This is outstanding characterisation, both of Jim and, indirectly, of Pam. The tiny moment where Jim can deduce so much from Pam's pain as her coworkers act like she doesn't exist (a canonical complaint) was incredible. I actually copied it down for reference. The only things I will mention are beginning with a name, as I find myself more drawn into the story that way. But the overall characterisation and message was incredible. Well done!

Oh, I added this story to the favorites like million years ago, but I never commented on it. It's time to fix it.
So. I love every tiny bit of this story. Michael's folly; Pam, allowing herself little moments of silliness and carelessness before everybody comes to the office; the way Pam keeps trying to do nice things even if everybody ignores her. And, of course, Jim. He's so sweet...
Thank you so much for this little piece of tenderness and joy!
Author's Response: Thank you! This was a lot of fun to write--and unlike my gigantic ones, it gave me an immediate sense of satisfaction from completion, which was nice. I'm glad you liked it!

Sooo beautifully done!
I could just imagine Pam playing a bit before the rest came in. Loved it!
Author's Response: Thanks! This one basically fell into my mind fully-formed, and I'm really glad it fit your fancy :).

What a sweet story, we know from Booze Cruise that one of Jim's favorite qualities of Pam's is her warmth and I think it's very fitting that that is actually the first thing he noticed about her. Like BigTuna said, head canon accepted!
Author's Response: Thank you! I really appreciate hearing that, and I'm very glad this made sense to you for the characters.

Aww! This was really sweet and fit the tone of the show perfectly. Head canon accepted.
Author's Response: Aww, I'm so happy to hear that. I don't do a lot that is intended to be canon-compliant so that's great to hear.

Such nice visual imagery of their first sightings of each other. Jim's quiet observations and insight into Pam's heart are so touching and awwwwww-inspiring. :)
Author's Response: Thanks! I haven't done a lot where we only get one POV so I'm very glad Jim's insight worked for you.
