The last line was heartbreaking. Truly.

Author's Response: good!  i mean.  sad.  but glad to have made you feel something... uh this is not coming out right so i will say thank you and end it there.

Aww! That last one was so perfect. Wonderfully displays how he still thought about her in that best-friend way, but was checking himself to make sure he didn't show too much emotion, didn't put himself out there. Great job!

Author's Response: i think this is quintessential for the mood of mid-S3.  jim fighting every impulse.  and i thought this would be fun and festive.  glad you like it (you know i'm always pleased for your feedback).

A perfect little list of things that Jim would've WANTED to give to Pam.  The last line is so touching.

Besides, his heart was damaged, banged up, and in no condition to give to anyone else.

Author's Response: thank you!

There's always a Fifth thing!  There has to be a fifth thing he DOES give her.  Oh, I hope this story is not complete.  I want the fifth thing! *pouts and stamps feet*

Seriously though, just heartbreaking.

Author's Response: ha!  you know i designed it as four.  probably because i only thought of four?  how about this: the fifth thing is given to her for christmas 2007.  as he's already given her his heart, he pays for her art classes for a year and finally gives her a christmas card that is appropriately funny, romantic, and authentically jim.

Besides, his heart was damaged, banged up, and in no condition to give to anyone else.  Killer last line.

Author's Response: aw, thank you! i hemmed and hawed about that last one - it's a little ooey gooey but i just think it's true.  glad you liked it.
