A friend just recommended this to me, kasuchi, and I'm so glad.  I have a soft spot for first-date fics.  I think you did really well capturing the nervousness of a first date, especially one so important.  Nice job!

There's a big, checkered picnic blanket set out already, with a little reserved plaque in the center. Such a sweet detail.

He finally looks at her, and the sincerity in his eyes makes her shiver despite how warm it is.  Yeah, me too :)

Later, they'll tell each other everything, a year's worth of stories and secrets and silly things and important things and pranks and plots and plans, but for now the moment is vast. I think that's what I most like to imagine about the early stages of their relationship--all the catching up.

This is one of the best first date fics I have ever read. The details are beautiful, intimate, and so well written that I could see it in my mind. The quietness of the date, of their conversations, of all the moments between them just flowed. Great atmosphere! My favorite thing about this fic is how natural Jim and Pam are with one another.

Also, your writing is like poetry. I've read quite a few of your stories and I think that you have such a wonderful way with words. Thank you for sharing.

"There's a large man-made pond with a fountain, and the dark sky makes the water look like rolling velvet."  What a beautiful description.  I loved that they fell asleep watching the movie. Very sweet.

Author's Response:

I'd already used my quota of dark water descriptions in Laufen, so I was kind of hard-pressed to find another. *laughs* My bedspread is actually made of crushed velvet; it was a gift from my grandmother, and when I shake it out to make my bed, the light catches it just like it would over the ripples in dark water. Lakes and ponds at night are nothing short of gorgeous, IMHO.

Thank you very much!

Absolutely wonderful.  I loved them falling asleep on the couch.   Nice little touch.  And the grilled cheese...perfect first real date meal for them.  One of my favorite FDFs.

Author's Response: That is quite the complement; thank you so, so, so much.

This is simply great.... every part of it, with the descriptions and thoughts and everything.

Author's Response: It's not lame - every review is meaningful. Thank you so much for taking the time to do so!

Ah, a perfect date fic, and since I adore Pride and Prejudice, I was all excited when she asked him in to watch it. Because getting a man to see that movie is some feat. lol I love that they fell asleep together, and the morning after. It definitely all gave me warm fuzzies. ;)

Author's Response:

I, personally, believe every man should watch it. The guys in my English class were forced to watch it, and by the end they were more into it than us girls.

Aw. :D Thank you!

Nice date!  I like that she used the movie as a good excuse to have him come in, and that they fell asleep on the couch.  Sweet.

The sudden man/mountain line in the movie and the reaction was really funny.

Author's Response:

Thank you! I wanted to write the the most innocent first date I possibly could, and...Well, here we are.

It was TOTALLY my reaction the first time I watched the film. I was like, "What the hell?'

Again, thank you.
