Yes! Karen seems like someone who has really gone after what she wants in life, from her career to her bald admissions of being into Jim, while Jim seems someone more prone to being reactive, even in a lot of ways passive (even his transfer to Stamford was reacting to the imminent marriage of Pam and Roy, and he and Pam's slowly crumbling friendship). Would being with Karen force him to become more active within his own life, or would he just be reacting once again, this time to a strong and assertive woman?
Either way, I'm looking forward to seeing it explored on the show.

This is such a sad and contemplative story. I feel like you've set Karen up like someone that is so much more than Jim has ever been. Something he feels like he wants to attain to be, but at the same time, can't. I don't know. This story fascinated me; I could definitely see this happening. On one hand, I want it for him - I want him to be happy with Karen, but on the other hand, is it really him, or is it someone he's pretending to be? Many questions...

Author's Response: Thanks! I too like Jim/Karen fic, and something about their relationship seems to throw into highlight a lot of things about Jim (and to a degree, Pam) that we didn't get to see in Season 2.

In the words of Michael Scott: Shuuuut it.
That was insanely good and beautiful. I've grown to love Jim/Karen fic and this one was particularly excellent.
