this was so heartwarming!! i was reading this and run by taylor swift started playing and it was the perfect timing! no but fr i loved the whole story, and you REALLY took me by surprise because when i read the description i assumed dwight was gonna be the one who read jim's letter (not sure how that would've worked but it seemed logical) but ROY was the one who read it? you had me hooked AND shocked!!! i also really liked how you wrote jim and pam's thoughts and how this whole story turned out!! you're an incredible narrator

also, i'm SO glad this fic is recent because most of the time here i feel very nostalgic seeing the dates of most of these stories; it's nice seeing that people are still here!!!

Author's Response: I'm always glad when people find my stories and enjoy them so much. It can be a challenge to find a new angle to take such well known characters so I'm thrilled you liked how I wove this tale. I very much appreciate how you pointed out what you specifically liked about this story. Thank you for the great comments.

This was a very nice Christmas fic. I like Hunter and how she voices some of Pam's inner thoughts.
Kudos!

Author's Response: It was fun to bring in a new perspective for sure. Glad you like it all. Thank you!

Nice to get a last chapter for this one. I can picture and hear the oral diary entries - nice way to have them express some feelings to each other under the guise of play. Got some strong butterfly on my shoulder vibes in the closing scene of that paragraph.

Now the Roy's sister angle is not one I've seen done, but would make sense (like how she's slightly estranged from her selfish family) and like how you wrote it.

And here's where the one room/one bed plot pays off - nice way to end this one (while having her have some space and time in the relationship at large).

Author's Response: Jim and Pam almost always have fun together. So the fake journal entries seemed a great way to explore that. Glad you liked them. I've toyed with bringing in the idea that Roy's sister doesn't approve of Roy in the past. I'm glad it landed well with you. Same with the ending of this one. After a decent amount of soul searching, why not just reach out for what you really want? Life's short, eat dessert first. Wonderful to hear from you as always.

Glad they got their Happy Christmas ending! And well done on getting all your words in! A belated Merry Christmas to you :)

Author's Response:

It wouldn't be a good Christmas story without a happy ending. Glad you liked it.

Reading about Roy’s history with his family certainly explains his behavior in his relationship with Pam,
and his shock over the fact that she actually dumped him. His ego is in shock. I like his sister and can understand why she distanced herself from that toxic family. I think it’s smart for Pam to want to take her relationship with Jim slow even though she confessed her feelings to him. I think she does need some time on her own before she moves in with another guy. Please update soon because I’m curious about what is going to happen when they go back to Scranton and Pam goes over to Roy’s with Hunter.

Author's Response: As always I appreciate your detailed comments. Lots of growth for Pam here that's for sure. I also wanted to add in some hope that though Roy is a bit of an oaf, with a bit of straight talk from his sister, he can turn things around. Also we have come to the end of this story. I'll leave it up to your imagination as to how things unfold from here. For now though we can leave Jim and Pam to enjoy their last night in the cabin. Thanks for the review.

Looks like they have had a super cute day up in the North Pole (New York)! Love it. Look forward to seeing what goes down in the cabin with their kinda new relationship situation.

Author's Response: Thank you! Having a cute fun day was entirely the point. I'm still working out the details, but it should be a lot of fun going on from here.

The two of them being alone in a cabin together sounds very intriguing. I can’t help but wonder
about Roy’s reaction to seeing Pam’s note and ring
she left behind. Will we by chance get a glimpse into
how Roy takes it? 🙏
Please update soon.

Author's Response: I did include a line that said Pam had to wade her way through more angry voicemails from Roy before she called her family, so we'll say Roy initially took it badly. Them being alone in the cabin should be a lot of fun. Glad to hear from you.

What a fun trip to Santa's Village. Never been nor did I even know about it but it sounds like a fun place for kids and for kids at heart (and Jim is a pretty big one of these - strange however how he doesn't like to dress in costumes).

But first - the inner thoughts on the way were well done. Having them share the driving was a smart way to fit that in - plus gotta think that while Roy would want to drive the whole way to anywhere they went -he would make Pam stay up with him - right?

Always enjoy a good prank and the gnome traveling with a kidnapped bobblehead is a good one. Also enjoyed the real versus artificial tree debate.

So there won't be a casino night confession now so I appreciated how you used the lines here instead.

To end with a blizzard and a one room situation - the next chapter should be quite interesting.

Author's Response: Santa's Village is kind of a small place so no worries if you've never heard of it. It's in the Lake Placid/Whiteface Mt. area if that helps at all. Considering Pam is the one taking him there, I figure Jim's ready and willing to follow her. Especially after her reveal in the car. I'm sure Roy would want to drive since to his mind, no one else would know how to drive or some other thing. Roy might let Pam sleep. After all if Pam is awake she'd want to talk to him, and it seems that's not really something Roy is very interested in, listening to Pam. Good thing Jim is cut from a very different cloth.

Loved adding the bits of fun like the gnome and tree debate while they're exploring the village. JAM banter can be tricky so I'm glad you liked it. Same with repurposing canon lines. The fun thing about AU is you can use the same lines, but twist them to mean different things. Always fun to do that.

Glad you're looking forward to the next chapter. So am I. Thanks as ever for the review.

Very cute chapter, I’d love to go to Santa’s Workshop myself!
Really liked getting to delve into how both Jim and Pam are feeling. And loved you fixed it so Jim took a step backwards and realised Pam needed to take things slow and not to rush her.
Looking forward to the next chapter!!

Author's Response: I remember Santa's Village being a lot of fun for sure. Considering Jim almost got his head caved in, I think it would make him reflect a bit. But this is also before the heartache of S3 so he's a lot more generous to her. Glad you liked it.

Ah, one of my absolute favourite tropes: "there's only one room left in the whole resort/area/island and you two very attractive people with copious amounts of unresolved sexual tension toward each other need to share..." Bring it on please! :D

Author's Response: Regardless of how often it's been done, it's always fun for sure. Glad you liked it.

OMG this is so, so satisfying to read, Warrior. Looking forward to part two!

Author's Response: Thank you! It was very satisfying to write some of those scenes too. Next chapter will hopefully be up soon.

I laughed out loud TWICE reading this! First, when Packer got punched and second, when Kenny got thrown in jail too! Also, I was horrified when Roy read the card!
This story is DELIGHTFUL! Can't wait for the next chapter! Thanks for brightening my evening, Warrior!

Author's Response: Clover! Wonderful to hear from you again! I'm so glad you enjoyed those parts. I had a lot of fun writing them. Sorry to scare you with Roy reading the card first. Don't worry we'll move on to better times from here. Thanks for commenting.

Enjoyed getting the scene where she exchanges the gifts. Things go downhill fast after that except that maybe they don't as Pam comes to some realizations.

Of course Roy sees the iPod as theirs. If he sees Pam as his property then it follows that all that she has is his too.

She's being swallowed in her life with Roy - evidenced by the lack of signs of her in the apartment.

That in comparing two very different men, it's easy to see which one truly cares about her and he's not the one she is with...or was with. Glad she's escaping that.

(got a kick out of Kenny winding up in jail too, ha ha)

Looking forward to what's in store at Santa's workshop

Author's Response: I think when she got the Teapot and then came to the realization that she needed to trade back for it, Pam was primed to realize which guy was really the best guy in her life. However, in canon before she could really act on those feelings Roy set a date and her real feelings got swept under the rug of wedding planning. So when things don't go like that, yup it all goes downhill quick. Great job picking up on that.

I'll sometimes redeem Roy, but Kenny will forever be an idiot in my writings. Same with Packer who got his well deserved punch in the jaw.

As a one time New Yorker, I have a feeling you'll enjoy what's coming at Santa's. Always love hearing from you.

Ooh I really like this slant on things with Roy seeing the note first, and it totally tracks he’d go in with his fist. Glad Dwight was there to save the day (obviously).
I’m glad Pam deleted all those voice mails and didn’t just run back to Roy. Also the use of ‘I can’t’ on the note was great
Looking forward to see what going on at Santa’s Workshop and for these two to hopefully talk it all out!

Author's Response: Thank you. I don't think I've ever read a fic where Roy reads the note so it was fun to imagine what his reaction would have been. Clearly it was an eye opening moment for Pam in a lot of ways. Don't worry there will be ample time for them to talk things out coming up. Thanks for the review.

I love it!!!! What a creative way of telling their child their story!!! So beautiful.

Author's Response: Thanks, Jim and Pam have always been able to have fun around the office. Makes sense it would translate to at home too.

This was so wonderful! How enjoyable to read it from Jim’s side. Not sure how I missed reading this chapter, since I know I read Pam’s.
The terrific little back and forth allowing Jim to have an apology with Karen was perfect, and the nod to when she got engaged was great too.
I felt the same Jim energy from Office Olympics here, rallying people over time to join in the activity he was demonstrating. Helping the staff, shoveling things out, being kind and courteous. So wonderful.

Author's Response: It was a challenge to write Jim's side for sure. Thanks for picking up on those details. Always fun to include them. I agree, when Jim really sets his mind to something, usually the people around him get caught up in it too. Thanks for the review.

I had read this before I knew the wonderfulness of the Jaime & Morgan series! It made this SO much sweeter and interesting to read, knowing the whole family already had such a rich backstory & connections.

Author's Response: Thanks for coming back to it. Always a lot of fun to add depth to the Jamie/Morgan world.

I'm not a big fan of Jim and Pam's stories as parents, but I have to admit that I liked this one. After all, we have all told stories to our children, setting ourselves up as princes and princesses.

Author's Response: Glad you took a chance with this one. It was fun to create a new spin off tale for Jim to tell Cece. Thank you.

Maybe Jim should have left the weather broadcast on. Oh Michael and his lyrics.
Yep. It’s probably actually Pam managing behind the scenes haha.
I like that David actually wanted Micheal’s ad but was overruled. Make sense. His ad was actually good and creative. Of course it was Ryan.
Aww Jim is so proud of his girlfriend.
Speaking of girlfriends, err well, EX-girlfriends, here’s Karen. A little awkward Good thing they apologized.
Jim is so kind for giving up the last hotel room to the family with young children.
Where is Michael’s phone? I hope that guy didn't steal it and attends to give it back eventually.
Jim did good too!
Yay, they are going home!
Jam are finally reunited.
Jim always thinks she’s beautiful.
So sweet! Love it.

Author's Response: Thank you. It was fun to write this other side of the story and all the adventures Jim and Michael got into. Thanks for the review, glad you liked it.

This was so sweet!!!! Enjoy a spot of kindness and fluff!!

Author's Response: Thank you! It was fun to try and write a story that still had conflict but no angst. Glad you liked it. Feel free to check out the companion story to this one. "You Can Count on Me." Same event, just Jim's side of it.

First off- I as a mom also have one of those magic bags that always has everything you could possibly need in them...I only hope Helene replaces the fruit bar so it's there for Michael at the wedding....or on second thought....

Anyway, this wrapped up with everything I could want...Roy getting his comeuppance and out of their lives. Jim realizing he still loves Pam, ending things with Karen. Classic Jim/Pam banter even while she lies unconscious (I smile at the thanks for standing me up) Jim welcomed into the Beesly family. Emotional confessions and some making up for lost time with the decorating of the tree.

And I must mention the ceramic tree. I enjoyed how you framed that and how the light guided him to what he needed to do.

Lovely holiday fic, but what else would I expect from you.

Wishing you a very happy 2023!

Author's Response:

I can always count on you to find some little detail I put in there like Helene's bag of everything. Always fun when someone picks out details like that. Thanks.

In hard times we're tested and focus on what's really important. Both Jim and Pam came through that and the results are what we see.

Sometimes in our darkest times, we just need one spark, one hint of light to find our way back. Glad you picked up on that with the tree.

Happy 2023 to you too!

Wow. That took a turn that I wasn’t expecting. It’s really interesting to get an insight into what you and your colleagues do though (hopefully only ever third hand!)

Author's Response: Thanks. Not quite as detailed as other times I've brought EMS into my writings, but it worked well. The job makes for interesting shifts that's for sure.
