I've got a fever and the only prescription is More COWBELL! Loved the symbolism in this story!

This piece leaves me feeling so conflicted about Jim, much the same as S3. I simultaneously feel a strong desire to hug him, smack him upside the head, and knee him in the balls. I especially feel like he could use a good knee-ing around the middle.
I especially loved these lines...
"There were some phrases, and some people, who would just not leave his subconscious alone. No matter how much he ignored them during the day."
“Look, if this is about Pam…” the name fell from her lips with a quiet kind of disdain. He thought she said it out loud this time because she was tired of the name being too sacred to utter in his presence.
You are definitely one of my favorite authors here, I'm so thankful that your stories are still here!

I realize this story was posted a while ago, but I have to say I've read it several, several times and it's amazing. The symbolism, characterization, and especially the resolution--absolutely amazing. Aaaand I should have left a review the first time I read it, which was months ago! Anyway. Great work.

This was amazing! I love the stylistic choice you made for the piece. Very dark and fitting. I always enjoy your writing so much. Keep it up! :)
Author's Response: Thank you! I just got back from out of town, so hopefully I'll have some new stuff soon ;-)

I really liked this piece. It brought a lot of closure to the Jim and Karen relationship that we haven't gotten in the show. Two lines in particular jumped out at me as very telling: "her face twisted with that sleepy confusion that he used to find adorable." and "lately these questions came with a hint of tiredness…a hint of disinterest and impatience."
Author's Response:
Thanks! I just really felt like Jim and Karen had this kind of lazy forced feeling between them toward the end of S3 and I wanted to reflect that in the way that Karen dealt with this situation that Jim was in where he couldn't sleep, which is actually something really kind of traumatizing. I thought what if it's not that she gets angry, but more that she seriously is indifferent toward him? And this is what came out. Rambling reply, I apologize. The point is thanks!!! Glad you liked it ;-)

Wow, you really explored the studio space with this one. Jim truly seemed numb and profoundly tired as S3 wore on, and that is depicted viscerally here. The idea of him finally finding rest as he gives up denying his feelings and keeping his distance and turns to her is really powerful. Great job. Quite a varied body of work you're building.
Author's Response: You know me, just trying to stretch my creative fingers ;-) Glad we got this together in the end, I struggled as you know. Thank you soo sooo much (/Kelly) for all of your help. You are amazing!

Ooohh, this is so good! I especially love the end when Jim finally goes to Pam, and she just understands him, and they have this unspoken language, and he's so comforted by her and her home that he can fall asleep on her couch.
Oh and I love the part when she comforted him by running her fingers through his hair, too.
Author's Response: aw thanks, yeah I love that too. So great to explore that connection they seem to have and the way that Jim was fighting it. Glad you liked it ;-) (and I always love running fingers through the hair, so romantic for some reason)

I really like this. The pacing is perfect and I can practically feel how tired Jim is. That kind of tired is the worst - mentally and physically. This is believable, too, because I think towards the end of S3 Jim always looked SO tired. Especially in The Negotiation, Product Recall, and Women's Appreciation.
Good job!
Author's Response: yeah the WORST. The only thing that gets me through that kind of tired is coffee, so i thought I'd make a point of keeping that from him too. Poor guy. Yeah all I could think when I watched those episodes was "wow...he is draining himself." and that's where this came from!! Thanks for the review I'm so glad you enjoyed it!

I love this version best of all. Seriously, you got it just right at the end now! I love that she says it meant everything, and I love that he asked. And you know that I think this one is good - different, engaging. I just hope I can sleep tonight without dreaming about Jim and coffee.
If I have the same dream again, I'm blaming you! :-)
Author's Response: Thanks for EVERYTHING!!! You rock. And yeah I give you full permission to blame me ;-)

Oh. Oh. Man.
I love it. I really enjoy desperate, haunted Jim and you wrote him very well! I liked the way you transitioned between the dreams and reality. I also really loved the way it ended. You didn't overdo Pam's explanation... it was succinct and said so much more than if she'd been verbose.
Great job!
Author's Response: Thank you! Yeah for some reason I have a habit of making their declarations short and sweet. And they're always asking each other for help. Guess it's just how I roll ;-) Glad you liked it!!! Thank you for reading and leaving a review!
