The Princess Bride is one of my all-time favorite books and movies. This was an absolutely lovely take on bringing two of my favorite worlds together. So clever and a great use of our favorite characters. Really great stuff!

Oh my God, you are a genius! This was inspired. It tied in so well with The Princess Bride, but you still had the timing and the flavor and the humor of the office.
My name is Dwight K. Schrute. You killed my avatar. Prepare to die. -- I swear I fell over I laughed so hard. And Ryan and Kelly curing death, my face hurts from grinning so hard.
I love this like candy. Thanks!
Author's Response: Thank you, pigeon -- glad I could make you fall over :)

OH MY GOSH! That was...wow. Stroke of PURE genius!
Making Dwight Inigo Montoya and Andy the six fingered avatar/swordsman was just...wow. I'm blown away.
I'm so sorry it took me this long to find it but absolutely BRILLANT.
Very very good job! :)
Author's Response: Thanks, Snarkland! This one's getting a second readership because of the new listing.

So I found this through the handy archive of featured stories at the MTT boards and I'm so ashamed I'd never read this before. Because, seriously, might be the greatest thing ever written. I just.. wow.. perfection. So utterly good and I just.. yeah. I love this so much. And I need to stop babbling but this was SO GOOD. I wish I had more words to properly articulate this awesomeness but suffice to say, it is awesome. Clearly.
Author's Response: Thank you, oobadnama -- this was a fun one to write -- I'm glad you liked it!

I'm just finding this one, but I LOVE IT! I love The Princess Bride to begin with, but with Jim and Pam, and Packer as the villian, it's just great. And Ryan telling the story to his and Kelly's granddaughter? I just can't even talk about it. :) Great job.
Author's Response: Glad you found it, Smurfette -- thanks for reviewing!

She didn't.

When she heard he'd been promoted, she thought she might call him.
She didn't."
Well, that will just break your heart in half right there.
Wow.

Jim's eyebrows rose. "Michael has some pretty compromising photos of you and one of the gorillas. And the gorilla's on top."
This really sounds possible to me. Hmmm.
Toby chuckled and said, "Have you ever considered starting your own business? Somewhere... not here?"
Oh Toby. That is so Toby. So perfect....
Author's Response: Yes... Toby :)

he leaned back against the cold stone wall, and pulled out his phone. Concentrating very hard, Jim sent a text message to the last person he ever thought he would.
Help. The Pit. NYC.
A few moments later, he sent a second one, just in case.
6 fingers

In front of him, Andy chuckled into his phone, and said, "Sure thing," before hanging up. He clicked around online a few times, then turned to Jim.
"Hey, Big Tuna. Can I interest you in a friendly match?"
Jim looked up, confused. "What?"
Andy rolled his chair back so Jim could see Andy's monitor. VirtualSwordfight.com. Andy's avatar bounced while it waited.
Jim sighed. "Sure. What the hell." He logged in and their match screen came up. Something caught his eye. "Huh."
For crying out loud! I knew it was coming and I still got chills! How do you do that????
Author's Response: Yay! Glad it worked!

ARM: "Hello."
ARM: "My name is Dwight K. Schrute."
ARM: "You killed my avatar."
ARM: "Prepare to die."
DPR: ...
DPR: Good luck with that.
ARM: Thank you. I sense honor in you. Too bad I have to kill you.
DPR: You seem pretty special yourself. Shall we?
I can only dream of writing like that. Just. so. Dwight. AND Just. so. Jim.
Author's Response: OK, is it bad that I want to go back and read this one myself, after all your quotes?! I guess that's a good thing :)

Except Michael, who yelled, "Inconceptable!"
Dwight looked at him closely. "You keep saying that. I don't think it means... anything."
Love, love, love!
I'm doling your stories out slowly (one a week, it's torture, but must be done) even though I want to read them all right now!!! Please keep writing stories, please please please!
Author's Response: Aw, thanks, Muggins! Glad you're enjoying them. :)

That was a great story. You did a great job of keeping the story moving, making it interesting, and keeping it in line with the orginals. Loved Dwight and his quest. Heck, I just loved the whole darn thing.
Author's Response: Thanks, SycamoreGirl - Dwight's quest was fun :)
Date: December 03, 2006 09:04 pm Title: The Awful Contest
I really like it...except the phrase "inconceptable." It was "inconceivable" in the movie:)
Author's Response: That was intentional: another Michael Scott entry into the vernacular, alongside "incalculcable", "nebulose", and "approachabler". Thanks for reviewing.
Date: November 23, 2006 07:22 am Title: The Finale
Haha, how many times did you watch this movie? Cute story anyway.
Author's Response: Um, a lot. I mapped the story scene-by-scene, so I wouldn't miss anything. So there are a lot of parallels. Thanks, Kelly :)

What a lovely story. This is definately one of my favorite all time adaptations. What's particularily rewarding about The Paper Bride is that it takes a common idea--using characters in a story setting that is not their own--and really adapts it well.
One of the hardest things about adaptations is allowing the characters to truly feel like they are a part of the story and to allow the characters room to be themselves. This story does that fabulously. I was also thrilled to see the story pulled off set in The Office itself. That is something definately to be proud of.
I generally think the earlier scenes were better written. Towards the end, the characters seemed to conform more and more to the original Princess Bride. I also felt like the whole story was hastily written and if it had a thorough once over, it would be perfect, but that's a really really minor point. Keep up the good work.
P.S. I'm a huge fan of the Princess Bride.
Author's Response: Thanks for the constructive criticism, Dooflegna. Once NaNoWriMo is over, I may do a once-over on several stories here. Glad you liked it!
