"A panicky thought crossed her mind that even though he'd asked her on a "date" it might be a goodbye dinner."  It's funny, I thought of this too.  Pam isn't aware of why Jim is there yet, so for all she knows, it could be a goodbye dinner!  I love their bantering, and her cute little comment about getting to see her apartment later.  Oh, and Kelly asking Michael to tell Ryan to stop lying to her was precious!!

Author's Response: Although judging by Pam's huge grin after Jim shut the door of the conference room, I don't think she was even worried it wasn't a good date! But I know I'd wonder about his intentions. I feel bad about using poor Kelly as window dressing and leaving her there to sort it all out with Michael. Might have to touch on that again later after, you know, some other touching goes on!

Such the gentlemen our Jim.

Author's Response: For now anyway! Later? Who knows!

"velvet gravel?" phyllis is a genius. or i guess you're a genius. either way, that's the perfect way to describe that voice. *sigh* this is off to a great start. i love them sneaking out of the office and her being so excited that she runs downstairs to meet him. how sweet :)

Author's Response: Thanks so much! Yeah, that Phyllis is a genius. It was nice of her to have a wedding so they could have another misunderstanding that led eventually to them going on a date. At least, I think that was her plan!

Ah, re-inventing the iconic elevator scene. And spot-on saucy banter (go FNB!) And you managed to get the 'velvet gravel' in, you naughty girl. Love their dyanamic here - just the right balance of funny and nervous, yet serious about each other. And I can't wait to read the second chapter, where I think I detect some lip lockage on the horizon...

Author's Response:

Yes, the elevator. Been done to death but now that they don't have to be all coy, how much fun is that? The velvet gravel is too sexy not to be there. And what else? Oh yeah...it's almost as though you have a radar for lip lockage. Well, then, go on and read it! You know you want to!

Thanks for all you do!

You are right - there really can never be enough first date stories. I have read dozens, but they still make me feel so warm and fuzzy inside! Yours especially. The part where Pam skipped out to Jim's car was adorable. Keep it coming!

Author's Response: Thanks so much! And I love the idea of them on a date so much I might make it last all summer! TWSS...

'velvet gravel' YES!!!!

"invite me in" just became the sexiest phase ever!  Well at least for today.  You are right -- there cannot be enough FDF.

Author's Response:

"Invite me in" has that double meaning as well! Huh. Maybe later!

Thanks lisahoo!

Nice work. It felt so real between them, I loved it. Great banter.

Author's Response: Thanks! I love the banter. It's sexy and fun and I like speculating on how it will be when they're "together"!

Oooh!  What a tease, just leaving us there!!  I'm all excited for more!

You better be taking the slow train to Philly to get this written faster!!!

Author's Response: Sorry! I'm typing as fast as I can and unfortunately, you know how slow that is. Keep 'em wanting more is my motto! But I think that might not be FNB's motto so you (and Jim) are in luck. Hang in there! ;-)

Velvet Gravel. I think I'm in love with that phrase.

Author's Response: Hee! Thanks! I think I'm in love with that sound! Oh yeah...

I love it. Banter, Bobby Darin, fleeing from Michael. It's all good!

And yay for FNB's blatant innuendo! But I think my favorite part was Pam realizing that it was ok to openly look at him -- for the first time in ages. *sigh*

More, please!

Author's Response: Aw, thanks! It's been a tough year - I missed the banter and I just want to have them revel in the happiness. And have Pam undress Jim with her eyes. That'll work too! ;-)

This is absolutely lovely!  Their banter is really wonderful and very "them", I think!

I know in some of the fics, the date starts right from work, but I like this so much better.  They'd both probably want to grab a shower and start all fresh.  (It sounds like Pam may want to shave her legs before the date...)

I look forward to the rest of the date.  Question:  Will this date actually include any time OUT of her apartment?  (I'm fine with either answer.)

Author's Response:

Starting all fresh - that's what it's all about. And bwah! Yes, I assume Pam would want to shave, you know, just in case...  I don't think it's revealing too much to say that there might be an actual date portion of the evening which may take place outside of Pam's apartment! Thanks for your lovely - and speedy - review!
