Oh, this is painful and brutal and gorgeous. A classic example of Jim-goes-to-Australia fic.

This story was so wonderfully written and kind of shattered my heart. The "Friends" reference in the summary actually made my life.

The lighter touches just serve to deepen the shadows, there. So sad and truthful.

Oh, this was so sad and so, so Jim; but at the same time I adore the humor you threw in here, Dwight learned a jig! *cracks up* this is beautifully written, great job!
Author's Response: The Office is really a tragicomedy, isn't it. Thank you!

Okay. Literally every single sentence of this shattered my heart. Honestly, they were all so, so painful and beautiful and poignant that I can't even put it into words. Amazing.
Author's Response:
Wow... thank you so much.
(Okay, excuse my inner fangirl, but huge fan of yours here. You have no idea how happy you have just made me. So happy.)

This is seriously good. So many great passages - 'his own personal fat lady', thinking 'he was salvaging his dignity'....you so capture his despair and he's so recognizably Jim. That's two for two for you today alone - please make more!
Author's Response: Thank you so much. Glad you enjoyed.

So, while I was reading this, I was thinking of the little details that I would tell you that I loved, but as I got further and further I kept thinking that, and there were way too many perfect things for me to write or even remember. And I especially can't think of them what with all the crying that I'm doing right now. Thanks for that. The image of Jim crying in the airplane bathroom is actually kind of killing me, and the last few lines made me feel sick and awful.
This may sound like a bad thing, but trust me, it definitely isn't. Holy god, this was good. The tone was perfect, because I could feel the devastation. Jim in pain is maybe the worst thing ever.
Author's Response:
Eee! Okay, um, best review ever. Yay. Although I'm sorry if I made you cry... but not really all that much because I was aiming for the agnst. :)
But, seriously. Thankyousomuch. Really, made my day.

i think you & unfold may collectively kill me with all this jim heartbreak! this was just lovely...so real, with little moments of bitter funniness mixed in with all the desperation. it's those little moments that make this so good for me--the dwight dance, the martha stewart discussion, and michael's phone call--all funny, but in the end just make this sadder.
Author's Response:
I know. Unfold: seriously slays me.
Glad that you enjoyed. Thank you!
