Very nice way to bring in that moment of Pam and Dwight friendship in the show into this world too. Looks like Dwight's been observant as to how to best have Pam communicate. Good for him. Pam needs someone else in her corner for sure. Feels like she got tossed a life ring there to help keep her head above water. The storm is still raging for sure, but it's at least a little easier to hold on.

Yeah, feels like a big huge storm of everything is brewing. I did also detect a bit of tenderness toward Dwight as well. Nice echo of the canon friendship Pam and Dwight share. Especially in and around S3.

I am super loving this story! In particular the description of her internal struggles is very interesting, and her progression coming in little tiny waves feels natural - as someone who has a fair amount of experience in this area Pam's inner turmoil flows quite naturally, which is great. I love that Jim put some thought into what he could bring Pam down to the mechanism of eating. I look forward to reading more!

Clearly she’s bringing home such great lessons from her work in psych which are translating to teaching her son compassion. I’m so glad Pam has found a friend who accepts her, words or no words, but also realizes that she has something to say— and that if you’re patient enough, you can even communicate with her without words. The yellow sun at the end symbolizes to me that sunnier days are coming for our Pam— thanks to our Jim. Love it!!!!

The fact she can at least form the words if not the sounds feels like big progress in a little package. Still lots of internal tumult going on for sure, but it also feels that off in the distance she can see the beacon of a lighthouse where once there were only crashing waves and wind. A faint glimmer of hope and safe harbor where once there was only darkness. And slowly the rudder of her life is starting to ease it's way over to set course for that still far off but always steady light.

Kind of makes sense that Pam's anxiety about talking would also bleed into other areas as well. Always worrying about how other kids will look at her and thus make fun of her. Considering most of her interactions have been negative that makes sense.
Really like that Jim can correctly figure out what Pam's drawing means. Kid is sharp for a first grader! It also gives him a bit more confidence going forward it seems like.
So he's back sitting next to her and has mixed berry yogurt. Awwww, that's sweet and an adorable callback. Feels like Pam's heart is starting to race for a new reason as Jim makes his way over. Glad to see it. She deserves a pick me up from everything swirling around her.

Pam seeking a quiet place of solitude rings true here. Cafeteria's are loud noisy places full of chatter. Something she's never been able to take part in so she seeks her own company. But now she's hoping for more.
Of course it's Roy and Katy that put some doubts in Jim's mind. Nothing can be 100% perfect so that's a nice bit of realism added in there. But more progress for Pam. Starting to rebel against her silence. Wanting to talk even if she feels like she still can't. So yeah a few steps forwards. But now she had a new outlet. One she can control and I love how she's jumping into this new form of expression. Look out world cause little Pam's going to get what she wants.

Oh Jim!! This is so sweet and hopeful. From Michael the teacher to Dwight in his overalls and dress shoes (and always , ALWAYS, about beets) to Roy the bully these are such great interpretations of Office characters. Of course Jim is patient and can interpret Pam’s expressions and face… no one else has been patient enough! Love that Pam feels at ease around him— and love the Jello call back! Delightful chapter!

I’m so relieved that Pam seems to have a reasonable plan to help her find her words! I know it won’t be easy, but it seems doable in small steps. Dwight ranting while Jim eats Jello is always a ton of fun. Also that Jim stands up and gets more of the attention on himself to deflect any real or imagined anxiety from Pam is just a perfect low key support move. Lets Pam just enjoy being the back-up partner here.
Love that Penny is also looking out for her big sister. Now that there's something they can all kind of grab hold with Pam. Finally a way in and it feels like those who do love and support Pam want to encourage this as much as possible. Nice little metaphor with the swings there at the end too.
