And just like that, all of a sudden, the world had dissolved around him like that water color painting he’d accidentally spilled beer on once, his version of reality that he’d been living in for the last ten years melting away, yielding to this strange rendition of life that didn’t look anything like what he’d been used to.
Love this paragraph. The whole thing is well written but this stood out.

Roy was that guy who peaked in high school, a blue collar worker who tried to keep his glory days active by guys' nights, poker, and heavy drinking to mask his disappointments with life. He didn't really come across as a bad guy, but rather one that just wasn't growing up, and who was more concerned about himself than Pam, even to the point of trying to keep her down so she wouldn't soar above his set station in life. I liked story a lot, as it seemed to be IC with how I viewed Roy, as not a bad guy overall, but someone who needed to mature, and who just wasn't right for Pam. I'm glad The Office later showed him making an adult path for himself, happier with a different woman, willing to go to lengths to make her happy. Pam was a bit put out, but sometimes a breakup is a wake-up call, as it seemed to be for Roy.
Anyway, great job here. I liked it.

Yup, Roy isn't the sharpest tool in the shed, but since he didn't go after Jim the second after Pam told him, there MUST have been some kind of thought process leading up to him attacking Jim in the office. Nice fill-in, and I think your idea of Roy acting out his grief over losing his plans as violence towards Jim is very likely.
Always nice to hear Roy's side; it definitely isn't as simple as Jim = good and Roy = bad.

This was really really really great! I always enjoy Roy's perspective on things, and you did it extremely well. A lot of people try to make him deep and sensitive and severly hurt when Pam leaves him, but you didn't and I'm glad.
He's still a big lumpy oaf with really pretty eyes that I love to hate. (; Nice job. -Samaire

Okay, here's the thing: I read this a few days ago when you first posted it, and I was sure I'd left a review. Seriously, in my mind, I remember typing out things like "Wow, this is brilliant stuff," and, "How dare you actually make me feel bad for Roy? :)."
But I guess it was all just in my mind, huh? So, for my lateness I do apologize. Because this really is brilliant, and how dare you make me feel bad for Roy, and all that. ;)
I'm not kidding. The "and he was that old dog" line made my chest hurt a little. :P
It's one reason why it's nice to be a part of a fandom like this one: there are lots of characters to choose from, and it doesn't just have to be all JAM, all the time. (Even though it mostly is.) So, bravo for taking an unexpected angle by focusing on Roy. You did right by him, I think.
Author's Response: Were you sleep reviewng again? :p Well thank you so very much anyway. I think that Roy had a side and, just like everyone else, he was both at fault and at least partially a victim. Thank you so much for going back and taking the time to review! It really means a lot to me.

Interesting story. It's nice to read these different perspective stories. Especially when they're written by such talented authors as yourself. Thanks for writing this.
Author's Response: Thank you so much! I love writing them as well ;)

Lovely. Absolutely wonderful. I like that even though Roy is self-aware enough to know that he isn't without fault, that he can't change anything, that it's been a long time coming, he still can't stop himself from what he's about to do. The brief flashes of memory were just enough, too. Really well done.
Author's Response: Thank you! Roy is such a slave to his own self-destructive instincts. I think that he knows, on some level, that Pam deserves better than him but that mental part just manages not to convey to the rest of him.

Loves it.
Seriously, very nicely done. There's not enough realistic stuff from Roy (or Karen's) perspective. No one's bad... they just have bad moments.
+3 karma. Just in time for finals!!
Author's Response:
No one's bad... they just have bad moments.
That is soo true in life and, considering how The Office loves to show that everyone had two sides to them, it's true for the show too. Thanks! I really appreciate the review. I hope it helps give you that extra boost with your finals ;)

I am in love with this Roy first off. And then this:
It was like getting a new puppy when you were about the put your old dog to sleep.
Yeah, we did that. We got my puppy about a year before my older dog got put to sleep.
This really is great for Roy, showing how he felt after the engagement ended, and just his realistic growth through third season, and then how he could go do that in TN.
Awesome.
Author's Response: I love how you specify this Roy, lol ;) But thank you so much! I think that a lot of the focus was on Pam's journey of self-discovery, but Roy had his growthy thing too. The only difference is that Roy managed to lapse back while Pam didn't.

This is really interesting, bebitched! You've filled in not only Roy's possible thoughts on 'the day,' but back history of when Pam and Roy met and when Jim and Roy first met. I especially like Roy's realization that he and Pam hadn't been right for a long time.
You have a little typo in there somewhere - font instead of front.
Nice job; I'm glad I followed the link from the recommendations thread! :)
Author's Response:
Thanks so much; I'm glad you did too ;)
Thank you for catching that! It's fixed now.

This was really good. I loved reading about Roy picturing Jim and Pam together, it was so interesting after reading story after story where Jim is imagining Pam and Roy. I also loved the little flashbacks. Excellent work!
Author's Response: Thanks! I think that, to a point, the show is more from Jim's POV that Roy's, so that's understandable. I love taking another look at the misunderstood or unseen characters, and I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one!

This absolutely slayed me. Gorgeous. Thank you for always bring the awesome. Favourite lines: Roy can picture them now. He’d called in sick but it‘s a Friday and they’d be getting ready to leave right then, powering off their computers and scuffling towards the coat rack. Jim would lean across Pam’s desk, slinging his lips back into one of his stupid smirks and Pam would laugh. She’d laugh and her cheeks would be pink and she’d smooth out his tie and Roy just couldn’t take it.
And: “Hey, hon.” He said by way of greeting, his eyes never leaving the tall guy with lanky limbs that was practically laying over the surface like he’d spread himself thin over toast.
Write underappreciated characters all the time, please. Love.
Author's Response: I'll see what I can do ;) Thanks so much for reading and reviewing!

That was great - I didn't like Roy either, but I enjoy the stories out there that make him a bit more sympathetic than he usually appears, and flesh him out a bit more than the stupid unappreciative oaf that he is usually written as.
Author's Response: Heh, oaf. That is a pretty descriptive word for how he's popularly portrayed. Thanks so much!
