when i first read this, i was so very confused. i'm thinking, oh they're going on a road trip! and then i scan the rest of it and i'm like, "wait. what?" and THEN i read your little chapter note at the top. i am SO smart. :P

anyway, as always, this is beautiful. sad, but beautiful. my favorite line is the last one, "but he knew what we was leaving behind."

Author's Response: I kind of hated to bring the angst in the midst of all the fluff, but Jim's state of mind when he was leaving has always fascinated me.  It must have been so hard for him to leave, but even harder to stay.  What an awful time.  Wait...these are fictional characters, right?  RIGHT?  Thank you for commenting on this chapter in particular, because it didn't get a lot of love, and I know why, but I'm kind of fond of it, myself.

Again... "Oh, Jim."
This was painful to read and so perfectly described post-Casino night Jim. Poor thing :(

Author's Response: Funny, this one was one of the easier ones to write for me.  I'm a little too well-acquainted with how he must have been feeling.   A little easier to take now that we know how it all turns out, though, eh?

"He had no idea what he was driving toward, but he knew what he was leaving behind."  What a beautiful line.

Author's Response:

This is one of the big story gaps that I wish we could have seen a little of - Jim leaving Scranton.  I hated to stop the fluff train for an angst pit stop, but that song is full of angst, so.  kaystar, thank you for the reviews.

Ugh...I think I need to go back and read the other ones now! lol

Author's Response: Yeah, I know, I know!  I really appreciate the reviews, LoveFool.
