Girl. This is angst. SO. MUCH. ANGST. Like painful! I LOVED how you started this where they were actually in different locations but it seemed like they were just on opposite sides of the couch... soooo cold. And yikes! Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton? Who are no longer together? Ouch. Even more angst. The whole stream of conscience for both of them and how they got to this place from the point of view of The Voice was fantastic and heartbreaking. AND, I didn't even mention the title, which is a song by a band that Blake Shelton's next wife was in--as in, not Miranda, not the one that Jim PROMISED would stay together--is just another knife in the heart, MrsK!!!
Pam can't make eye contact with their old pictures of being happy and in love? Jim can't even, you know, because it reminds him of the last time he hasn't touched Pam?? Just rip our hearts out. Just put us back in that terrible, Greg Daniels-created season 9 torture, why don't you? I can see Jim on that couch agonizing over what to text Pam, too. Yikes. This is FANTASTIC writing from you because this angst is SO palpable! Now I'm off to read chapter 2 (again, because we both know I really read this like, 12 years ago and just never reviewed till now, but anyways...) and pray this is much much better! Thank you and love you, even if you make my heart ache with this!

Oh I'm glad you liked the two location but is it really the same bit as that's what I was going for, so happy to worked well! And the Blake and Miranda thing - another fave of the birthday gal (I didn't know who they were!!)

Whoosh! Glad they got their mojo back and their voice back! It worked so well that they went so quickly from hesitancy to making out, having broken that barrier down and it all comes rushing out (thats what she said). Stellar work old boy.

Firstly, excellent song choice.
The angst was angsting in this one dude but totally goes with the vibe of their struggle during that time. Especially that last paragraph where Jim thinks about how they use to be able to communicate without even words and now they just have no words to share. Do love that The Voice is their show though!

There they are. The Jim and Pam we know and love. Maybe a bit hesitant to start, but once things finally are out and open, there's no keeping the from each other. As far apart as they had been is now how close they've reconnected. In all the ways. Wonderful to see them like this. They they're back to realizing what's truly important and not letting anything stand in their way again. Great job!

Oof, right there in the depths of their S9 angst. In a lot of ways this is worse than anything they faced in S1-S3. Here they're supposed to be together, yet in just about every significant way, they're apart right now. Physically, emotionally they're just not them. Mentally they may be on the same page, but it's not a great page to be on. You did a great job showing how far they had fallen from where they had been. It all really pulls on the heart strings, especially with the song choices too. Great job in pulling that out.
