Nothing Ventured by JAMhands Rated: K+ [Reviews - 6] 6
Summary: Just a little bit of Pam introspection inspired by the prompt grid I snagged from Jam_Prompts on LJ. The quote I chose to work with on this one was: "Most people would rather be certain they're miserable, than risk being happy." –Robert Anthony

Takes place during Season 3 - Phyllis' Wedding.

So angsty and so good. I loved this. I loved the part about the cologne/aftershave. And Jim's eyes. Man he has gorgeous eyes. Excellent work! As always.

I liked the first part of this a lot. It was cute seeing their first meeting. I loved that you included the little details from the show into this, as well. And you did a great job at giving us a backstory. Especially with Pam and Roy, and the other nutjobs that work in Scranton too! Loved it, looking forward to reading the next part.

I love how you've incorporated Dwight into this story. This is hilarious, refreshing, and unlike any story I've read so far. I also liked the continuing bits and pieces of a backstory we're getting about Pam and Roy. Loved the references to the show built in here too. The way you write Jim and Pam together is always hilarious, and this is no exception. Great work!

I liked Pam's subtle gestures here to show that she's interested in Jim. I loved the way you compared her feelings for Roy at the time to her feelings for Jim. I think the inclusion of that was awesome. Also, I loved that Katy was included in this chapter. I'm really liking your take on this and I'm looking forward to hearing some of the things Jim has to say!

I loved this chapter! Stanley's pretzel thing was hilarious. I could hear him saying all of this to Jim. And I loved Kelly and Ryan there, too. I like that Jim's already smitten, but he's taking things slow. And Pam? It's cute to see how she's getting back into the game. Loved the show references in here, again. Great job.

Oh man, this just gets better and better. Phyllis, Oscar, Angela! Angela was my favorite in this chapter. I could hear her saying the lines when she was telling Pam to get away from the figurines. Priceless. I loved Jim and Pam in this. Still loving it, looking forward to the next part.

I love the end of this chapter. I also love that you included Carol and the basket instead of the teapot. I think it's really cool how you're going about this. Great job!

I like that as this story progresses, I'm loving your references to the show more and more. It's great that you worked so hard to include those. Awesome job. I liked the tense moments between Jim and Pam here. Looking forward to more...

I loved this chapter. Jim and Captain Jack and Pam... and all of it was just hilarious. I like that you included Stacy and Abby in this, that was funny too. And Phyllis! Haha. Great work!

Fantastic first kiss. That was probably one of my favorite 'first kiss' scenes ever. Great job with that. I also loved Jim's introspection at the end. This has to be my favorite chapter yet. Great job, as usual.

I loved the inclusion of the bird funeral, even though Toby wasn't there. Haha. I also loved the Pam introspection in this chapter, and the way you gave us a little bit of the previous day in her thoughts. I'm really looking forward to seeing what was up with Jim and the article... interesting twist. Great work!

Okay, this story gets better and better. Karen is the new reporter, the possible museum closing as a juxtaposition to the branches of Dunder Mifflin closing... and Kelly and Ryan and Jim... the Jim angst at the beginning was fantastic. Your idea gets more and more creative as we move through. As always, awesome work.

I love how emotionally connected I felt to this chapter. I was angry at Karen, angry at Jim, angry at Katy, confused, happy, all of the emotions wrapped up. It was fantastic. The multiple triangleish things? Fantastic. I love your inclusion of Andy in this too. Loving this more with each chapter!

This chapter was great! Meredith as the bartender! Haha! Andy's outburst, Angela and Andy... a great chapter for the characters! The ending was also fantastic. The angst is so heartbreaking but excellent. Can't wait to continue!

I liked that through all of this, you've managed to keep everyone in character. Jim, especially. Most notably with the fight with a drunken Roy. Jim pushed back, but not too early, and he wasn't sitting back and letting Roy beat him to a pulp. Also, I loved the tension between Pam and Karen, Jim and Karen, Jim and Pam... all of it was brilliantly written. I like how you used the self portrait as a representation of Pam, and how a little part of her in the portrait still remains. Excellent!

I really liked this chapter. I liked Pam's public confession. I feel like this was an action-packed disaster of a chapter for the characters, but not in the way you wrote it, but in the things that happened to them. I could feel the stress level rising... oh man! Great job.

I liked Pam's ability to confide in Jim, and I liked the awkward moment when they first met by the fountain. I thought this chapter was perfect. Nothing overly sappy, not too formal. Perfect. Awesome job!

[Oh, and happy 100th review. You must be so proud of this story, and rightfully so!]

The Karen moment in this chapter very much reminded me of Branch Wars. I'm never *positive* of what reference you're attempting to make, but I think I have it, which is awesome. I also love that you showed that Jim isn't perfect here either. The Dwight moment in this chapter? Hilarious! Awesome! Perfectly Dwight. Love the end of the chapter too. Great job!

Awww, that last line was perfect. I loved your take on the dinner. I loved Jim's pulling strings to get them seated earlier. I loved the ridiculousness of the actual event! This story is so great, you've done such a great job with it. Loving it more and more the more I read!

I loved this chapter! I think the mix of sweet and funny with serious and tense was perfect for Jim and Pam. I also loved the inclusion of Toby! How hilarious and perfect. I loved the date in Wendy's. Perfect balance of sexual tension with sweet. Can't wait for more, great job as always.

Author's Response: YAY JamJunkie! So glad you loved Toby. :) I believe that completes the basic Office characters. I haven't left anyone out, have I? Anyway, thanks so much for your kind words, they are always encouraging. :)

I loved the ending. That's my favorite part of this chapter. It not only brings us back to Diversity Day, but gives us a Goodbye Toby ending we could deal with. ;) I'm loving the Jim introspection here. And KELLY in this chapter? Hysterical! Awesome as usual.

Author's Response: Awww, thanks so much. This chapter had been in my head for a long time and I'm so glad I could finally get to share it with everyone. Oh, Kelly is so fun to write, I love being able to stick her little moments in there. Thanks so much for the review and taking the time to work with me on this! I really appreciate it! :)
