i just wanted to stop for a minute and tell you how great this chapter was. i think it was a definite sign that although jim and pam can act like little kids, they know how to be serious. and as pam put it 'act like adults' - a key to success if they want to start a relationship.

and then when pam said that jim was right, and that she was a doormat, and something about roy not being the best thing for her, i was on the edge of my seat! i can't wait to see how this plays out.

great job, this story is truly amazing, and i've had a lot of fun reading it... so far! i still have a bit of a ways to go, and i'm so glad that you are showing us a full 24 hours with them!

I really enjoy this story. I think it is brilliant to put them together for 24 hours straight. There isn't that time for them to regroup and put their feelings in check. I can't wait to see what happens as the day unfolds.

Oh, man I don't think I can wait that long for another update. This is a great chapter...keeps me hanging on, waiting...wanting more! It's so typical for them to act the way you wrote them. I'm hoping Jim finds the catalyst he needs soon to give him a shove towards confession. Or, maybe it's Pam who needs to confess....? Whoever it is, I hope they do it soon. This is agony (but in a good way). ;)

Actually, I think Letterman lives in Wilton, CT.  Dangit!  I want to smack them both!  Guacamole is good, but it's not the same as owning up to your real feelings!!

I was so glad to see this update.  You sure left us with quite the cliffhanger.  So, neither one is ready to say anything yet.  You have S2 Jim & Pam down perfectly in this.  At least there are only seven hours left, so something has to give before too long.  Whenever you can post again, I'll be ready to read.

SOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD!

Welcome back, One Day. I have missed you so.

This is really solid, GMMBBG. I love the little changes you made, and the emotions really come full circle in this installment. I simply adore the fact that he can see she's disappointed, but still he just can't quite do it (TWSS). I also can't wait to see what happens at David Letterman's place. Will they see Paul Schaffer? Will they do a "Man on the Street" interview? Or will they have sex on Dave's lawn? All of these options are fine with me.

"Outside our little booth, the unspoken truth glares at us, desperate and itching to makes its way through the safe, laugh-filled bubble we’ve created for ourselves. But we don’t let it. We eat our Tex Mex burger and tuna melt (a first for me, I’m not sure I like it), talk about reality TV, and evaluate whatever stupid thing Michael did the other day. It’s how we exist; whether inside the office or at a diner in Stamford, Connecticut, this is us. And I’m starting to realize that will never, ever change"

What an incredibly beautiful and true statement. That was such an excellent description of the dance they do. I say YES for sure and it's been making me what to eat a giant candy heart for a while now.

I was just thinking about this story last night and wondered if I had missed an update so I tried to find it and I couldn't remember the name (I kept thinking "24") and I couldn't remember who wrote it (no offense) but I knew it was one of my top 10 favorite authors and since the list is in alphabetical order it took me a while to get to the "W"'s (although I was able to skip past Cousin Mose as I knew he didn't write it and Nomadshan since she's into the super angsty stuff now) so I eventually found it and was happy to see that I hadn't missed anything but sad that it hadn't been updated in a while. Then shazam, here's an update!

Pam and I make mild, meaningless conversation; the kind you make right after a huge fight when nothing’s been really resolved but you decide to go on with your lives anyway. Outside our little booth, the unspoken truth glares at us, desperate and itching to makes its way through the safe, laugh-filled bubble we’ve created for ourselves. And I’m starting to realize that will never, ever change.

Holy... guh...

WOW.

So, it's not enough for you to come back and give me an update; you have to wallop me across the brain box with something as brilliant as that paragraph right there? :)

Whew... *Mose takes a moment to collect his thoughts, which are currently lying scattered about the room in a general state of higgely-piggeldy*

Nope. Can't do it. I can't form a coherent thought just yet. But know this, my dear Swiff: Out of the park, do you hear? You knocked this chapter out. of. the. park.

Also-- WOO HOO! For stalking Letterman! :)

Just FYI, Letterman lives in NY now. Westchester County. He runs on my high school track every morning.
