tricking Dwight into eating a peanut butter-soy sauce-pickle-honey sandwich because it was "rich in antioxidants
When I read that line I had to stop reading 'cause I was laughing so hard. That is so completely THEM. And so completely Dwight.
Jim was looking at her with this fond, sweet look
That right there is a PERFECT description of how Jim looks at her.
"Probably," she said.
Ooo. Pain and joy altogether. I like it that she has doubts and he has doubts and still they manage to hang in there together. Well done. Thank you for sharing this.
Author's Response: Thank you. :) It's fun to play with the romance on the show, but it's fun to play with the doubts too, you know? And I had a lot of fun thinking up just the right disgusting sandwich.

Wow...that was great. I think the ending fits really well, and that these 2 really have a lot to get through before they get married, so I loved it. Really believable; you got into Pam's head nicely.
Author's Response: Thank you!

Very deep and lovely. A perfect glimpse into Pam's head. And I can definitely see Jim fretting over the idea of actually asking her. The ending was very real and fit well with the story too.
But, for the sake of my sanity I hope Pam says yes to Jim in the show.
Author's Response: Thanks -- and man, he already seems to have been fretting for a while now. I want those two crazy kids to end up together, but only when it's right for both of them.

Just gorgeous and epic all rolled into one. I love these unresolved stories, the whatifs? they leave behind. And of course, props for the song title. One of my favorite Rilo Kiley songs ever.
Author's Response: Thank you. I have totally been trying to find a way to use this song for a while now (and still want to make a vid to it, seriously).

I really liked the build up of this story. The ending was classic. I was frustrated with it, but a good frustrated. I like your choice of word. I loved the angst and drama too about a subject so many people think of as "fluffy." In reality, this is an intense topic. Well done!
Author's Response: Thanks! The word choice honestly didn't hit me until I got there. :)

Oh wow. I always love your writing, even if it's not the happiest of endings. I still think Jim and Pam have some stuff to work through, and a situation like this would definitely count as something that needed to be worked on. Great, great job, as usual.
Author's Response: Thank you! Believe it or not, this is more along the lines of the stories I wrote in other fandoms before this one (something about Jim/Pam just brought out the squee in me), and now that they're having more mature and realistic issues with their relationship than the UST I felt like revisiting this kind of story.

Brilliant. My heart's in my throat.
( I'll leave more cogent feedback at LJ, where I read this the first time!)
Author's Response: Thank you. :) :) Silly as it sounds, I kind of felt that way while writing it, too.

I really enjoyed your story as always because the prose was great as always. You captured an ambivalence in Pam, and I could conceive that Jim is not proposing because he thinks/feels she is not quite ready. This idea that Pam wants the choice to be made for her by having him propose rather than her initiating a discussion about it did feel very real. She is one to avoid issues, even if she has worked on changing that about herself after her breakup with Roy. I could see getting mad with Jim for not forcing a break in the status quo after the desk discussion regarding a proposal. That being said, if Pam was unpleasant to him for 6 months because she was waiting for a proposal and copped to that, giving him a "probably" reply would seem cruel. Pam has done many things wrong in her relationship with Jim, but I haven't seen her being cruel to him on purpose. So I am ambivalent about the ending of this piece, but still interesting to think about.
Author's Response:
First off, thanks for the honesty, and your kind words. My feeling throughout this story was that it couldn't just end with a "yes" or "no" because Pam still didn't know what her answer was, and Jim hadn't given her a reason to decide either way because he was just sitting on his hands like he has in the past. He was the one who raised the stakes with his jokes but he didn't follow through, and while eventually she responded badly to that, they were both just falling into old patterns. (I also meant for her frustration and unpleasantness to really escalate only towards the end.) I certainly don't see their conversation ending with that last line, but getting from "maybe" to "probably" was a big step and they both had more to deal with before it moved to "yes."

Wow. Thanks for posting this, it's excellently written. Really true to the more dramatic side of Jim/Pam too, I think.
Author's Response: Thanks! Much as I like seeing them happy, there are still a lot of deeper things to explore with their relationship too.
