So, my plan was to hold off reading your fabulous story until you had posted the very last chapter...why, you ask? I'll tell you why, it's because I knew that I would get hooked and then spend my days wondering when you were next going to update. My resolve failed me today and surprise-bloody-surprise, I read all 20 chapters and now I am positively overcome with anticipation! Seriously, your story is brilliant. Not only is it well written, engaging, and has caused me to cry and grin like a damn fool, in pretty much equal measure, but I enjoy reading about all the medical information too. I can take or leave ER but I would rather lop off my own arm than miss an installment of your 'medical drama'. I can’t wait for more…I mean it…I may have to turn to drink if you don’t update soon. x
Author's Response: BlindAssassin, you leave me totally speechless! I am sitting here grinning like a damn fool myself! Thank you! Thank you!

Go Vampiric!! Run like the wind.
Seriously, I am so grateful for all the fantastic posting you've been doing. What a touching story and you move seamlessly between Jim and Pam's POV. Is it time for some angsty Karen stuff? (shudder) (seriously, I do like Karen, she's cool - but they need to break up...)
Author's Response:
Thank you, MCC! And YOURS was my 200th review! I can hardly believe it!
Angsty Karen is coming in the foreseeable future.

Hey there, VB! This chapter had me feeling particularly emotional. I suspect it affected you as well. I can certainly relate to the whispered bedside conversations and that feeling of panic. In a couple of instances where I thought the floodgates were actually going to open, you came through with a well-placed bit of humor: Jim's impending hard on (you know that made me smile--wink, wink); and, the reappearance of Walker Man. I appreciate your sharing the background on your dad in one of your prior notes. I'll be thinking of him as I read this.
I'm hoping you're just full to the brim with inspiration and ready to crank out some more chapters for li'l ole impatient me : ) Not too selfish, am I?
P.S. Looked up Project Peanut Butter after your last review. Awesome concept. Good luck to your son!
Author's Response:
Ni, NR! As always, thanks for the positive feedback! I knew you had to love the "impending hard on" ... I lifted it directly from your last review! And it will definitely be my dad you're reading about whenever Walker Man appears! It makes me happy to know you'll be thinking of him when you read!
I'm feeling pretty full to the brim right now. I'm going to try to get the next chapter up tonight. If not, then I'm really shooting for tomorrow.
And, yes, Project Peanut Butter is an amazing organization. Hard to believe you can save a child's life for $20, isn't it? I'm so excited that my son is going. We're hoping to go to South Africa for Christmas and meet him. Then maybe head up to Malawi ourselves for a couple of days to see the organization firsthand.

It's hard to keep coming up with ways to tell you how much I love this story. Every word has me mesmorized.
Author's Response:
You just put the biggest smile on my face! Thank you!

I'm glad Pam's letting Jim lean on her. That ending with the hug and kiss-for-show was perfect!
Author's Response: Thank you!

Would it be inappropriate if I told you that I really hope Jim DOES get a boner and Pam notices and awkwardness insues?
On a more serious note, I'm lovin the story and how you portray Jim and his emotions.
Author's Response:
Awkwardness ensues! I love it.
Thanks very much. I'm glad you're enjoying the story. I love Jim – think he's a guy with a lot of depth. Guess that's no surprise, huh?

I seriously can't get enough of this story! I just got the chance to read it this week and it's really wonderful. I love the way you've been able to make their interactions innocent yet very intimate. And the story is heartbreaking, but I'm sure there are happier times ahead ;)
Can't wait for more!
Author's Response: Thank you so much! I appreciate your comments. I have been trying to keep it innocent yet intimate so far. Glad it's not coming across as cloying. Eventually, the story will stop being heartbreaking. Not for a while, though.

Beautiful story. Haven't reviewed yet, but I'm all caught up now and anxious for more. I love this plot, and you've done it all very realistically. Jim's POV in this chapter seems totally spot on. Love it! I hope we get the next chapter tonight :) This one was far too short!
Author's Response:
Thanks for taking the time to review, deerinthepark. I goofed off too much tonight (too much online Sudoku...) so probably won't get next chapter up till next day or so. But it is forthcoming!
Speaking of getting the next chapter up ... Howzabout you post one for Acting on Impulse? I LOVE that story and would love to see you finish it!

This is my favorite fic! I look at the recently updated just to find Cardiac Care. You are so true to their characters but the whole hospital situation is a great contrast to the office. Keep -em coming, I can't wait for "the room!"
Author's Response: Thank you so much, officeparty! I appreciate it. I'm trying to keep them in character in a wholly different situation. I'm glad it's working for you.

This is my favorite fic EVER! Keep up the wonderful work, VB!
Author's Response: WOW!! Thank you so much, tellsomebodyit! You just made my night!

VB is on fire with the updates! Sorry to hear you were feeling so bad, but it's been great to see your story unfolding. This last chapter was particularly sweet, but I have to admit, I can't wait to see how you handle the room situation :)
Author's Response: Thanks, callisto! Ah, the room ... everyone's waiting for the room. I'll say only one thing on the room ... events might unfold different ways on different nights! We DO have a few nights before Jon is to arrive, after all!

I love this story. I was hooked from the first chapter. I'm so happy that you've been getting new chapters up so quickly over the past week. Keep up the good work! Can't wait for more!
Author's Response: Thanks, GoJAM! What nice things to say! I really appreciate it.

My turn to be feeling crappy. I'll not bore you with the details, but WalkerMan bringing out the smoochy in Jim helps a LOT.
Author's Response: Yay! I'm so glad I could brighten your crappy day a wee bit ... cause you helped A LOT to brighten my crappy five days of itching. I hope your day gets better, lisahoo!

Great story so far. Please add more chapters soon!
Author's Response:
I thought your name was new on the review list, so I clicked to look over your review history and make sure before I mentioned it ... And I see this is your very first review on MTT! So ... WELCOME! And thanks for leaving a comment for me.
I plan to post a chapter tonight.

Ahhh! You are so spoiling us and I LOVE IT!!!!! So interesting how Jim is avoiding the phone call with Karen, and I love how he doesn't want to be sucked back into reality where Karen is his girlfriend and he's not married to Pam. I love how Jim just silently watched Pam caring for his father, and how that made him so proud. Great emotions going on in this story.
So, I'm greatly looking forward to what you have coming up. I'm also really curious what Pam had inscribed on Jim's ring!!!!
Keep up the good work!
Author's Response: Thank you very, very much, berrycakefan! I'm so glad you're enjoying the story. It'll be a while before you see the inside of that ring, though! (I'm glad to see you remembered it though! There have been a couple of details I've been waiting to see if people comment upon and ... they're NOT! Maybe I'm being too subtle about them. We'll see...)

Ahem...waiting...
Author's Response:
I was taking a sip when I clicked on the email link for your review. I nearly spit my sip out when I started laughing! Unfortunately, I need to look into booking my son's flight to Malawi ... he's going to volunteer with a WONDERFUL organization called Project Peanut Butter for 3 - 9 months, starting in September. Once I get some fare/flight info squared away, I'll get back to the evening preceding our first night in Guest Accommodations!

yay I can't wait to read more!
