this made me cry. Once again, Jim put himself out there. HE held her. HE said he wanted to kiss her again. I understand she is being vague (he is in a relationship, and she doesn't want to mess it up for him), but I really hope Jim understands how Pam really feels. That someday Pam will say, "I'm ready for that kiss."

This is so beautiful and sensual. The whole time I was reading this, I could feel the mugginess in the air. The emotions in this story are so heartbreaking. They're so close to the truth and so far away from it all at the same time. I like how in this story Karen is sort of secondary...she's there but she's not what's keeping them apart. Fear is what's keeping them from each other. Such a beautiful story.

ivy! Glad to have you back, girl :) Your descriptions are beautifully evocative, sensuous, lush. They make me want to know all the little details that preceded this moment. I think they also convey the depth of the emotion being experienced between these two. Sad but sexy--not a bad deal ;)
