Ooooof. Man, this is good. It's such a clear vision into Jim's desperation at this point in Season 2 - it tells you a lot about him, his feelings towards Pam at this late date and his frenemyship with Dwight all at once.

I know I've read this before, but I'm not sure if I've reviewed. This is just so excellent, though, that it warrants multiple reviews. I love how you've highlighted one of the major flaws in Jim- as much as he claims to dislike working at D-M, and as much as he cares for Pam, he never (at least until the end of s2) did anything about it. Also loved how you touched on a negative of Jim's feelings for Pam- the way they make him feel like he has to hold everything in, and the way he's not sure who he is without them. Overall, this fic is beyond awesome for really exploring a lot of facets of Jim's personality and relationships with Pam and Dwight that I don't often read in fics. Kudos on an excellent story- definitely a favorite.

What a fabulous Jim characterization, and you make canon feel refreshing and new by filling in an entirely plausible Jim thought process on how he got to asking for the transfer.

Um. Awesome. That is all.
Oh, and you rock.

Phew, I actually read this earlier and wanted to compose my thoughts before I reviewed. This was very good. I haven't found a lot of Jim/Dwight dynamic characterizations done right, but you really got it I think. The beginning was spot-on Jim, so afraid of change or doing anything out of the ordinary. And the line about Pam defeating him? Brilliant. And Jim kissing Dwight at the end was just... I was speechless :) Fantastic job, I always love your stuff!

This captures Jim and Dwight's dynamic like nothing else I've ever read. Just terrific!

Aw, this was awesome. You really captured Jim's inner turmoil, his need to be near Pam and him figuring out that that need is not so healthy. And the Jim/Dwight stuff was great.

Oh, so good!!!

Okay, I really liked this up until Jim kisses Dwight. Nothing wrong with slash, but this felt completely out of character. Wrong.
However, I like the inner monologue and Jim's thoughts about his reveling it was him who complained about Pam. I hadn't thought of this in that light. Good work.

Oh God, this is fantastic. Your Jim is just completely perfect, that mix of funny and cool and pathetic and passive.
He stays up late on his laptop some nights, sprawled out on the living room couch in his boxers, almost buying concert tickets but when he gets to the screen that tells you that you only have two minutes to make your purchase, it freaks him out, so he decides that Philadelphia is a pain-in-the-ass drive and he doesn't like the band that much.
That so encapsulates him I can't even handle it. And his relationship to Dwight and Pam and everybody - just great. It's especially impressive to pull this off and make it interesting when you're treading older canon, going over stuff we saw on screen - and you totally do it and do it well. Awesome.

This was just an amazing insight into the Jim/Dwight dynamic, I can't even possibly express how good it was! I love how you captured that very nature of Jim of just floating aimlessly through life (which is what I think a lot of 20something's do, but I think that aspect of Jim gets overlooked in favor of "Jim is so funny and hot!" sentiments sometimes). I'd like to quote all the lines back to you that I loved but that would result in a cut/paste of the entire thing, so basically just know that the entire piece was awesome!

Wow. Sometimes when people do episode-centered fic it comes off as unoriginal because they borrow too much from the episode, but this was so good. You give such an excellent insight into what Jim could have been thinking that even though I know the story it seems new.
In other words, this rocks.

Man, I felt like I was holding my breath throughout this entire thing. You put me right back into that terrible state of what Jim must have been feeling then, like everything and nothing was possible, and I loved loved that the weird lifeline out of it seemed to be Dwight. Excellent work.

Well, I think we can close the fandom now. You won it. The end!

Oh! Did not expect that. But dawesome, brilliant insight. So well done.

I....don't know what to say. I don't know what I thought your Dwight/Jim story was going to be like...and this exceeded every expectation. Everything is just so spot-on and I really want to go re-watch Conflict Resolution and just revel in the way you were able to give it such a fresh look. Perfect Jim/Dwight dynamic. Gah.
(If you can't already tell, I really really liked this:))

Wow. You had me with the mood you set throughout the whole piece - of Jim drifting aimlessly through his life - and it's like when he kissed Dwight, it suddenly grounded him. Except I'm not sure if it was motivated by fear, need, or if Jim wanted to just shock him. And the brilliant part is that Jim doesn't even know. Just a really great piece 69con!

You've tapped into such a rich vein, that I've barely seen touched in other stories: how the Dwight/Jim dynamic, their ying-yang, love-hate thing thing is such a driving force. It's so vividly expressed here - the kiss at the end is like Jim's self-awareness bubbling over...almost (last line, yikes.) And his sad realization about Pam's opposite effect on him: It's not even nine o'clock and already she has him defeated. Oh, man. And I love that his regret for having reported her to Toby isn't that she found out, but what it says about himself. So eloquent.

Well, this is 5 million different kinds of wonderful. Conflict Resolution is such a great episode for Jim/Dwight interaction, and the thoughts that you put into Jim's head for some of their moments fit so perfectly. Loved the way you wrote Jim's realization that he is aimless outside of his love for Pam and his slow progression to doing something with Dwight's prodding.
Everything was so perfectly in character. Really loved reading this :)
