Excellent recall of the soap she bought in the grocery store- Palmolive on purpose!
I'm sensing softning here-- where's the "hotstility" going? I think they still need a big angsty blow-up.

What's the penis count for this chapter?
So curious about Jim's journey to her doorstep with eggs-- but I like it better that it was a surprise.
And, who DOESN'T think about Jim during sex?!?

Your lack of sleep is my joy in life!! This was hilarious. I love bumblefuck Jim! Who calls Roy! HAHAHAHA

Thank you for not being all Puritan about meaningless sex- cause, really- it is pretty realistic. Although, I think that he would have been sufficiently (sp?) freaked out by just thinking about Pam... but saying her name out loud is pretty damn funny. Talk about awkward.

I hope Pam's not getting too soft on him... not til the angsty angry sexual tension gets to build a little more. Don't be afraid of the angry sex Stablergirl!!! It wants to be written about!

The coolest thing about these characters dynamic is the vulnerablity that they feel in front of the other. The defenses are up, because for the first time they are dealing with an equal and that throws them off their game. I love that you can convey all that insecurity.

Of course he goes to Pam, because he can't not go to Pam since she's the only person who really interests him on any level. Is it wrong that I love this Jim?

There's Jim's identity crisis again... he trusts Pam's instincts about him more than he trusts himself.
Also- celebrity defense attorney?!? Heee

I like that he called her a bitch. I mean, it's true in this case and you know she is just dying for him to call her on it. Okay, I just made up a new word. 'Hot hostility' is now "hotstility"... and these characters definitly have it. Other "hotstility" couples: Sam/Diane, Buffy/Spike, Mal/Inara, Hepburn/Tracey in everything, Hepburn/Bogart in African Queen, plus lots of Shakesperian examples: Taming of the Shrew, Much Ado About Nothing...
I'm just rambling.

Things I love in this chapter:
Toby is actually cool-
There is hope for Michael to be likable and genuine and more like Steve C. than Michael Scott-
The explaination about Kelly's wardrobe-
Roy is totally likable-
but I really love the open hostility. Very Sam and Diane- which everyone knows was hot!

I'm trying to be better about reviewing stories I really enjoyed- so I must say "great job". This was a lovely view into Jim's head and pulled together many disparate points that are probably banging around in his brain.

I think this story did just what fan fiction is supposed to do, and filled in gaps to more fully develop these characters in this story.

Author's Response: Thanks for reading! It\'s so fun to try to get into their heads.

Summary: Past Featured Story

Don't take this the wrong way, but... you should go for that job.

What would have happened if Jim had taken that job in Maryland after all? Season Two angst - spoilers for Halloween through Email Surveillance, then goes AU from there.

With all the happy!Jam fic out there it's hard to remember the gut wrenching angst of Season 2 but this chapter really nailed that. I'm glad you're writing this. I love fics that explore the what-ifs? that didn't happen instead of just rehashing different versions of what did.

Author's Response:

Hello toomeyism!  I don't think I've seen your name here before so, welcome!  It's nice to hear from you.  I'm glad you feel I hit it home with the angst here.  I've found that angst can get out of hand quickly if you're not careful, so I'm happy that it strikes the right balance with you.

It's hard to find territory that hasn't already been covered in regards to the Jim/Pam story, and so I was really eager to get working on this because I think it could be interesting.  I hope you keep reading, and thanks for taking the time to review.

This series is amazing. Just the one element of exploring Jim's Jewish background adds such richness and depth. I loved the other story, and this seems on track to be just as good.

Author's Response: Thank you, toomeyism. I\'m glad you\'re enjoying it. I hope to have the third part up early next week.

My first review got lost, so let me try again.
This is the type of story I only WISH I could write. Every character was dead on without being stereotypical. That's just awesome. Great job.

Author's Response: I\'m glad you liked it! Thank you so much!!

You know, Jim and Pam are so accessible as characters, that we all really relate to their angsty sadness- whereas Dwight and Angela are harder characters to relate to. When you draw the parallel between their experiences like you have in this piece, it just proves that what D & A are going through is just as heartwrenching. You did an excellent job of walking that thin line where it is still a Dwangela story even with the elements we are all so familiar with.

I stumbled across this story title in the "featured" list and remembered I had never left a review which is to my shame. Better late than never? This is a haunting tale that sticks with- long after the first reading. I guess the best compliment I can give is that it reminded me of "Bridge to Terrabithia" (sp?) with the exploration of grief in a young boy and Mose's loneliness through it all. I love the irony of Mose, (created on the show and fully developed in this backstory by you) that he doesn't fit in our world not because he fails to understand, but maybe because he understands too clearly? Sort of a wisdom of the innocent? Anyway, thank you for this. Also, glad to see you still writing Office fandom. You were missed.

Author's Response: Thanks for coming back! Your efforts are appreciated quite a lot. It's funny, this story is still sticking with me. After all this time, my brain still comes up with little scenes. That may mean I'm crazy, but I loved writing this story and I was sad to see it go. Thanks again, toomeyism!
