Ooof the angst. I think you got Jim’s emotions at this time right spot on. I sometimes wonder… why Jim why be with Karen? You’re clearly not over Pam and never will be.
Perfection.

this was beautiful and heart wrenching. i loved the faint references of ‘boyfriends’ appearing every so often (i also have been attached to harry’s new album), but the thoughts could’ve been canon jim, and that’s what makes this piece so endearing to read. the notion of pam falling back into her old habits even after proving she can thrive independently hurts the heart, and you did a great job depicting jim’s pain and confusion here. what a wonderful, short read.
Author's Response:
Ah yes, a fellow listener! Thank you, I tried to bridge some bits of the lyrics into the fic without making it too obvious. Oh yes, that always hurts my heart!
Thank you! <3

Ughhh one of my least favourite moments of the entire show, but you captured Jim’s thoughts well!
“Why? I wish I knew. I wish I knew what you see in him. I wish I could understand why you continue to go back to him.” We all want to know that Pam!! Gah!!
Author's Response:
Why, thank you! This coming from someone who doesn't like angst, means a lot!
We do all want to know why. There's lines in the song that go: "Only calling you when he don't wanna be alone. Oh, and you go. But why? You don't know." And that TRULY, in my opinion, describes Pam and Roy in this situation.

this was angsty alright but I think you got at the emotions Jim was feeling as he watched his heart walk out the door on the arms of the man who didn't deserve her.
Author's Response:
Thank you, Max! I don't delve into the angsty side of their slow burn often, but it's needed.
Roy never did, and never will, deserve Pam.
Thank you! <3

A realistic portrayal of the understandable frustration and bitterness that Jim felt towards Pam in 3x15. The disbelief on his face as he watched them leave together was my favourite scene in that episode.
Author's Response:
Why thank you! This scene always breaks my heart for him, and also has me yelling at my screen "NO PAM, WHY??".
Thank you for your kind words!

Ooooooooooof.
You captured Jim's post-Phyllis' Wedding pain well here. You can see where this produces the bitterness and frustration he ends up demonstrating in the back end of Season 3.
I need a drink. Bad memories.
Author's Response:
Well thank you! I apologize that I regurgitated those bad memories for you, please go get that drink, lol!
Thank you! <3

Oh, the sting of S3. Without a doubt Jim was having all of those thoughts as he watched Roy and Pam walk out together. What I find interesting is that all of his thoughts seem to be finding fault with Pam here. Now granted he has good reason to think so. The last time he had a really serious conversation with her she told him he had misinterpreted and it sent him spiraling. He's clearly still in that spiral. Yet he also could have reached out to her during the summer, or not brought Karen along, or done many other things. His thoughts seems a little selfish here, but that's also right where he is at this point. Just trying to stay above water and a drowning man always thinks of himself first.
Really good look into his mindset that's for sure. The disappointment, anger, frustration, and longing that make S3 so hard to watch at times are all on display here.
Author's Response:
Why thank you! I agree, Jim definitely pinned a lot of the blame here on Pam, but in an understandable manner. This song just reminded me so much of S3 Jim, lol!
Thank you! <3

"You are far from the same person, no closer to him than you were eight months ago when you called your wedding, engagement, and relationship off, as it seems. You’ve grown into a person who shouldn’t need him." Oooof, nailed it.
"And this game will never end. He’ll continue to play this charade: pretend to be what you want him to be and fall back onto his old habits. The same way you have, it seems."
Again. OOOOF.
WELP. You poked my heart. Ow.
Very well done and heartbreaking and UGH. Time to go eat chocolate and watch Jim come in and say "Then it's a date" on repeat to make myself feel better.
(But really I looooved thissssss. You know I love me some angst, bb)
Author's Response:
I will gladly take responsibility for your heart being poked, especially as someone who does not write angst often!
Yes, go skip ahead to The Job with some chocolate, and maaaaaaaaybe give this song a listen when you're in an angsty mood again, lol!
Thank you! <3

Interesting story.
I can’t bring myself to feel bad for Jim because
he was such an ass in season three. If Jim would
only open his eyes then he would see that the only
reason why Pam would be with Roy again was because of himself.
Jim was so busy feeling sorry for himself he
couldn’t see that he had become the very man
he thought Roy was. So yes pam deserved better.
Better than Jim.
Author's Response:
I get it, trust me I do. I start off my rewatching of Season 3 mad at Jim too. I totally understand where you're coming from!
Thank you for your kind words!

You already know my thoughts but season 3 angst is my jam (pun intended) and I think you did a great job of combining Jim's thoughts about Roy with this song.
*You are far from the same person, no closer to him than you were eight months ago when you called your wedding, engagement, and relationship off, as it seems. You’ve grown into a person who shouldn’t need him.*
This is my fave part... the fact that surely Jim sees the changes in Pam and still has to bear witness to her backsliding is frustrating as a viewer.
Nice work!
Author's Response:
Well thank you! Those couple of lines are also my favorite! Jim is in no way able to deny the growth she's made since calling off their wedding, and intertwining that with the song lyrics just produced a great couple of lines!
Thank you <3
