1 I promised myself that I wouldn't review until I'd read up to the most recent chapter, but this story is just beautiful! Okay, I might have a slight bias because of the Latin and the historical aspect. But still! You are a wordsmith, in the truest sense of the word. Though I do not know much about 19th century colloquialisms, you definitely give this story a distinct feel from modern fics. I love all the callbacks to historical battles and it's very obvious even to me that you've done your research. And let us not forget that this is still an Office fanfic! I'm excited to see what becomes of 1860s Jam, especially since this chapter ended on a cliffhanger and I stopped reading to write this review. Bravo!

I always feel like there is a delicate balance between just enough to round out the story, making it believable, and adding too much, bogging it down. I'm glad to hear it is the former! 1 Wow, everyone on MTT is hell bent on breaking my heart today. Pam trying to go right back to an innocuous topic right after Jim hangs up is totally something she would do. Those two have some serious communication issues, tsk tsk. Anyways, another brilliant chapter as always.
“We just... we never got the timing right, you know? I shot him down and then he did the same to me, but you know what? It's okay.”
Jim and Pam turn each other down a couple more times before finally getting together. Set after Casino Night until The Return.
1 The angst is strong with this one, but I love it! Both of their perspectives are so true to their characters. Although that doesn't change the fact that they are idiots. Of course, we can't forget the Ryan/Kelly contrast, "that’s five seconds longer than normal!" got a chuckle out of me. Keep breaking my heart because I'm here for it!
1 The TSwift lyrics were a welcome surprise. Even knowing how the song goes, all the twists still got to me. I love how Jim was about ready to vault over the railing, it gave me a chuckle and also warmed my heart a bit. It’s a love story but so very Jam. Loved this.

Every chapter is like a stab through my heart. But in a good way, because I thrive on angst. Both of their thoughts are very true to the characters and the callbacks are a delight. Can’t wait to see your take on Michael!

Thank you! I have achieved my goal if people feel uncomfortable reading this because it's like watching a "will they or won't they story" except the question is will they get a divorce?
I try as much as possible to bring nostalgia because I need the two of them to realize they've had really great moments together. As far as Michael is concerned, well Jim should know what he signed up for. He is Michael Scott after all.
1 Yup, that's Michael Scott. Initially, I was annoyed when he texted the whole office but you really can't argue with his logic. That kind of impulsive but well-intentioned behavior is a hallmark of canon so I applaud you for it. Hopefully, the time apart does them some good!

Yeah, Michael cannot keep a secret to save his life so I knew the moment that Jim would visit him in Colorado that he would be too excited to not tell anyone.
1 My philosophy is that if an author can write a good Michael, they can write anything. Of course he's going to completely forget the format and of course he's chronically bad at keeping secrets. I love all these chapters even if Roy got me to cringe a little. But I think in particular you captured Pam and Jim well through the eyes of Michael.
Favorite bit: "He’s still waiting to hear back, but they’ve not replied to any of the other stuff he’s sent them either, so they’re obviously just slow."

1 Ah yeah, everything I hate about Ryan. Which means this was a great chapter. Bold of Ryan to talk about attention seeking and blatant flirting, am I right? Have another jellybean!
Favorite (least favorite?) moment: "(If he wanted to, he could also point out that he has an MBA, and he’s not sure Pam even went to college. But he won’t, because he’s not about that kind of elitism)."
