This was so much fun! I loved the XF quotes and the reference to Mulder in a turtleneck (drooool). You did such a good job with both Jam and MSR. Thanks for writing it :)

This was so great. I have to admit I'm a little disappointed M/S didn't burst in on them having sex though (not really, this is perfect, kidding)

I love the parallel here with Scully's "I can't" and really laying bare what Pam must have felt that night. If Jim hadn't kissed her, if he had given her some time to really think, he might have gotten what he wanted but instead he ran away. I don't blame him for this, because Pam should have been braver sooner, but it's something I don't think a lot of people consider when they come down on Pam for rejecting him.
Anyway, Scully's plea to "not do this now" and regroup made me think of all this, I feel like that was your intention and it came across well.

*For a woman who was so full of pride and who so blatantly controlled all of her own thoughts and actions, she was shocked by how much of herself she would hand over to him if he asked. She was shocked by how much of her belonged to him already.*
UGH I love it
Date: November 21, 2021 12:55 pm Title: Passing the time
*He hadn’t even realized she was in love with him.
It was fascinating the way a person could convince himself that something wasn’t true…the way someone’s self-esteem could be so low that he would shrug off meaningful glances and heartfelt confessions because it was just too much otherwise…it just made him too vulnerable. It was like, once she suggested that he’d misinterpreted their friendship…once she’d pointed out to him that Roy was who she wanted…he’d believed her like she was telling him the truth. He’d thought, yes…yes that was what he’d done, he‘d misinterpreted things. He’d thought yes…yes of course she wanted Roy, she’d always wanted Roy and had never really said otherwise. He’d been confused, and, god, it wouldn’t have been the first time.*
This is so spot on and heartbreaking ugh
Date: November 21, 2021 12:45 pm Title: Nothing.
*Mulder squinted slightly and took in the expression on Jim’s face. There was something weirdly familiar there that he felt like he’d seen in the mirror on more than one occasion. It was a special kind of panic, and even though it seemed like Jim didn’t have any sort of solid evidence leading him to believe that Pam had been kidnapped, he had that expression…that familiar edge that said that he knew because…
He just knew.*
oh my gaaaaaaahhhhhh both my jam and msr hearts SOARED
Date: November 21, 2021 12:02 pm Title: How They're the Same
Oh my god this chapter was brilliant. Loved getting to see into both Pam and Scully's heads, sort of going through the same thing, just different scenarios.
*Sometimes acting like nothing was wrong, like he hadn’t shattered her as if she was made of porcelain and then looked at the glue in his hand like he had no idea what to do with it, sometimes that was too hard for her. Sometimes it was impossible.*
...and
*Sometimes she hated the way that she would lie awake at night and stare at the ceiling, wondering if he could ever see her as an actual woman after all of the hours she spent silently begging him to treat her like a man.
Sometimes she hated the fact that she had done this to herself.*
I really hope these two get to have a heart to heart at some point.
SO GOOD

Eee! I'm a huge XF fan, so excited to have found this fic! Love it so far!
Date: August 23, 2008 07:29 am Title: It's not aliens.
This fic got me so excited I actually went and created an account just so I could comment.
X-FIles and The Office? Jim and Pam and Mulder and Scully? In ONE PLACE?
You are my god. I bow down to thee.
Also, the Scully talking head is great. :D

YAY!!! Oh man, that's just so perfect. What a way for them to finally let go. And their banter was perfectly in character.
I think Pam's and Jim's reactions made this chapter though. BWAH!

Oh I loved this one! The Pam and Scully Girlie Kitchen Hour is totally my new favorite show. I watch it every week. And that Mulder appearance was somehow even hotter than the accidental ironing board make-out session!

Oh, girl. Ohhhhh Stablergirl.
How am I just now finding this, and spending HOURS of quality work time with it?!
Yikes. This is a thing of beauty. I know you have to end it, but oh, how I wish it would just go on forever.

Mmm, nice. You make the moment of Mulder's admission so real, with just enough detail that we can really hear it in his voice. This is great stuff.

Very cute, and a side of Scully we so rarely got to see. And an admission! Sort of, anyway...can't wait to move on.

Sweet jeebus. Good thing the bathroom's clean ;o)

Delicious. Next chapter...

You don't ever have to end it lol. Just keep it going...I'll be happy :) I love the way you write Jim and Pam. That's just basically the simplest and best way I can put it. It's honest, steamy, and with the perfect amount of banter thrown in. I LOVE that Scully quote.
I love that you had Pam call her 'Scully'! I feel like I get so used to them using last names that I forget how weird it would be in real life. Is it weird to do that, though? I call a lot of my friends by their last names...maybe we just watch too much Alias and X-Files heh.
Can't wait for the dinner! Seriously...with all this homework I have right now...I need things to look forward too lol

You don't have to ever wrap things up! Seriously, this one could keep on going forever and ever. I love how Mulder and Scully haunted this chapter, without actually making an appearance. Poor Jim. I can't believe nobody called him Gah!

It can stretch on ad infinitem in my view! Another great chapter full of unexpected actions and insights and totally in character. After reading this P&J reconciliation, I cannot wait for the M&S!

Yay Jim's coming to the dinner :)

Aaah! such a great chapter!
Date: January 23, 2008 05:27 am Title: Starsky and Hutch
now she was beyond in love…now she was finished. She would never want anybody else because this was the reason she existed…
Woo. That whole paragraph was pitch-perfectly steamy an just wonderful. THe idea that poor Jim was just waiting, for all that time, is heart-wrenching, and I love the (horrible) image of Pam desperately trying to clean away the bad memories. This chapter was well worth the wait. Perfect character notes throughout, and a great way to advance the plot, while taking a nice detour into make-out land. Gorgeous!!

I haven't reviewed this before now, but I wanted to let you know how much I am enjoying it and how great I think it is.
It's kind of strange actually, I re-watched The X-Files: FTF on HBO tonight, and then (of course) that led me to youtube and X-Files FanVids. It reminded of me of that Scully quote from "The Rain King" and how perfectly that applies to Jim and Pam, and how that would make a great starting quote for a fic. And then here it is!
Well done, as always, and I'm excited to see just how this dinner is going to go.
