SERIOUSLY slow motion “OHHHHHHH NOOOOOOO!!!!!!”
My heart breaks for how hurt Jim is, the funk he got himself into and knowing the petulant feeling that drove him to shred her letter. Ugh….

Author's Response: Yeah, it was hard writing Jim like that. To have him so down in the dumps. Close to something real bad starting up. Trying to just run away from his problems rather than face them. S3 was rough for sure. Hope may seem frail, but it's still flickering.

It is almost feeling as good as when Bones drew out the ‘will they won’t they’… sooo very wonderful to hear background to these cherished moments. It is almost as enjoyable to get right to the edge of finding out and then see how you move away at the last second!
ONWARD :)

Author's Response: Thanks. We had to have some tension release at this point in the story. All the "will they find out," everything was going up and up. So we'll have a nice time with the bonus gifts. Glad you liked this one.

Absolutely wonderful. Loved hearing more out of such a fun episode. Again with the near miss of the picture of her snatched away by silly time with Jim!! AACK! Doing really well with the build up to finding out! And it is so pleasant and fulfilling to be seeing all the ways the teapot gift is so much more special and wonderful as Jim’s thoughts around it come together.

Author's Response:

This one is always a favorite episode. Mainly because we get to see Jim and Pam being so great together and outside of work too. It's one thing to be work buddies, it's another thing to have a solid friendship outside work too. Glad you're enjoying all the Bonus Gifts backstory too.

Oh SO many tidbits of catchable things! Weaving in the hair plugs, the Secret Santa and giving us the backstory to Dundies!!!!! All so good!
Is the proposal station a 7-11?! Now I must find out!

Author's Response: Glad you caught a bunch of the details in this one. Always great fun to put those in there. No, I don't think the proposal station is a 7-11. From what I remember it was just a generic gas station storefront they built. It was already the most expensive shot they'd created, why add more cost by paying for the rights to use a name brand?

BOGGLE! I always enjoyed the Boggle timer silliness, but dang you brought it to my heart here! My gram was Larisa! We all had our own dictionaries l, she gifted them to us so we could diligently look up words as we played. She was AMAZING! A wordsmith that blew us away in scores every time!
I adore this scene, am excited to see how each little thread laid here plays out. SOO close with the finding out, each time just near misses of getting the story of who they are.
Really lovely, the whole picture is just marvelous.

Author's Response: Thank you! The whole Jim in the hospital arc was really just an elaborate ploy to get the story of the Boggle timer. In my family it was my older sister. Glad you liked it.

FABULOUS CHAPTER!!!!!! Loved it! And I would have loved chatting with you in the ER while you came down from the call!

Author's Response: Thank you. They've since torn it down, but at the hospital where I used to bring all my critical trauma patients, the social workers desk was right across the hallway. It was always great to stop there and chat after calls big and small. Glad you enjoyed this one.

Oh wow. Didn’t see that coming, what a very interesting reason why Pam didn’t finish college. Kenny is exactly how we would expect, of course, becoming violent in the news of Dads death. Roy being responded tracks well, what a heart wrenching chapter. So many moneys of shame and guilt to keep people ‘plodding’ along…

Author's Response: This event is going to have some long lasting ramifications for sure. I didn't like having them all go through it, but life isn't always happy. There will be good times coming though.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh…. Wow……
Just, wow, I love the passion for your work and the amazing details you shared. The beauty of a well run, working together crew, the steady mind, not panicking, but keeping the scene safe and calm to do your work. That was just… wow…

Author's Response: One of the biggest and most important lessons I learned during my initial EMT training was, "it's not my emergency." I'm not the one having the emergency so why should I come in all worked up? Walking into a scene rather than running, talking slowly, it all helps especially on the high stakes calls like this one. I very much enjoy being able to share about my profession so I'm glad this chapter, and the next one landed so well with everyone.

AWWW!!! How sweet and well put together, I am roughly their age and this brought me right back to my own high school.
More more!!

Author's Response: Glad you liked it. It was a lot of fun envisioning them at that age. There's a lot more in this story so I hope you enjoy the rest too. Thanks for the review.

I adore the way their names came out, how sweet and intriguing! And I think it is the simplicity of the life-path that is most compelling. As the reader, you can see yourself doing all of these things from chat rooms to awkward proms and even the space we all went through with nicknames or different spellings of our names.
Well done :)

Author's Response: Thanks. I had to get them to Pam and Jim eventually. Also start them down the path that will take them from these teenagers to the adults we see in the show. Still there's always something compelling about our formative years. Things that will always stay with us.

OOOOO!!!!
Jim’s interview is exactly how I would expect Michael’s interviews go! Excellent “I know that you know that I know” circle of silliness!
Larisa is a budding psychologist?!
Jim learned how to be a good boyfriend!!
Next chapter, next chapter!

Author's Response: Yup, laying a lot of groundwork here for things moving forward. I remember having a lot of fun writing that bit with Michael. Glad you liked it.

Sad & emotionally difficult chapter for sure. The constant hits Pam takes from Roy being the sad oaf he is. Good set up for the last line, that is for sure!

Author's Response: Pam said at the beach she shouldn't have been with Roy but she didn't care about any of the reasons till she met Jim. I wanted to explore that a bit, which sadly yes a bunch of hits for her. Though things will start looking up from here.

Oh my goodness this one had my heart all over the place. Enjoying their from-the-start banter, easy nature of spending time together and the gut-punch when he finds out she is engaged….. ooof….

Author's Response: It had to happen at some point. Still, there's plenty of opportunity for cute moments and banter.

Woah… got me with all the good feels of spending time with Jim & Larissa (we all do love her as the sibling sooo much!) and then made me snort laughing over the hole in the wall… my childhood home had a similar one at the bottom of the stairs because I rode my tricycle down it!
And then…. Oooof….. that is a rough end. Better use of the ‘defidrulator’ though… haha! Had Safety Training aired when you wrote this chapter??? The hilarity of Michael not knowing how to use one is well noted in your correct Paramedic procedures ;) I have more faith Jim will live.. haha!

Author's Response: Larissa, and Penny, are intended to be the voice of reason that both Jim and Pam need from time to time. Glad you're enjoying them in those roles. The incident where Jim cracked his head open was based on an experience from my own childhood on my own sister's birthday. I didn't start writing this story until several years after the whole series had ended. Though according to Jenna and Angela, the "Safety Training" episode has actually saved a few lives because people remembered to do chest compressions to the beat of "Stayin' Alive," like how they demonstrate in the episode. We'll stay with this particular story arc for the next few chapters. Buckle up, it's going to be a shocking good time.

So much in this small chapter. The ease with which Pam & Jim interact, it is so sweetly intimate. Stark contrast to the brusque way Roy is with her. Yes, grief can cause a lot of that pain, but it was there even before his dad.
And… I SOOO thought we were going to see Jaime depicted as a child in the mural! Lol!

Author's Response: To my mind, prior to Pam breaking the engagement, Roy was stuck in a high school mentality. His dad dying only solidified that. I wanted to explore that a bit here. Don't worry, lots more quality Jamie and Morgan moments to come.

Okay… I want to be in THAT room to put my two cents in with Packer and Roy! Man… Packer was an ass in canon but you BROUGHT IT with that back/forth. And poor Pam with all the ‘is that why’…. Oh my word. But then you bring us back out of it with the amazing call back to both the hot sauce AND the yogurt?! WELL DONE. And TWO MISSES with the finding out who they are to one another?!?! MARVELOUSLY DONE!!!

Author's Response:

Not a great start to the day for sure. Good thing Pam has a Jim around to help keep the from really getting bad. At least for now. Ah, you've stumbled onto my nefarious plan of them not quite figuring out who they were back in high school. Insert evil laugh here.

YOU MONTY PYTHONED THE OFFICE!!!! I love it!!!!
I mean, the whole chapter was great… having backstory for the mini golf pencil, Dwight being Dwight, the small moments of innocent intimacy that we always saw in canon. All great!! But.. dang, the Knights who Say No was EXCELLENT! Hahahahaha!!

Author's Response: Don't worry, there are more pop culture references to come. What we didn't get a lot of in canon, most likely because of royalty fees, we can get a ton of in fic.

This was probably my favorite chapter so far. Perfect blending of ‘what if’ space that we never saw while hitting all the notes we knew of!
Jan as an air carrier is such a brilliant description!
Their banter back and forth, giving us the backstory to Jim’s best/worst date scenario was just fantastic!

Author's Response:

This is more of the leaning into the off camera times we may have heard about in canon. I also wanted Jim and Pam's reunion to be angst free so they can rediscover their innate connection even if they don't recognize each other from high school.

I love this! Just getting around to more reading time and I am DOWN for the start of knowing the ‘Jamie & Morgan’ series!!!! I love the ‘fixing’ or better explaining of things that happened in canon!!!!!!!

Author's Response: Thanks. I've always found it fun to go in between the lines and scenes of the show. Add in what might not have been seen on camera that effected what we did see. Glad you liked it.

This was F A B U L O U S !!!
Such terrific backstory to why Jim hates costumes, the right mix of the two of them playing off each other and gently cajoling Jim into something without pressure.
AND YOU GAVE ME TEN?!?! Larissa as the 10th Doctor was PERFECT!

Author's Response: It being still fairly new into their dating relationship, I figure Pam doesn't have to work all that hard to get Jim to do something. Still it was a lot of fun to set them bouncing off each other so playfully. My wife's favorite Doctor is Ten so that's where that came from. Glad you liked it.
