I've read this before, more than once, yet I'm still here with tears streaming down my face! That is so clearly the sign of an amazing storyteller. To bring out that type of emotion, when one knows basically what's going to happen, and with fictional characters... you are just really awesome at telling this. I find that there are some fics out there in the medical genere, that really have far too much medical jargon in them. I bow to an author for really wanting to keep it accurate but it gets cold. Also when you read too many terms you are unfamiliar with your eyes kinda glaze a bit and I know I'll find myself starting to skim which leads to me missing important or cute moments I wouldn't have wanted to miss. On top of that to tell a very real story, keeping it relatable yet keeping the heart in the story, well, let's just say I'm ashamed I didn't review this years ago when I first read it. I don't know if you said somewhere in here that this is based on an experience of your own or if it's just something I've taken for granted but assumuing I'm right about this then I really want to applaud you. The thing is, there are some really great writers, ones that are well loved that put too much of themselves into the stories. For example, they start giving Jim or Pam so many of their own or their spouse's qualities that pretty soon they've kinda lost me because that person has pretty much become someone else. Or if it's a younger person for instance and they are writing about Jim and Pam's kids, often Jim and Pam as parent's stop being the people from the show and instead are just stand ins for that writer's parents I don't know if I'm making any sense. I just know that through the nearly decade I've been on these boards those stories that authors put too much of themselves into have really kinda lost favor with me. I think maybe my idea of who Jim and Pam are is now so strong from rewatches etc that I know when it just seems off. SO... sorry I got caught up in too much explaination (not that you'll read this anyhow as this story is quite old) I just wanted to say that I really admire how you really did a balancing act of experience/medical knowledge/general Jim/Pam. I'm going to reread your other stuff next. I remember a couple fondly, one where Jim and or Pam write letters to the kids and another where the kids kinda mirror the DM staff a bit too much. I've decided I want to try harder to review fics I'm rereading as I know that I often will read reviews first, especially if I'm on the fence about a story. This one honestly is just far too good to pass up. I'm so grateful that you shared your talent with us.

I know pam's going to make it; she's got Carol and Abby working on her. Sigh, but no George Clooney...
Author's Response: haha this comment made my day

oh my goodness. so adorable. this story was the life - and amazing, too - how pathetic did that sound? lol
anyway, so sweet - does the pink crib mean a little girl baby for the family??? i hope so? maybe you could continue with a little girl in the jim/pam/j.d./_____ baby girl family. that would be awesome. a erntedankfest miracle.
also, love the reviews are almost as good as....'s awesome!
sorry for such a terrible final review for an awesome story, i'm just at a loss for words of how great this story was. it's amazing how you went from such chaos and nightmare-ish scenes to happy fluffity ficettes such as these few ending chapters.
great job and if you ever need a beta let me know!
100/10 for pure amazingness of this story and how you were able to give us readers such variety in one perfect story!
Author's Response: aww thank you! yes, j.d. has a baby sister..... and i'm almost done with the story of her arrival!
and don't worry, it's pure happiness in this one. :o)

swanky. very swanky chapter! lol. lovely, and i loved jim's idea of the family nap, pam wanting to sit in the back and of course the picture before going inside the house. so great! nice research, you are simply amazing.
wonderful - and i'm not getting my hopes up for the 'next' button taking me to the next chapter, probably just the medical glossary... but here goes...
if nothing happens, post soon!!!!!
this time 13/10 - for everything i said last time and the 'swankiness' - perfect.
also, just realized that swanky is a great word for the show - considering they did the whole bit on hilary swank and her maybe/maybe not hotness... just saying...

oh my god - you mentioned me in the A/N - lol! but thank you - i appreciate your efforts!
you probably thought i disappeared, i have, since the malware thing has been going on. the last time i was on MTT was Thanksgiving itself! so long ago! i just thought for old times' sake and to see if it was working again i would come here and i was shocked to find it up and running again. YYAAAAYYYYYY!!!!!
but anyway, nice job with the, what did you call it? (scrolls up and checks) Flut. it was fantastic. and perfectly fluffy, and smutty and just wonderfully amazing. great work and i'm off to read the next chapter.
and then study for spanish semi-finals! ahhh.
by the way, 12/10 for awesomeness in the chapter, and for being the best first story after being gone for 20+ days ever.

I love how you ended this with a throw back to the beginning that I remember thinking was so freaking adorable. This was a really sweet story. Great job!
Author's Response: thanks! it's funny, i wrote the epilogue while i was in the middle of writing chapter 8... i had a bit of writers' block, so i was re-reading the story from the beginning, and the idea suddenly came to me.
and then i thought, "well crap, i have an ending... now i just need to write a middle."

I love everything about this whole story! I'm so glad I have an iPhone so I could read it on here since I still can't get it on the computer. Anyway, I already reviewed I know, but I had to tell you that the last three chapters were beautiful! Wonderful story!

That was SO cute. What a lovely way to end the story I'm going to miss this :( You better have something up your sleeve lol
Author's Response: yes indeed i do..... takes place just a few weeks before the epilogue... hint hint.
kind of the antidote to the first chapters of this story.

This is nearing the end *sobs* I love it, welcome home babycakes aw!
Date: November 11, 2009 10:05 pm Title: Week 5 - Finally
I'm a sucker for a wiggly baby. It was nice to see an update of this!
Author's Response: i love wiggly babies too! my best friend's 8-week-old does that whenever his daddy comes home from work. actually, he did that while he was in the womb! whenever my friend's husband would talk to her belly, he would suddenly start kicking and squirming.
Date: November 11, 2009 06:08 pm Title: Week 5 - Finally
*sigh* This is like one of my most favourite fics ever :)
Author's Response: awwww thank you!
Date: November 11, 2009 05:31 pm Title: Medical Glossary
J.D. is coming home! Yay! =)
Date: November 11, 2009 05:16 pm Title: Week 5 - Finally
aww, little J.D.'s coming home! yay! Jim is such a good daddy - and husband i might add, constantly watching out for everybody and noticing the little things that add up - such as Pam's shirt.
great job, and cute pj's! i can't wait for the next chapter!
Date: November 07, 2009 10:16 am Title: Week 4 - Shopping
Oh man, I cannot wait until Jim and Pam take little J.D. home for the first time. I'm enjoying this story a lot, especially when I go back and read from the beginning and realized that the scary parts are all over and it's good time ahead.
Also, I know next to nothing about babies and pregnancies but I feel like I'm learning new stuff just by reading this story! Aaaaand....I'm learning more about Toys-R-Us products. So...win-win-win :D
Date: October 29, 2009 01:49 am Title: Week 4 - Shopping
Dudeeeeeeeee, that was just FULL of perfectly awesome cuteness, guh!!!! I love the idea of Jim getting excited about a baby spa bath LMAO. Seriously this was REALLY cute. I never want this to end.
I also want to work at Baby's R Us :(
Author's Response: thank you! it's true... it's the dads who get all excited. they light up like kids in a candy store when you give them the scanner gun. so many times, when i print out the registry when they're done, the mom will be like, "seriously honey? 8 pacifiers?"
i love working there. everyone's happy there (because come on, who doesn't love shopping for baby stuff?) and i get to see babies all day. the only part i hate (other than the crappy pay) is that i have to be at work at 6 AM two or three times a week. i make and put up the signs for different promotions and sales, so i have to get there early. blah.

Happy you have your writing flow back. Links at the end of the chapters are awesome and Pam breastfeeding is superb!
Date: October 28, 2009 05:58 pm Title: 4:03 AM
well then. you answered all my questions - thanks! as sad as i am you won't be writing the welcome home party chapter i don't really care - i'm happy to read whatever you'll give us - such a great story. looking forward to more!
Date: October 28, 2009 04:52 pm Title: Week 4 - Shopping
oh my goodness, that was adorable. so nice to see that jim and pam still have their perfect chemistry even after J.D. is born. not that i'm saying they wouldn't - but sometimes (or at least i'd assume - because i don't have kids) parents are so attached at birth and constantly talk about their kids when they're away from them. if that makes any sense. well at least it did in my head.
sorry this review doesn't make any sense, i loved this chapter if that wasn't clear to you! i was beginning to wonder how you knew so much about babies and preemies. if this isn't too personal - do you have any kids or know someone who had a preemie. and where do you get all the hospital pictures? i really appreciate you adding them to the chapters so we can read descriptions along with seeing visuals.
great job - i can't wait to read more chapters - the welcoming home party should be fun to read!
Author's Response: the pictures of babies i got from google. the pictures of different products i got from babiesrus.com. i don't have kids, but i have 8 nieces and nephews. my niece was a preemie, but at 36 weeks, so she wasn't in the NICU. she was tiny, 4lb 13 oz, but healthy. her younger brothers were also preemies, at 36 weeks, but since they were twins, they were smaller and spent a week in the NICU. my friend had her twins at 34 weeks due to a placental abruption, but had no complications, and the babies were 5 lbs each. they spent 2 weeks in the NICU. and now they're 10 months old and almost 30 lbs each. mama's milk is doing them good. :o)
as for my knowledge on babies & preemies... i'm a nerd when it comes to health. i watch a lot of discovery health channel. anatomy & physiology fascinates me. i've also been babysitting for over 10 years, so i did research on babies. i also like to research things so i can make recommendations at the store.
i'm actually not going to be writing the welcome home party... i'm going to go straight from J.D. coming home to the epilogue. so 3 more chapters to go. one of them involves some smut... *cough*
ok, it's more fluff than smut, but whatev.

A-DOR-ABLE!!! so cute, you've got the banter down perfectly! Oh and the spa tub? Does it clean baby better than a regular tub? LOL
Author's Response: no. it doesn't. you're basically showering them with the dirty bathwater. it's also gotten REALLY bad reviews by the parents online. apparently it leaks and doesn't work, etc. the whale tub, however, has the highest rating. and it's darn cute.
Date: October 24, 2009 04:33 pm Title: Week 3 - One Step Closer
Aw, glad to have this story back. This chapter was so quietly intimate - I like that. Love that the little guy is getting stronger too.
Date: October 24, 2009 03:56 pm Title: Week 3 - One Step Closer
God this fic is full of cuteness that it almost kills me. I love it so much!
Author's Response: thank you! i'm ready to do CPR when it gets too cute for you! ;oP
Date: October 07, 2009 02:46 pm Title: Week 2 - Back to Work
Absolutely LOVED this. I loved the talking heads and everyone's reactions to the pictures of J.D - you nailed Kelly perfectly!!!
*massages your writers block*
Author's Response: you nailed Kelly perfectly!!!
that's what she said. ;oP
Date: October 05, 2009 08:06 pm Title: Week 2 - Back to Work
It's funny that you thought this was clunky, I thought it was one of your strongest chapters yet! It flowed really nicely, and more than that - your voices are so freaking spot on fantastic. Oscar -- who I think is hard to do -- was pitch perfect. Very nicely done!
Author's Response: Oscar -- who I think is hard to do
aaaaaand that's what she said.
and thank you! for the review, and the TWSS setup. ;oP
Date: October 05, 2009 06:04 pm Title: Week 2 - Back to Work
how did i not see the FABULOUS chapter update? stupid school has gotten in the way of my sanity and fun-fic-reading-at-MTT time. darn.
but great chapter anyway, as always the ensemble's dialog was perfect!
Author's Response: you didn't see it because it was just posted today. :o)
Date: September 28, 2009 07:59 pm Title: Week 1 - Breathing Easier
This was such a cute chapter! Jim and Pam are already flirting and bantering with each other again. Makes me happy to read after those early scary chapters. I'm sure it won't be long until JD gain a younger sibling ;o)
