Oh Colette - you hit the nail on the head every time, I swear.  I love your Jim and Pam - their easy way with one another, the way they are a team in every way, but still have their own identities.   Your writing is just lovely, and I cannot wait for more!

Author's Response: Very flattering, kells. Really pleased that they come across as having their own identities - just as I hoped. Thanks so much for such a generous review. More tomorrow, I hope ;-)

Pretty damn magnificient indeed.    Didn’t you already give me one of those this morning?’ she’d teased. ‘Two, actually,’

Awesome.  I enjoy your work so much.  WIth this one, we get not only your wonderful sense of the characters but a vivid sense of place as well.  As usual I'm left grasping for superlatives.  Thanks for this.

Author's Response: Well, as usual, I'm grasping for ways to say how much I appreciate your praise, brokenloon. So pleased you're enjoying this...more to come soon.

I love the visual you painted here.  Not having been anywhere near the city, I had no problem creating the scene in my head and that is one of my favorite things about reading, so thank you for that.  There is a reason you are among my small list of favorite authors.

Also, can I say how refreshing it is to read something that doesn't suggest that Pam discovering who she is as an artist in New York and being with Jim are mututally exclusive?

Author's Response: I love hearing that something I wrote has some visual punch. And yeah, I never saw Pam as the sort to have an awakening that would discount her relationship with Jim. Hell, most of my family/friends are artists or designers, and it hasn't been my experience that it's often an either/or proposition. A solid, supportive person in your life can be liberating, not limiting. But, before this becomes another chapter...thanks so much, WIL - so pleased you enjoyed!

It's amazing.  I dreamt parts of this story the other day.  Well - not so much dreamt.  I was awake and walking home from work down that stretch of Broadway that's kind of sketchy and full of perfume and accessory shops.  And - in my fanfic funk - was thinking about Pam wandering around the city while Jim was back at Scranton.  I even saw the words "bed's too big" in relation to Pam being here alone my mind as I walked.  I thought about how long they'd been "together" and realized one year is a lie.  The resulting story - if I can ever get it written - will be much different than yours of course - but at least you have assured me on I'm the right track.   And a song I listened to on the way to work today would make the perfect soundtrack.

So - enough about me.  Back to you.  This chapter is like a mini movie and I see every scene so clearly.   You are amazing in the way you keep their voices even with very little dialogue.   You write good missy. :)

Also?  I love Jim.  A lot, a lot.   And of course - you too for writing this. :)

Author's Response: Just more proof that great minds obsess alike ;-) Can't wait to read your take on the summer of long distance lurve. And I like that - a mini movie - cool. Oh btw, even though I know I seem blase about him - I kind of like Jim too. Thanks, you!!!

Dammit, Colette. I knew this was going to happen sooner or later. I'd keep posting parts of No Stairways Just Stairs and then you'd show up, being all awesome and... why are you so awesome, anyway? This is really fantastic - sweet and simple and sweaty. I figure if we all keep writing them happy and engaged enough happy and engaged residue will build up and it'll just happen. Right? Right.

Um, if you go check out my latest installment, there's a little present in there for you. Just a little one. It's pink and waterproof.

Author's Response: Dammit Talkative! It's an honor and privilege to have our fics posted side by side ;-) And yes to willing an engagement into being...let's all concentrate - maybe it will be like Jim moving the coat rack. I absolutely will checkout your latest chapter, as soon as I have a minute. Pink and waterproof? I'm intrigued. Many thanks!
