Okay wow. This is almost the exact same discussion I had with my mum. I thought Jim handled that BRILLIANTLY. And the "I trust you," is definitely the best thing a parent can say to you. Excellent chapter. I'm gonna miss these!!

LMAO at the Vespa, you forgot the sandles - they always wear sandles when riding their vespa's in Italy lol :)
I really loved how dramatic Cece is, it's sooo spot on for a bratty teenager of her age, and the dropping dead of embarrassment line, where he said no one has died from that before was just perfect!!

I remember doing pretty much the same thing when I was that age. Isn't it ironic how kids say things like 'you don't care about me at all,' when parents are just trying to keep the kid safe? It's crazy. Now I'm feeling guilty about doing that to my parents too... maybe I'll go buy a cake or something... Looking forward to more of these little snippets.
Author's Response: Oh yeah. And it never completely ends. I'm 30 and I swear my mother can still push my buttons in a way that sends me back to being 13. In my defense, however, if I say "Mother, I don't want to talk about that," she tends to keep pushing. But I find myself bordering on hysterical around my mother from time to time and almost never around anyone else.

Ivy, I have a 17-year-old son (who has had his license for two months) and a 15-year-old niece. I can feel Jim's pain. Your characterizations are really spot on, and you've captured the perfect combination of concern and humor. I got a good chuckle about the Vespa and Pam's comment :D
Author's Response: Thanks so much for saying the characterizations are good. I'm not a parent, so I'm guessing based on my friends/coworkers who have kids and memories of my own years as a teenager.
The driving thing... I really do want the age changed to 18. I want a kid to have to have a high school diploma and pass a civic responsibility test in order to get a license. I've been nearly run over by teenage drivers too many times.
I can't take the Vespa.

Wow I so love this story :)
I told my mom "I hate you!" once, and only once. You would have thought that I had just killed someone. Let's just say she didn't talk to me for a week and I was major grounded.

sigh--I remember those days. Thanks for sharing this with us :) I'm loving this story so much, I'd love to see maybe some longer chapters, they end too soon!!

Oh God, she sounds exactly like my sister! Anyway I completely love this story and I'm really embarrassed that I've waited 14 chapters to review, but keep it up! So great and so realistic; I bet she's caught with a zephyrhills bottle full of liquor next chapter :)

Aw this is fun! What a gem that line was about Cecelia being reluctant to grow up and how Jim could understand that. Haha! Love that.

You and me, Ben & Jerry's, right now, 'k? So cute and delightfully awkward. It seems that for each year you've chosen the perfect representative vignette, ivy. Well done.

You handled this inevitable situation in just the right way IMHO. Jim's response to CeCe's plight was perfectly in character. Clever of you to have Pam working late. Great job, ivy!

Very honest, well done body language moment. I could just see the poor boy approaching. Really, Jim, you should have been a little easier on the guy. *grin*

Yeah, bring on that ice cream. Whew! So this is where the boys really come into play, huh? Yikes!

The way you write Jim as a father seems so in character to the way he would deal with this situation. She's a lucky girl to have him as a daddy.

These are getting sadder and sadder :( Just, you know, the growing up thing. Still great writing, though. Amazing, actually!

Sad, but wonderful memories he has (you know, cause he's not fictional, right?) That's funny about the ticket :)

Wow, I ask the question about work and here it is, next chapter, answered!
"But since when was he “Dad” instead of “Daddy?” It was a little heartbreaking, actually." Yeah, that's hard.

This story makes me realize how much I don't want my baby girl to grow up!! Question: Do they still work at Dunder Mifflin? This may be answered in future chapters, huh? I should wait and see, right?

Nightmares are the worst- don't they just break your heart? "You Are My Sunshine" never fails to put a lump in my throat make me teary-eyed while I sing it. Such a sad song.

Ice cream? Hell to the YES I want some :)
Aww, I love how he's watching his baby grow up and how difficult he's finding it. As usual, this was made of wincakes.
