Whoa! That kind of made me breathless (in a good way). I read it in a hurry because that's how it felt. Like he was in a hurry to get over her. Stellar writing, as usual.

OMG, and I thought you'd have the two couples switched but still boy-girl. So hilarious! I was laughing the whole way through. "I am not your monkey!"
Great job!
Author's Response:
Thank you s_t_r! (great screename btw) This was written as a challenge to write something somewhat slashy. It's slash in the vaguest of terms but I still think it works on some level. Thanks so much for reading. You are spoiling me with the reviews today!!!

Wow! I never knew I could be so interested in a story that did not involve JAM.
I am convinced that Jan's story is exactly how you've written it. The way you've imagined the details of her past is amazing! The metaphor of shirt treatment (ripping vs. not), garnet walls, Michael being the one to stop their makeout session, the pinot grigio...surely these are in scenes that just never got filmed!
Awesome, as usual!
Author's Response:
I'm way late in responding to you (if you're following the discussion in the FanFic thread, you'll know why I'm going back even though it's been several months and doing so!). I'm really glad you enjoyed the story; I mentioned in a previous review that I really did like Jan's character a lot before they wrote her little (or rather, her HUGE) breakdown. And I've always had a ginormous soft spot for Michael, so I wanted to write a fic that explored just how they could've ended up together as more of a serious piece (as opposed to for the funny).
So sorry it took me this long to respond, but I really appreciate your review~!

If only they'd made it that easy on us. This line is genius, I think:
He’s being torn in half, because he hurts but he’s happy and maybe he’s happy because he hurts or maybe he hurts because he’s happy.
Kind of like Jim's face every time he has some "experience" with Pam. Conflicted, confused, running the gamut of emotions.
So good...

I just love the line "She rethinks her position on psyches." This chapter is awesome. You have a real talent for their story and getting inside their heads.
Date: October 20, 2007 Title: Chapter 2: Tempest in a Teapot
Wow! She read the card! I'm interested to see how Jim can forgive her for that. Just as awesome as the 1st chapter.
Date: October 20, 2007 Title: Chapter 3: Almost
This could easily segue into Beach Games and Pam's big confession. Maybe her words would be slightly different but the tone is perfect. I can believe that this happened somewhere in season 3. Like I said before, awesome story!

That was so wonderful...best was that you made the whole day about the two of them. This reminded me of my own wedding day even though I had minor emergencies throughout. The best part, of course, was the time spent with my husband - from waking up together on our wedding day to the quiet moments during the day. You really captured that intimacy quite well.
Date: October 23, 2007 Title: Chapter 1: It's the subtle laugh that will keep ringing.
“I would marry you in liquid hot magma, Pam. This is serious stuff, stop laughing.”
This is my favorite line. I love how you can bring the fun in even in the serious moment.
Wishful thinking for a Jim/Pam fan who's convinced it'll all work out, but is sick of waiting.

You know with all those cameras around it has to be hard to be courageous and honest! I was so excited to see that Pam had sent the emails in her drunken state. Been there, done that!
I'm doing a whirlwind tour of your library while I wait for the next chapter of Nearing the Edge!
Author's Response:
Heh - I suspect you're going to be sorry you left all these great reviews when you find a gajillion months-later responses in your inbox. :o)
I had a lot of fun writing Pam's drunken emails, because I really could imagine her doing something like that -- either drunk dialing him or drunk emailing him. (I'm relieved to say that I didn't start drinking until after I was dating my now husband -- in my later 20's -- so I never did the drunk dialing. But dear god, if I had been a drinker in college, I TOTALLY would have, lol.)
I'm glad you're enjoying my older stuff, and in spite of my hideousness at not responding to your reviews sooner, I really do appreciate your taking the time to review!

Well it does take until autumn before any of them start to find their hearts again. Nice Roy POV - don't think I have ever seen that before. All 3 parts were depressing but the last one made me want to go clean the bathroom this weekend (but not to Mariah). So, that's good. Of course the writing is spectacular as usual.
The aftermath of Cocktails (NOT part of my AU universe).

Uhhh, I dunno if you're back from your European vacation yet, but they should hire you to write for the show. You REALLY have a handle on the characters and did a fantastic job with this story. It felt so realistic all the way through - more believable than some other fanfics I've read. You do an amazing job with the dialogue and I love how you intersperse serious conversation with JAM banter. So real.
One quick thing. In the "had" vs. "has" conversation between JAM - I think she should say that what she meant to say was "have" as in "I have feelings for Jim."
Otherwise, FANTASTIC!

Now that is just cold...after all the JAM love to see Jim leave Pam for Karen. So, I didn't really like that party of the story ;) I did like the way you started the story in particular - how it "happened" to Pam at different times. Nice!

Thank god this is not a cliffhanger for me since the story is finished. Boy you know how to rachet up the tension, huh?
Date: April 19, 2008 Title: Chapter 9: and I'd dig my way home
OK now I am really nervous about how this is going to go over with Jim! Of course I know how he dealt with Pam's confession in Beach Games but she didn't talk quite as candidly there!
Love how you worked in Marsha's family story, however sad it is. Hope that you keep that updated through the rest of the story.
Great job!
Date: April 19, 2008 Title: Chapter 12: unless of course I was already there
Yay, yay, yay!
Jim and Karen, over. Check.
Jim coming up with a plan to draw Pam back in. Check.
Pam starting to think that maybe Jim does have an interest in her. Check.
Yep, all the elements of a good JAM story!
Date: April 19, 2008 Title: Chapter 13: the greedy men who ruled the world
The plan involves a series of instructions. Of course! This is great! (Sorry I can't think of a better word to describe your story than great - lol - I am NOT a writer!)
Date: April 19, 2008 Title: Chapter 14: it knocks me off my feet

Date: April 19, 2008 Title: Chapter 17: you and me wake up
OK, now I'm wishing for some romance in my own life. AU fiction has crossed over into reality, sort of...Obviously this means you are doing a good job, Azlin!

Freaking hilarious!!!! I am sorry I didn't get to read that the first time. LMAO, for sure!!

I know just the feeling of finding things that I just *must* read when cleaning. That's why it always takes so long. I'm impressed that you stuck with this story for so long. And I'm really glad that I found it after you'd finished! :P
Date: April 19, 2008 Title: Chapter 15: to follow the sweat down your spine
Pam, the chase was long and you were hungry...but wasn't it worth it? Gah, if Jim greeted me like that I think I'd faint!
Date: April 19, 2008 Title: Chapter 16: after a deep sleep
I'm glad they got it out, no matter how they had to do it. Way to go intervening waitress!!
I am a little giddy, like Pam!
