jimhalpert:Â you mean when I was still a junior-level salesman after 5 years, making half as much money, driving a used magenta Corolla, and having practically no personal life because I was desperately infatuated with an engaged woman?sweetlarissa:Â well, when you phrase it like that, of course it's not gonna sound greatThis is a fantastic exchange, which feels very Jim *and* feels like it goes a long way towards explaining a lot of his state of mind at this point in the season. I am really happy to have this perspective on how folks in Jim's life perceived him at this point, a question I think desperately called for a fanfic answer.

Love this chapter. Love the sibling relationship. And love the way Jim describes himself : magenta Corolla! Haha. Oh, and this: 'Voldemort has a sister?' So perfectly Jim!

I think it's spot on. It makes total sense that he would have contempt for his former self. It's the only thing keeping him from going insane.

Can I just tell you .... these little stories have made this very long summer sooo much more bearable. You know, you'll have to do this next summer too, right?
Love them.

I like this version ladama. I love Larissa. But now I'm really curious about the other two versions.
Author's Response: It's not really 'versions' I just rewrote the part after "how many times have I met Pam, zero" line a few times. There was one where Larissa basically tells Jim to 'fish or cut bait' with Karen (which I feel she's already hinting towards anyway) and other where she calls him out on his 'limbo' state (doesn't want to look unavailable to Pam, but doesn't want to ending things with Karen or take another chance on Pam). But I'm defintiely happiest with this 'version'.

I think this chapter worked well. And to be honest, it would be perfect human nature that he relied on this earlier conversation with his sister to convey this thoughts to Pam at the beach. Really looking forward to the happier emails though. Are you going to continue through season 4??

If only sister Larissa popped in with unsolicited relationship advice, S3 would have been so different. Or maybe not. Jim was working that avoidance big time. Nice job, LD.

I liked it. I really like your interactions between Jim and Larissa. It seems like her meddling caused him to dedicate himself more to his relationship with Karen, which, while sad, makes sense at this point in the season. I'm excited to see how you wrap it all up!

'she who must not be named' perfect tie in ladama. I get so excited when I see a new chapter of this story posted and you're great about updating regularly. Thanks again for sharing your talent.

This was an excellent chapter. It's funny how Larissa sounds like Jim. Really great.

This captures his mood perfectly, I think! This comment:

is the best description of S3 Jim not wanting to be the pathetic guy anymore. Love it and I love Larissa! Stay on him, sister!

Ohh, these last two chapters feel so sad and real. Pam just being so... resigned to her fate, and her mom not knowing what to say to make her see... And Jim's sister calling him out on his odd behavior since Stamford, YES! This could be what pushes him along to the "I feel like I've never really...come back" realization.
