"Granmutter's right knee was deformed. Nobody wanted to learn anything there."
Made me laugh out loud. Hi-larious. Keep up the good work!
Author's Response:
I'm so glad you liked it. :) This story is done, but more will come, and you can click on my name to find my earlier stories if you'd like. I can recommend Beet Mail as being the closest to this one in theme.
I was glad to come up with the deformed knee thing; it's always fun to come up with a good gag. ;)
Thanks so much for reading and reviewing, abs294! :)

sooo cute...so glad to understand where the chicken was and what happened...still laughing about CPR and the fact that angela names all the animals!! can't wait for more!!
Author's Response:
Whoops! No, this one's done, dancer! The reader is left to assume that Angela eventually catches Mose, they eventually make peace (as they've been doing at Schrute Farms since the great Beet-Rutabaga war of 1887), and everyone has some nice Easter ham, except Angela, who eats her potatoes with the occasional sniffle and woeful cry of "George Piiiiig! We hardly knew ye." (I'm sorry, wasn't that clear? I thought it was the obvious ending. ;))
There will be more holiday stories, though, all having just as much reverence for each holiday as this one. ;) My regret with this one, actually, is I didn't have the Halpert family going to church. I would think Pam would probably go to church on Easter Sunday and at least bring Laura, all dressed in a new Easter outfit. But it didn't fit in with the story, really, so Angela attended enough Easter-related services for everyone.
I enjoyed the CPR, also. Granmutter Schrute was quite the formidable lady, but she knew her remedies.
Thanks so much for reading and reviewing, dancer288! I love reviews! :)

This line:
"Oh, of course," Dwight agreed. "Granmutter's right knee was deformed. Nobody wanted to learn anything there."
cracked me up. Good job, Kev, with this. Very easy to visualize, since we've seen it on the show. You are the queen of Schrutefic.
Author's Response:
It does help a lot that we've seen the farm now. It was a lot easier to have a feeling for the place as I was writing than when I wrote Beet Mail this summer, having only seen that little glimpse of the barn in Initiation. ("Where are all the animals?" -- must have been a big dinner coming up.)
I do seem to have found a little niche with the odd and ancillary characters, haven't I? Who else has had Stanley front and center in 3 stories? Who's had more Mose? It's a weird niche, but it's what I have.
The knee thing cracked me up, too. It's kind of a funny expression, to learn something at someone's knee, so I took it that step further. It's what I do. ;)
Thanks so much for reading and reviewing, EH! It's a great way to start the day, seeing a new review! :)

It was a lot of fun. This story needs a sequel. I want to hear more about Angela adjusting to farm life, dealing with animals and Mose. What other names are there for the farm animals? And who can run faster, Mose or Angela? We need to find out some day.
Author's Response:
I wonder if Angela now runs like Mose. I saw a Youtube video of some kid talking about how to run like Mose. I didn't watch for very long, though, because he just didn't get to the point fast enough. I'm an impatient Youtube watcher. I think Angela was going to catch up with Mose eventually and wallop him a bit. Dwight didn't seem too concerned, though.
I hope at some point (on the 'real' show) we get more of a picture of Angela and Mose's relationship. There was just that deleted scene in Money where Jim and Pam asked Mose about Angela and he just said "Angela?" in sort of a pitiful voice. What was going on there? I have the feeling Angela was a mother figure to him. I'd love to see a scene with the two of them in it, even if they were on the periphery. My other more wild theory is that Mose has a raging crush on Angela and there's a weird sexual tension going on there. Maybe an asexual tension, if there is such a thing.
I don't think I'm going to write Angela adjusting to farm life, but if prior stories are any indication, I'm probably not done with Mose, Dwangela, and Schrute Farms. I bet I've put Mose in more stories now than anyone. I think that just makes me odd, so I shouldn't noise it about. ;)
The farm animals are all named very simply by Angela, with a human name and their animal type. Chicken Jane, Sammy Rooster, etc. Angela doesn't have that wild an imagination, after all.
Thanks for reading (again) and reviewing, Swedge. :)

The scariest part is this seems totally plausible at Schrute Farms.
Frightening and scary--just like Schrutes.
Author's Response:
Thanks, katiej! This is actually autobiographical. This exact thing happened at my house this Easter! Nah. I do wish I had the 9 bedrooms of Schrute Farms, though.
From what we've seen of Schrute Farms in this season's Money episode, nothing I said here is that over the top. It's fun, now, to be able to picture things a bit more there. I hope we go back to Schrute Farms at some point.
Thanks so much for reading and reviewing, katiej! I really appreciate it! :)

Even I could never have thought of a plot so... strange. Hence, perfect Schrute.
Author's Response:
You're selling yourself short. You've already thought up way stranger stuff than this.
It's nice to see you around again. Are you coming back to the forum? You've been missed. Not by Ryan, but... ;) I noticed you were writing again. I haven't read it yet -- I'm way behind on reading. But it was good to see you were writing. :)
Thanks for reading and reviewing, Alex Wert. You'll have to read the final chapter when it's posted to see if it gets stranger or more normal. It is Schrute Farms, though, so...

Oh my goodness--so funny : ) What an image this paints. Should have known that Dwight wouldn't be having a conventional Easter egg hunt.
Author's Response:
I'm glad you like it! There's not much that's conventional about Schrute Farms. Remember Dwight's phone conversation about the agrotourism inn? They make their own mattresses that don't conform to standard sizes? They must have to make their own sheets, too. They probably have wool sheets with the wool made from their own sheep. (Itchy -- Angela probably likes it that way; it's a sort of nightly penance.) ;)
I'm glad you're enjoying this, NanReg! Thanks for reading and reviewing! :)

wow...did not expect that...great idea...can't wait for more!!!
Author's Response:
Expect the unexpected at Schrute Farms, right? I'm so glad you're enjoying this; the final chapter should be posted sometime this week.
Thanks for reading and reviewing, dancer! :)

I was worried that it was an egg hunt, not an Easter egg hunt!! Bwah!
Inschruteable is my new favorite word. When they use it on the show, Greg Daniels owes you a coke.
Author's Response:
You must know the way I think. Or maybe you read some review responses. Or maybe...you know the way Dwight thinks. Hmmm.
There are only so many Schrute jokes one can make, aren't there? I was glad to come up with (as far as I know) a new one.
Thanks for reading and reviewing, lisahoo! :)

Reading this makes me long for another episode set at Schrute Farm. So funny and such a clever idea. And this line has to be one of the best ever about a toddler (and really sounds like Jim): "We're watching him, though," said Jim. "If he starts some kind of regime of terror, we'll shut it right down." Ha!
Author's Response:
This holiday series is really making me pull out all the stops in terms of story ideas; it's kind of fun and has been a real challenge for me. And I have to say it was easier to write this story set at Schrute Farms, now that we've seen the setting. This is actually my 3rd story set there, but this is the first time I know the setting. ;)
Only Dwight would hear Joey and think Joseph Stalin.
Thanks for reading and reviewing, Colette! :)

LMAO!! This story has really tickled me so far. Mose and Chicken Jane and Girl! Very cute idea. Can't wait to see if Angela catches them red-handed and they end up looking for Dwight's cajones along w/ the hen.
Author's Response: I think the end will surprise you. ;) Thanks for reading and reviewing, BrosBeforeHoes!

I knew Dwight Schrute could never do anything normal!
Haha.. I loved it! I can't wait to see how this is going to turn out.
Author's Response:
Normal and Schrute, does not compute. ;)
Hopefully I'll wrap it up by Thursday. I think it will continue to be unschrutable.
Thanks for reading and reviewing, nepats!

An Easter egg hunt at Schrute Farms can't be anything but wonderfully odd and I can't wait to read your version of it, TLK. I love Dwight calling Jim "Girl" so much and Jim still wanting to mess with him is great, but the line from Dwight about the baby being useless made me laugh out loud.
Author's Response:
Yay! Any line that makes you laugh out loud is a good one, right? :) I could see Dwight saying something like that.
Curiously, Dwight never mentioned the words "Easter egg hunt." Everyone, including Jim, is making assumptions. Think about that. ;)
Thanks for reading and reviewing, Sweetpea! :)

This was so cute, Kev! Great dialogue, as usual. Looking foward to seeing how, or if, Schrute Farms has changed since '07.
Author's Response:
I'm glad you liked it, EH! I think you'll discover that Schrute Farms, like its occupants, is still odd. ;)
Thanks for reading and reviewing! :)

OMG, TLK, Jim answering his phone and messing with Dwight is the best. I am a total sucker for stories in which the Schrute and Halpert children are buddies.
Author's Response:
Hah! I like Dwight's response ("Girl") stolen from the show (Drug Testing, deleted scene, maybe?). I so enjoy Jim messing with Dwight on the show, and I'm sure it will never get old for him.
Thanks for reading and reviewing, lisahoo. I hope your Easter weekend is going well!

Cute. I loved the 'Mutation' line. Made me LOL out loud. (I love inserting random quotes from random TV shows. I think that's a Monk one there.)
Fantastic, and continue quickly please!
PS: Why do I get the feeling that this Easter Egg Hunt is not going to be what Jim and Pam expected?
Author's Response:
Thanks, nepats! I enjoyed the Mutation line, also. That was one of those lines that just came to me; those are always fun! ;)
Nothing at Schrute Farms is to be expected, from the first time you drive up and someone runs alongside your car, to the evening you can barely sleep with all the howling from grief and the outhouse-door-banging, to the egg hunt you thought would entertain your children. (Random quotes from random movies -- Be afraid, be very afraid.) ;)
I hope to have the next (and final) chapter posted sometime tomorrow, probably late.
Thanks for reading and reviewing, nepats! (More randomness - In my head, your name sounds like nee-pats, even though I know it's for the Patriots.) :)

aww...yay...cute idea...can't wait for more!!

I'm glad you liked it, dancer! I'm hoping to post the rest sometime on Easter, probably late. ;)
Thanks so much for reading and reviewing. :)

Question! How can Heike be so much fun ...if her parent's aren't? I can't wait to see what a Shrute Farm "Easter Egg Hunt" looks like....should be very interesting. Something tells me I'm in for a surprise!
Author's Response:
It's a benign mutation -- Heike should be a rigid, bizarre person like her parents. Somehow, she's not! Life was kind to Heike Schrute and to her future co-workers. ;)
Clues to what the hunt will be like can be found in Dwight's side of the phone call. Or you can just wait for the next chapter, which will hopefully be up sometime on Easter (perhaps late evening on Easter.) I think you're rather new to us here -- if you're interested in Schrute Farms in general, you may want to read my Beet Mail fic and (if you have a strong stomach and a bizarre sense of humor) Mose and the Seamonster, an Epic Love Story. (I hope those links work; I'm not positive about how to link in the fanfic part of MTT.) There are other stories people have written that are set at Schrute Farms, but I'm afraid they're few and far between, and I don't know titles/authors offhand.
Thanks so much for reading and reviewing, Mr Bill! I hope you enjoy the ending also!
