YOU

ARE

KILLING

ME

and that is not nice. *pouts*

I mean....the poor boy is getting his heart crushed to smithereens.

I'm trusting you to make it better. Just be quick about it. ;)

Author's Response:

Great, way to make me feel guilty -- your fic left me with this perma-grin, then I repay you by being mean.  ;oD  Is it wrong that I love crushing his heart to smithereens?  Seriously, something must be wrong with me.  Heh.  I will make it better eventually; you have my word.  If I do not, you can send Creed and Dwight after me.  ;o)

Wow. I think I held my breath through that entire chapter. That was incredible. When he said, "I'm sorry" right before kissing her, I think I lost my mind. This was intense and brutal in absolutely the best way.

Author's Response:

Really?  That's so exciting to hear!  Seriously, it's an odd thing to work on a chapter like this one -- this was the hardest to write but was the most fun to write.  Add to that the reviews and feedback I got from the last chapter and...yes, I was one nervous girl before posting this one, because I was worried the angst and intensity would piss people off, LOL.  But really - it's great to hear that you enjoyed it!

Beautifully written!

You absolutely broke my heart into a million tiny pieces with this one! The way you write it is so real...gah. You're a little evil with all the angst, but I love evil sometimes! ;-)

Author's Response:

Thanks so much!  Yes, I'm totally evil with the angst at times; I readily admit that (should get a tee-shirt that says ANGST WHORE on it or something, LOL).  So glad you enjoyed this in spite of the angst!

THanks so much for reviewing!

Oh, holy crap, girl7.  You have created a whole new level of angst and heartbreak.  I cannot even think straight.  Ow.

Author's Response:

Sorry....?  Heh.  Seriously, though, it's good to hear that it affected you -- because damn it, it was difficult to write at times.  :o)

God, this absolutely destroyed me...but in a good way. Don't get me wrong, I don't begrudge Jim and Pam their happiness, but this is where I like reading about them best...all angsty and tortured. This is just amazing. Thank you. Thank you. Can't wait for more.

Sorry for the excessive gushing : )

Author's Response:

It really, really is good to hear you say that -- I love the torture and angst, too, so much so that I worry I heap it on too much at times.  :o) So it's always good (and a relief!) to hear someone say she's enjoying it as much as I enjoy writing it.  :o)

God, I think my heart broke right along with Jim's. Poor sexy heartbroken Jim...I'm sure you'll make this right. You'll make it right, right?

Author's Response:

Sexy, heartbroken Jim is the prettiest of all the Jims, isn't he?  :O)  And yes, I will find a way to make this right -- ur, in a manner of speaking, heh.

Thanks so much for reviewing so quickly! (It's always beyond unnerving to post a new chapter and hear the crickets, you know?  Hee.)

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhgh!  You kill me!  KILL ME.  Oh, Jim. Oh, Pam.  Please tell me they end up together.  Pleasepleaseplease.

Author's Response:

Yikes! :o) Okay, here's the deal [/Michael]: I'm planning on carrying out the arc I originally intended for this, but I will also write a spin-off or something like it that goes in a different direction.  So, in other words: Stick with me; I'll make it better (I hope! LOL).

Once. Holy shit. Ouch. You really DO like to inflict pain on Jim, don't you?! I take back what I said about Pam being an intentional cockteaser. She honestly doesn't know what she's doing. I know that it's not technically canon, but if she really did have her first kiss with Roy, as well as her first everything else, then...that explains a LOT. I really believed that most dangerous game they were playing in the pool room with the basket. It reminded me of some of my own high school experiences.

Author's Response:

I do...it's awful, but I do.  :o)  Yeah, I do think that while Pam has a general idea that he's got feelings for her and is attracted to her, she has absolutely no clue as to how deeply they run.  And in this scenario, I think she's had just enough to drink to start to play with fire a little bit, but she'll find that she's in waaaay over her head, and that it is indeed possible to push Jim Halpert too far.

Yikes, that sounded like one of those NBC promo voiceovers, didn't it?  *Cue Lamar's "Stars"*  LOL

Thanks so much for the review!

Finally catching up with this story. Very interesting to read about this time period of the character's lives as it has not been well covered by many other fics. Looking forward to reading the rest.

So glad you're enjoying it -- and yeah, I was a little bummed to be writing before Ryan was hired, but I did want to go back a bit.

Whoa. That was amazing. Seriously. I can't even mention all the things I loved about this chapter because it would take too long, but I will say that this topped your E-mail Surveillance chapters in Away From the Cameras, and I never thought that would happen. And those last few sentences, totally heartbreaking, but also totally awesome. I love your angst because for one thing its always so good, but also I can wallow in it as much as I like because I can tell that everything will be okay in the end.

Anyway, keep up the great work. I'll just be over here in the corner chanting "Kiss! Kiss! Kiss! Kiss!" :)

Author's Response:

Okay, first of all, of all the stuff I've written, the thing that I'm most attached to is the "Email Surveillance II" chapter -- so thanks for that.  :o)  And, uh, you just keep chanting that, sister.... Hee.

Well, I printed this out today at work and have reread this chapter several times. Much love.

Of course Jim would ask her if she's okay right after her very sexy dream had him asking her the exact same thing.  Ha, awesome.  No wonder she freaked.

And, aww, Shaun is trying to help out Jim, sweet.

Sharing the truffles, too cute.

And then, it gets serious.  Wow.  Pam really gets pushy under the influence, hmm?  What's up with that?  It's like she wants to make him lose it, control wise.  And Jim fears this, because even though he knows she feels it too, acting on his feelings would cause her to run the other way, as we all saw on CN.

Jim should just jump her now, but of course, being the epitome of a gentleman, he won't.  Grrr...

Can't wait for more of this!

Author's Response:

Oh, I'm glad you caught that the "Are you okay?" was meant as a call back to the dream; I was worried that since the dream was in another chapter, the readers might've forgotten it and wondered why she'd be freaked out at him asking her that.  So yay!

And you also said: "It's like she wants to make him lose it, control wise."  You damn near quoted a line from the next chapter verbatim -- seriously.  :o) Freaky!

Thanks so much for that thoughtful review, and I'm so glad you're enjoying this!

Ok, it begs to be said.  Nice basket.  Sorry for quoting Karen at a time like this, but you were asking for it.

And a super-smutty AU that veers off the tracks of canon anytime now would be eight different kinds of dawesome.  And I am not reading HP, so I will be happy to review every freaking chapter.  I'm not going anywhere, really.

Author's Response:

Hahahahaah!  That actually did cross my mind as well.  A super-smutty AU fic that veers off canon, you say?  Hm.  Well, you do deliver the awesome calendars and the generous reviews so I guess I'll have to see what I can do.  Heh heh heh....

I can't add much to all the heaps of praise. I don't think I've ever eagerly awaited updates of a story quite so much, even though I know it's going to just make my heart ache for these two crazy kids.

You really capture how you both want to throttle and hug Old Pam. You can see to some extent why she's hesitant to make this huge change in her life, as Roy is all she's known. I actually think her limited relationship experience makes her not see how special the connection she and Jim have is. She knows it's better than Roy, but I think doesn't really grasp that meeting someone like Jim who you get along with so well and are attracted to isn't so commonplace and not just a temptation to her set plan.

Anyhow, I ramble. Wonderful, story!

Author's Response:

You know, this was one of those reviews that really shed light on the story for me, if that makes any sense at all; in other words, you articulated so perfectly what I'm trying to convey -- so thank you for that.  :o)  Seriously, though, I'm really glad you say those things, because it's hard sometimes to remember why in the hell Pam wouldn't just drop Roy and run off with Jim -- but it's so much more complicated than that....

Thank so much for that thoughtful review!

AHHHHH. I'm dying right here! This story is so so good- and it's full of just the right amount of tension, awe, anticipation, fear....my god, stories like these make me feel like I'm sitting right next to Jim and Pam, completely invested in their (fictional!) future. And each chapter keeps getting more amazingly tension-filled, I can't imagine any more happening between Jim and Pam without them getting together, and yet you keep delivering! :) But please, will you create a happy ending soon? I think I will cry if Pam kisses Jim and then regrets her actions and falls back to Roy. How soon can a year-long revelation happen here?

Author's Response: Really?  It's great to hear that, because I never know if I'm laying it on too thick or drawing out the tension too much.  And all I will say is that in the next chapter, you might get some relief.  A little.  LOL.  Thanks so much for revieiwng!

Maybe if all fics were terrible and didn't make me want more, I'd be happier. Without the exquisite torture of knowing that what ever you have up your sleeve will be awesome, I would be a much more agreeable person.

God, poor Jim...it just never stops, the wanting to scream at Pam and tell her to get a move on.  I wish just once that Pam was a bad girl.

Author's Response:

I know.  Seriously, if we fanfic writers could be prosecuted for doing mean things to the characters, I'd be doing a life sentence for what I do to poor Jim, ha.  But JK plays angst/desire so well that I just can't help myself.

And I am so with you on the Pam as a bad girl thing....
