Jim's trip down Pam Memory Lane at the office is so well done... but I have to admit I laughed really hard at "This present is special because it has bonus torture." I also really liked the moment where he was both on the phone with Jan but checking his flight options again just in case - that's a really great moment in showing just how desperate to leave he is.

Author's Response: Thank you! I'm glad there was some laughter to leaven the angst, because I think that's a crucial element in this series. It can't all be sorrow even if it is mostly going to be for a while.

Ah, I do love/hate the thoughts of that weekend after Casino Night. Great details you added in to make this feel like canon (DM starting early for international calls; each little "spot" that holds a memory).
Really great chapter.

Author's Response: Thank you! Writing Jim is kind of instinctive for me for various reasons, so I'm ecstatic to hear my instincts line up with what feels like canon for you :D.

Ouch! My heart! You are evil, you know? An amazing writer, though.

Author's Response: Thank you! For both, actually, since I have to admit that at this point in the narrative "being evil" really just means "sticking to the storyline." Such a sad part of the series...

Aww Jim. Yeah, that would be a weekend from Hell. Hoping she'd call or do anything. His last walk through the office triggering so many memories that now are just driving further spikes into his heart. Gotta feel for the guy at this point.

Author's Response: Definitely feel for the guy! Though hey, just a thought, maybe wait more than 72 hours before you leave? Just a thought. Thanks for the review!
