Thanks for sharing this with us! I like the idea, and the way you clearly indicated what you took from Canon is cool. Welcome to the site!

Welcome to MTT! Nice to have a new author around!
This was a fun take on getting these two together that I’ve not seen before, and I think it worked really well!
Love that Dwight could kill Roy with a potato. That really made me laugh
Looking forward to more fics!
Author's Response: Thanks! Considering Dwight?s vast weapons collection in the office, I thought it was actually one of the tamer options. The Negotiation could have been a lot worse in terms of Roy?s injuries. As for my other ideas, I?ll see what I can do.

Welcome to MTT! Enjoyed your story very much and look forward to additional stories from you. If only your story was how the show went a full season of heartache could have been avoided, but the season gave lots of story ideas ... so :)
Thanks again for posting your story!
Author's Response: Thanks! Season 3 is a gold mine for this type of story for better or worse. Some of my other ideas are for alternate series of events from that season, so I might write them in the future.

First of all, welcome to writing on MTT. Always fun to get a new author on the site. That's a big thing the doc crew did. If it ever came out that they were behind it like that I'm sure they'd be in a world of controversy. As it is, it was only Dunder Mifflin that was thrown into chaos.
Very much felt like a deer in the headlights kind of moment for both Jim and Pam when watching those clips. Something they'd been trying to hide now suddenly exposed to the light. Not bad reactions from everyone either. Karen realizing she's not right for Jim or Scranton makes sense. It was still fairly early in her relationship with Jim so a bit easier to break off than had it continued. Pam more panic slapping Michael than anything rings fairly true as well. I also liked that the first place Jim looked was where he found Pam. Showed that they do have a good connection like that.
I can see why Jim would snap at Angela like this. Especially after this day. It feels a little off for me though. Granted Jim is probably kind of frazzled but I figure he would have rather done something like how he handled Ryan by publicly putting Ryan in the storage closest rather than snap. But again it's been a day for Jim and in the end it's just my personal preference on that.
I'm not sure if Roy would have charged in like that. Roy had been trying, kind of successfully too, to show Pam he'd changed. Yes Roy can be a bit of a meathead so I get that though. But he did retreat after the warning shot, so maybe he is thinking.
All in all a fun story here. Jim and Pam get together a lot sooner. There's some much needed truth telling and a lot more and quicker growth than the slow burn we got in canon.
I will say this though, at least here on MTT most everyone knows what episodes you'd be referencing so don't feel like you have to cite every time you use dialogue from the show. Welcome to MTT. Glad to have you.
Author's Response:
Thank you for the welcome to MTT! And for the review!
I agree that it would be controversial if the crew got caught--that’s why they framed Michael. My thinking is that they started filming a day after that accountant, Tom I think his name was, committed suicide. Maybe the documentary’s original purpose was about that, so why would they still be there years later? Hence their funding getting pulled, and then they wanted to bring events to a suitable conclusion in case they did have to stop filming or make the documentary more interesting, so that the powers that be would give them more funding.
I was debating the Jim/Angela scene myself-- I was worried that he might come off a little OOC there. I remember seeing Pam telling Jim that he never really gets angry in a later season, and I just took it as a challenge to see if I could get Jim to snap. Maybe, in retrospect, I could have had that confrontation after the Roy incident.
Speaking of, my thinking of the Roy issue was that the office rumor mill had been going full blast since the clips were shown, and Roy had heard a version of what happened (worse than what actually occurred). Despite his efforts to change, he charged upstairs thinking that Pam had been been having a full-blown affair and wasn’t thinking rationally. In my opinion, they’d long since crossed from best-friendship to an emotional affair without realizing it, even though Jim was already in love with her, but I don’t think Roy, at least at this stage, was emotionally intelligent enough to grasp the nuances in that or his and Pam own failings as a couple that were involved in allowing it to happen.
The reason I was citing episodes was that I posted this story to three sites, and readers there might not be so informed as MTT readers. But, in the future, I can edit stories for this site differently. Most of my ideas are in another fandom with some of the same actors involved in both it (That ‘70s Show) and The Office. That being said, I do have over 10 more ideas for The Office, and I’m certainly open to exploring those in the future.
