How profound for young Jim to do the right thing! His mom should be VERY proud! Clearly she’s bringing home such great lessons from her work in psych which are translating to teaching her son compassion. I’m so glad Pam has found a friend who accepts her, words or no words, but also realizes that she has something to say— and that if you’re patient enough, you can even communicate with her without words. The yellow sun at the end symbolizes to me that sunnier days are coming for our Pam— thanks to our Jim. Love it!!!!

I'm loving all the little references you are slipping in..the white sneakers, the basketball and mostly their ability to talk non-verbally. And I love how Jim is a kind soul even if he is a bit of a prankster - or at least to her he is patient and kind.

So what I liked about this one is that Jim doesn't see Pam how the rest of her classmates see her. Especially Roy. While Roy may be willing to admit Jim is a fairly decent dude, here and in early canon, Jim also sees how Roy and by extension everyone else treats Pam and wants nothing to do with it.

Jim telling Pam he thinks it's cool she talks without words is probably going to do well for her. I imagine that for so long she's felt so isolated because she hasn't been talking. So here is someone telling her that not only is she really talking to him, but it's also fine she doesn't say anything back. I imagine that would take a lot of pressure off of her. No wonder she clocks in an authentic vibrant yellow sun coming out from the clouds.
