress. Hopefully Jim's sense of fairness will kick in here sometime soon.
Author's Response: Jim better get it together!

Oh Jim! What a sweet soul! How beautiful of him to see where Pam can communicate beyond just words! I’m sure this comes as a surprise to Pam too! What a significant statement in that she’s cracked the glass of her box— this is truly seeming to be a turning point for Pam! And with the help of Jim— I just love it! I love this visual of a young Dwight, still in his mustard shirt with his prized stapler— not to mention his trips to the library to check out children’s non-fiction books on bears! The pranks were never for Jim… but I have a feeling that they’re going to be to help Pam find her voice! Love Jim’s mention of them being a great team— yes Jim, yes you are! Go Jam!!! And sweet callback to the jello prank that started it all!!
