wow. this is the most perfect ending to a story ever. beautifully written. amazing song too.
Author's Response: Yay! I'm glad you like the song, I_Still_Believe! This chapter was the only one where the story came first and then I picked the song. When I scrolled through the playlist, there was no question that this would be the one. Thank you so much for the kind words. I've loved writing this story.

Oh, Sweetpea. This is what love is. A lot of time people feel like they have to write stories filled with grand gestures to show how Jim and Pam love each other, but I love the stories that focus on the tiny details more. It's so real. Love is the tiny, innumerable details, when even things that would probably be unattractive to others (like Pam singing out of tune or Jim secretly watching wrestling) somehow make your love for the other person fuller and more... everything.
This story is bigger than Jim and Pam for me. As someone who is married to her best friend, this story (and this chapter especially) has really resonated with me and I'm so glad other people 'get it'... meaning that I'm thrilled you have found away to express what it means when two people are in love. What a wonderful way to end such a fantastic story.
Author's Response: This means so much, heartcarved. I'm thrilled that this made you think of your own Jim. You're so right, that these little things are really what love is all about. Sometimes you know it - your sweetheart does something or says somthing that is just so peculiar to him and no one else that just makes you love him so much in that moment that you want to burst - and sometimes you're unaware of these moments when they happen or you're momentarily annoyed with him because he's just done the most ridiculous thing ever. But when I think back to my Jim, my most vivid and fond memories are just like the ones in this chapter: random, mundane, silly things. Give your Jim a big, sloppy kiss and thank you so much for the review.

oh sweetpea you've done it again. I love these! It's the little things in relationships that make things real and true. Such a great little collection of moments.
'Bed head' doesn't begin to do justice to his morning hair
hehe! Poor Jim.
If she can't fall asleep, she wants you to talk to her because she says your voice sounds like her dreams.
Wow. So cute. Great job all around!! ;)
Author's Response: Awww, thank you so much! Can't you just see that cutehead's hair in the morning? Yeah, 'hot mess' doesn't begin to cover it! Thanks for your help along the way and all your enthusiastic reviews!

I've loved every word of this story, and if it has to end, at least you sent it out in style. This is AMAZING. it might just be one of the sweetest fics i've ever read. I mean i've definitely read some stuff that made me "aww" more, but this is so REAL. These are real things that real people love about each other, and it's precious to think about Jim and Pam loving each other this way. The list is perfect and I can imagine every single thing perfectly. Yay for awesome writing skills! great job!
Author's Response: jinx, you've been along for this whole ride and I can't thank you enough for that. I just got choked up reading this review! Such high praise considering the great writers here. You just made my entire week and it's only Monday, but I can pretty much guarantee that nothing can happen to top this. I was worried that some of the little quirks might be too random to appreciate, but I guess not. Thank you, thank you, thank you. See you next time.

I'd like to write a pithy review, citing specific lines that really worked for me, but I can't...I'd end up copying the entire story. So, I'll sum up by saying, I think you've nailed the mundane, imperfect, idiosyncracies that make two people love each other - not just any two, but very specifically these two. Very in-character for each. And I like the 2nd person pov for this final chapter - makes it so direct and unfiltered. Such a sense of really knowing each other, in all those tiny, day to day ways that's the heart of true intimacy...which of course makes this the perfect finale for this whole, lovely series. Sorry to see it end ;-)
Author's Response: Pith is highly overrated in my book! This means more to me than all the panini in the land, Colette. I'd like to be able to say that this one was easy, but it was so hard (TWSS) - mostly because I kept crying while I was writing it. I hate to see this end, too, but I'm sure I'll come back to doing vignettes because I like them so much. Your vignettes made me realize that I didn't have to write a 97-chapter epic tale to really tell a story and convey a feeling. Thank you so much for the inspiration and encouragement.

WOW. just....WOW.
Author's Response: Oh, go on with yourself! You're too much. Thank you.

This whole story was lovely, but this last chapter might be the sweetest note of all. Your description of Jim has turned me to jello (!), and I've loved every word of this story. Well done! --CH
Author's Response: CH, I can't tell you how great this makes me feel. I haven't written anything in years and writing this story has been like being reunited with an old friend. We're still getting to know each other again and the relationship isn't as smooth as it could be, but when I read your stories I'm inspired to keep doing it. Thank you so much for reading and for your kind words.

Love this. You have such a talent for getting into their heads. Cheers.
Author's Response: Wow, thank you, expiredyogurt! This is my first hand at fanfic, so I really appreciate the review!

Brilliant! This is the best chapter in this series so far. Really like the dialogue/banter. Feels completely real.
Author's Response: Is there anything better to read than "feels completely real"? I don't think so! This was such a fun chapter to write, so thank you very much for the review!

This fic is incredible. The way you portray Pam and Jim is so in-character. I can imagine these things happening which is something that sometimes doesn't happen when I read some fics. Also, you have the right amount of fluff in them :)
Author's Response: Thank you so much! I'm so glad you feel that this is true to their characters because I usually stop myself a hundred times during a chapter and ask myself if either Pam or Jim would say or do that. I actually try to imagine the dialogue in their voices in my head and Jim's voice gets me a little distracted, so...not always easy :). Thank you for the review!

Yeah, I cannot wait for or imagine how this issue is going to play out. Nicely done, as usual sweetpea!
Author's Response: Thank you, lisahoo! It might not even BE an issue, but I can't imagine that Pam doesn't have just a smidge of guilt over Jim giving the job up to be with her. Thank you for the review.

Hey Miss Sweetpea, you deserve all your reads! I thoroughly enjoyed Jim and Pam's first fight! I can definitely see this being a point of contention if Jim has never told her this...one has to wonder if this will become an issue on the show...hmmm....
Author's Response:
Aww, thank you so much, LoveFool! I think this is probably only an issue in my mind and nothing that we'll ever really see. What probably happened was that Jim couldn't WAIT to tell Pam what he'd done and she was probably thrilled and flattered. Personally, I'd have a stroke if some guy did that for me, certain I'd never be able to measure up. But I'm not FNB, so there you go. Thank you for the review.

Just read the last 3 chapters. The way you capture the voices of Jim and Pam is amazingly real. Playful and moving.
Author's Response: Thank you so much for the lovely compliment, jinx! I'm glad we've seen them talking more, because I feel like I can take a few more liberties with dialogue, knowing that they're communicating beyond a few words and stammers. Thank you for the review!

I love that last bit!! It made me smile and it's totally them. Lovely chapter sweetpea! Looking forward to more ;)
Author's Response: Ha! I really liked having Pam turn that around on him a little, but no way he's going to back down. Thanks so much for the review, WBJ!

Glad you wrote this, sweetpea. Just perfect and very realistic that this would be their first fight. And that last line? Love it. *gigglesmort*
Another winner!
Author's Response:
You're the best, EH! There's so much stuff that we're never going to see and conversations that we're never going to hear, so, I guess we get to fill in the blanks however we see fit. Glad you liked it and thought it seemed real, and thank you for reviewing.

Yay! You win for making the sex tape scene make sense! :-)
Author's Response: LOL! Pam doing a little comparison "shopping"!! Thanks, sudzy!

...and now I'm hungry....(TWSS!)
Author's Response:
I had such a dirty response typed out that I embarassed myself. Ahem. Thank you once again, lisahoo, for bringing out my inner slam-whore.

This is....Sweetpea you are outdoing yourself at every turn! This is the kind of thing i WISH I would have written. You rock my socks off.
Author's Response:
I'm blushing here! This one was too easy, it was just a gift. I loved the "baguette" line from the premiere, the double meaning of "that's as close as I ever want to get to Pamela Anderson," my unhealthy fascination with JK's anatomy, and the weirdness of the sex-tape scene just all fell together. You are so generous with your reviews. Thank you so much.
Date: September 29, 2007 06:50 pm Title: Shake a Little
Are you kidding me Sweetpea!(Tuna)....this is FABULOUS. Not that the entire story hasn't been....but God love you for this. Nothing better than a grocery store proposal for these two!
Author's Response: Oh, LoveFool, I am so happy to read your reviews. I tossed around the idea that Michael should be the one to give Jim his epiphery, but I just fell in love with the idea of this woman...a random stranger, a widow missing the comfort of her husband's humor, to make Jim realize what he should do. Thank you so much.
Date: September 29, 2007 03:45 pm Title: Crash-Crush
There's so much I love in this chapter--I adore the grocery list, the banter, and that last line, "Hey, where's my puppy?" So great!
Eager to click "next" and read the next chapter! -CH
Author's Response: Yay! The list was really fun to do. I know we're all thrilled to see FNB blooming in S4, but I'm just as excited to see how so-in-love!Jim develops. Thank you so much for the review.
Date: September 29, 2007 03:42 pm Title: We Belong Together
Lovely! The perfect explanation for the perfect gesture.
And EVERYONE should be up at 1:47 writing fanfic. I do my best stuff when morning is closer than evening, and from the looks of this chapter, you do, too!!
Nice job! -CH
Author's Response: LOL! Great...who am I to argue with that logic, CH? There were a few mornings when I got up before the alarm went off and my first thought was that "I hope there's a new chapter of Song of Myself posted. I guess I should just stock up on coffee and eyedrops and keep going. Thank you so much for the review.
Date: September 29, 2007 03:33 pm Title: Give Me One Reason
Sweetpea---Goodness gracious, I don't know what's taken me so long to discover this story!! You write with such lovely imagery that it's impossible to stop reading. I usually keep my distance from songfics, but you've done such a beautiful job using the music to guide your stories. I'm enjoying all these chapters, and I can't wait for more! -CH
Author's Response:
I'm not worthy! I'm not worthy! Reading this was the highlight of my day, CH. I've had so much fun writing these chapters, but reading reviews has been even more fun. I'm so pleased that you read and reviewed. Thank you!
Date: September 29, 2007 09:37 am Title: Let's Do It
This was very funny. And really disturbing how many food metaphors you were able to include in this! LOL
"I am! Pamela Anderson could never do that!" Hee!
Author's Response: If anyone can get food into a love story....wait, that is kind of disturbing! This one was fun and once the whole double entendre thing started in my head, it was pretty easy. Thank you for the review, Morning Angel.
Date: September 29, 2007 09:26 am Title: Let's Do It
"'Not skinny' is quite the compliment, Pam."
*snort* I think Princess Sophia or Dangling Patriciple are also good alternates too ;)
hehe
Yet again you rock at life sweetpea. ;) lovely
Author's Response:
No, I'm a total idiot. After watching the premiere, I thought I would never have anything to write about if I was able to watch their happiness. Thank God Jim's lovestick saves the day! Thank you so much for the sweet review, WBJ.
Date: September 24, 2007 05:35 pm Title: Shake a Little
Oh, that was just divine! I can imagine Jim Halpert and cute little old ladies. Can't wait for more!
Author's Response:
He's just the kind of young man that the little old ladies would go crazy for, isn't he? God, don't let that boy loose in a nursing home! Thank you for the review, schrutebucks!
