This is very simple and yet powerful. I love this sentence, "She says it because his smile is so radiant she can see it in the dark, and it somehow makes her heart both stop and beat faster, all at the same time." Very nice.

I love how simple and quiet and true this is - big fan of pieces that evoke so much emotion in such an understated way. Especially like the parallel sequence of both their thoughts - nicely structured writing and also very apt, I think, for these characters. Just really lovely.
