Oh, I loved this! I really believe it was these little moments like this one that made them fall for one another. Is that overanalyzing fictional characters too much? Eh, well. That's what these fics are for, right? This was really sweet, and I can really see this as having happened between takes, and I'm happy that they never kissed here, it keeps that last episode of season 2 sacred as it should be, and feeds into the line 'you have no idea how long I've wanted to do that.' Hope you have more stories to share with us on the way!

Nice insight to that scene. I wondered if that kiss was in Michael's script, since it seems to small of a detail for him to write it, but at the same time, Jim did lean in... I like this explanation :)

Author's Response: Thank you so much KH. So much of Jim's and Pam's stories, particularly through Season 5 (at least in my opinion) has always been about what was really going on inside each of their heads...at least when it came to each other. So trying to explore that aspect of their story through my "fic" writing as always been part of my inspiration. Hannah...so happy you liked it. And even though "they" didn't get to really kiss each other in this story...at least we know that "kissing" seems to be very much on both Jim's and Pam's minds! Don't tell anyone, but something tells me they might actually get there somewhere down the line...our secret, okay?

You have captured the 'voice' of Jim & Pam and the other characters and I enjoyed that you took this little section of the play and wrote about what might have happened -- I think it did! I also admire your skill in describing the speaker as they are talking, if you catch my drift. It's not easy to describe a speaker's body/mind state in a few words. I'm impressed!.

When I do write an Office "fic", I really do hope that readers do think they're seeing and hearing Jim and Pam...and everyone else in the circle...well. really mostly just Jim and Pam as we've all come to know them. Glad you enjoyed this little story.

Author's Response: Well Nan, thanks so much. When I watched the episode I so much wanted to actually see that scene that we only got to hear as background. And then, when we actually got to see it as a deleted scene...well, the way Pam smiled just before she went in for that little "peck" on Jim's cheek...I just knew there had to be a bit of a story behind that.

I really like that they didn't go farther than that, given that it's still season 2 and a little more could have rewritten their history, so... Really nice writing of their chemistry and of the season 2 mood. I guess Goldenface did impress the nameless receptionnist :)
Author's Response: Yeah, I was a History major...in most cases I'm pretty wary about re-writing history (except of course when it suits the plot). And by Pam's reaction to what Michael actually wrote in his script, I'd venture that our little Ms. Beasly had been duly "impressed" with Goldenface (aka "Jim") long before she ever found that script in Michael's desk drawer. Just a wild guess.

Author's Response: Thanks. Well, during Season 2 I think we were all pretty much hoping he would kiss her. And, this time I decided to stay true to that part of Jim's and Pam's story...even in this "fic" I didn't want to spoil what we got in Casino Night.
